My Hidden Heresy Skill Forged an SSS-Ranked Harem for Infinite Points
Chapter 232: JealousyIvis looked at Ryan in great detail, evaluating how quickly he had deciphered her technique.
A much wider smile than usual appeared on Ivis’s face. Then she nodded her head, confirming her ally’s perfect deduction.
"That is right, but the demonstration I just gave was solely so you could understand it," Ivis explained with total tranquility.
"In reality, I do not need to visibly create water spheres or make any movements to be able to hear my surroundings."
"Yes, I thought so." Ryan replied instantly. He had already assumed that such a high-level sensory skill had to be undetectable to be truly useful on the battlefield.
"And exactly how far can you hear with that method?" Irina asked very curiously.
Irina took a small step forward, genuinely interested in the magical range of the technique.
Ivis closed her eyes and thought about it for a brief moment.
"Hmm, at this precise moment, I can hear everything from the very main entrance of the dungeon all the way down to this place on the one hundredth floor." Ivis stated completely naturally.
"For that very reason..." Ivis added, raising her hand to point her index finger directly at Helen.
"When I heard that this vulgar woman stopped moaning, I decided to enter this floor immediately to deliver my lady Ophelia’s message."
"Stop calling me vulgar, damn lizard." Helen grumbled instantly, feeling the blush of embarrassment burning her cheeks once again. "For starters, all of that was entirely Ryan’s fault."
Helen crossed her arms tightly and immediately turned her back on Ivis. She tried to keep her posture of superiority intact, although the clear evidence of her exposed moans left her without any real arguments to defend herself.
Ryan completely ignored the childish argument and brought a hand to his chin, submerging himself in his own analysis.
’The raw power of dragons is truly fascinating,’ Ryan thought. ’I would like to have my own dragon entirely at my disposal.’
He began to review the information he had gathered since his arrival in this world. Now that he thought about it carefully, almost all the demon kings had powerful dragons at their personal service to impose their authority over the others.
At the very least, Ryan knew for certain about the existence of three demon kings who had lethal dragons in their ranks. It wouldn’t be surprising if the rest of the nine demon kings that existed and ruled their respective territories also had similar beasts.
The simple idea of having a loyal and highly versatile dragon like Ivis under his own command was crossing his mind. It was a very fascinating thought that would exponentially increase the village’s power.
While Ryan planned in silence, Mirian and Irina began to look at each other very strangely. Both girls had just processed and fully understood the true extent of Ivis’s sensory power.
Mirian took a quick step forward, showing a clear expression of displeasure and concern on her face.
"One second," Mirian said, raising a hand to stop the conversation.
"So, you are saying that you could hear absolutely everything that happens within the village borders?" Mirian asked with an extremely serious and accusing look. "Even if we are inside Ryan’s private room, behind closed doors?"
"Naturally." Ivis confirmed without hesitation, maintaining her firm and disinterested posture. "I can hear perfectly well from down here in the dungeon, or while being anywhere inside the village."
"How disgusting." Mirian added immediately, wrinkling her nose with deep repulsion. Mirian quickly ran over to stand right next to Ryan, seeking his direct intervention as their leader.
"Ryan, you must forbid that woman from continuing to use that skill constantly." Mirian demanded, lightly tugging on his dark sleeve. "If we do things in private... well, you know, she will be listening to every single detail. She is a complete pervert."
Ivis’s calm gaze turned serious instantly. Ivis felt clearly annoyed by the bold accusation that Mirian had just let slip in front of everyone so lightly.
"So you plan to continue doing your usual obscene things and wasting time?" Ivis retorted with a cold and critical voice. "Even now, when we have an impending war just four days away?"
"That doesn’t matter at all." Mirian grumbled defensively, refusing to give any ground in the argument. "Just don’t do that while you are near us. It’s truly disgusting to feel like we are being spied on."
"And she had the nerve to call me an exhibitionist and vulgar." Helen intervened from her position with her back turned, taking advantage of the moment. "In the end, it turns out that lizard is the real pervert of the group."
Irina raised her hands in an appeasing gesture, trying to mediate the growing territorial conflict. "Perhaps it would be much better for Lady Ivis to stay in the dungeon shelter’s safe room these days." Irina suggested cautiously.
Helen and Mirian looked into each other’s eyes for a brief moment and nodded in unison. They were both in complete agreement with the idea of keeping the dangerous and meddlesome Ivis as far away from the village as possible.
Ryan brought a hand to his forehead and rubbed his temples with evident exhaustion.
’It’s incredible, they always find a stupid reason to cause a huge scene.’ Ryan thought, watching the three girls conspire against Ivis.
’Besides, with what Ivis just explained about her immense sensory range, it doesn’t matter at all if she is staying in this place or sleeping directly inside the village.’ He let out a long sigh of annoyance, feeling the irrationality of the moment.
"Rest assured." Ivis said, raising both hands with a clear gesture of resignation. She did not want to continue dealing with the immature jealousy of Ryan’s problematic allies.
"I usually keep that sensory skill active almost by inertia," Ivis explained, recovering her calm tone of voice.
"I do that because I am always by my lady Ophelia’s side to guarantee her safety against any surprise attacks. But here in your territory I have no real reason to use it all the time. Besides, maintaining that level of perception is mentally exhausting, so I will simply take it as a long rest." Ivis added honestly.
"I wonder if that is actually true." Mirian muttered in a low voice. She had clung to Ryan’s arm, looking at Ivis with eyes full of a deep, stubborn distrust.
Helen opened her mouth and tried to intervene to hurl another insult, ready to maintain the hostility. But she was cut off abruptly upon hearing Ryan’s firm voice echoing in the room.
"It makes sense that you are always by Ophelia’s side, that skill is very useful." Ryan stated, fully validating Ivis’s enormous utility.
"That is right." Ivis replied immediately. She once again showed a small, proud smile upon seeing that Ryan actually recognized her true strategic value, unlike the complaining girls.
"While it is common knowledge that Janina is considered the eyes of the Morrisen kingdom," Ivis said with complete and absolute confidence in her own words.
"Then I would be considered the perfect ears of my lady Ophelia’s kingdom."
The atmosphere calmed down a bit after Ivis’s firm clarification, but the doubts weren’t over yet. Then, Mirian took a step forward, letting go of Ryan’s arm and furrowing her brow once again.
"But then there is something that still doesn’t make sense to me." Mirian said, remembering her humiliating previous defeat.
"What is the real reason that all my attacks disappeared into thin air when I attacked you that time?"
