A heavy silence fell over the room. Not a single word came out of anyone’s mouth.
For a second, even the 8,003-year-old, terrifying Demon Queen was confused.
Himanshu panicked and frantically tried to handle the situation.
"Um... Mom... this... she’s actually..."
He had no idea what to say. What kind of lie could he suddenly cook up about those two horns growing out of Demon Queen head? If he had a little more time, he would’ve definitely made up some story. But as always, his rotten luck had trapped him at the worst possible moment.
Himanshu squeezed his eyes shut tight and stood right there at the door, muttering a few more lame excuses.
But right then... his mom completely ignored him. She walked right past him and went straight into the room, heading directly for Demon . Himanshu was left standing at the door all by himself, muttering with his eyes closed.
"So... were you the one making all that noise just now?" his mom asked.
Hearing this, Himanshu snapped his eyes open. He instantly realized he had just been ignored by his own mother all over again.
But then his attention shifted to her words. He completely didn’t expect this reaction. He thought his mom would scream at the top of her lungs or freak out the moment she saw those horns. But nothing like that happened!
Himanshu quickly turned around and looked at the Demon Queen.
Demon Queen had wrapped that large white towel tightly around her wet hair like a turban. It must have happened when Himanshu was busy barking orders at her to stay in the room. That towel had completely hidden both of Demon horns!
Hearing the mom’s question, Demon just gave a slight nod.
"I see..." His mom looked her up and down and asked, "So, are you some kind of sworn sister to Himanshu?"
What? Sister?
For a second, Demon didn’t even process the question. Honestly, if any normal human saw this exact situation (a guy, a half-naked girl, and a wet towel), they absolutely wouldn’t ask that question.
"No..." Demon said, feeling a bit awkward, "I am not his sister."
"Oh, so are you his classmate?"
"No."
His mom thought for a second and then asked slowly, "Then are you... Himanshu’s teacher?"
Hearing this, Himanshu’s face—which was pale from fear just a minute ago—turned completely red with pure embarrassment and rage.
His own mother was directly attacking his masculinity! It felt like an arrow piercing straight through his chest. Since childhood, everyone knew Himanshu was a massive introvert and a total loser. Making a normal friend was nothing short of a miracle for him, let alone getting a girlfriend.
Himanshu clenched his fists in anger.
"Stop it, Mom! That’s enough!" Himanshu stepped forward, absolutely frustrated.
"Now don’t you dare tell me she’s your girlfriend," his mom cut him off with a taunt. "Getting a girl this pretty as your girlfriend isn’t even in your league. I’ve known you since you were a kid."
His mom turned back around and directly asked Demon , "Did he kidnap you or something?" Then she stared at Demon closely and muttered to herself, "No, no, looking at your face, it doesn’t seem like it."
His mom just kept firing one question after another.
Demon queen didn’t have any answers either. She stayed quiet because she didn’t know much about the customs of this other world. She just kept looking at Himanshu in absolute silence.
Meanwhile, Himanshu, who was being crushed under the weight of his lifelong humiliation, finally lost his patience.
"She is my girlfriend! Got it?" Himanshu yelled.
He blurted it out in a single breath. His breathing had actually gotten heavy. He stepped forward and stood right between his mom and Demon Queen.
Demon Queen slightly clenched her jaw.
"Yes! We are in a relationship!" Himanshu yelled, looking straight into his mom’s eyes.
His mom listened to all this in pure shock. She didn’t even blink.
And then... a loud burst of laughter erupted from her mouth.
"Good joke!" his mom said, laughing. "How am I supposed to believe you’re telling the truth?"
She completely ignored Himanshu and looked straight at Demon Queen, asking, "Tell me the truth, did he pay you to say all this?"
Demon Queen mind raced. She couldn’t figure out what to say. If she said ’yes,’ her cover would be blown and she’d have to leave this place and Himanshu’s side. And if she said ’no,’ she’d have to fake a relationship with this Khechad human.
Well, faking a relationship or forming an alliance was no big deal for a Demon Queen. She had formed plenty of fake alliances during her rule. Just this ’girlfriend’ type of relationship was a bit new to her.
But she had no other choice either.
Demon slowly shook her head. "No. I haven’t taken any money."
"Alright, if she’s really your girlfriend... then show me a photo of you two on your phone! How long have you been in a relationship? Do her parents know?"
"Um... we haven’t taken any photos yet... and it’s only been a few days..." Himanshu started stuttering, wiping away his sweat.
His mom narrowed her eyes. Himanshu’s lie was clearly getting caught.
"Oh? So there are no photos and the parents don’t know either?" She spoke in a very serious tone. "If you two are truly in a relationship... then kiss each other. Right now. In front of me."
The moment those words dropped, the air in the room got incredibly heavy. The tension was clearly visible on both of their faces.
Himanshu’s blood literally froze. He knew doing that with the Demon King was completely impossible. His body turned into a literal stone right there.
I should’ve just said she was a friend, idiot! Himanshu cursed himself in his mind. What was the need to say girlfriend? You’re trapped now! Now nothing can be done. Should I tell Mom the truth? No, no, if I do that, my life will become a living hell. I’ll fall even lower in her eyes. What do I do now?!
