My Husband Is An International Idol

Chapter 52: Liliana’s Rising Popularity

The internet couldn’t stop talking about Liliana Walker.

Every day brought a new article, a new photograph, a new discussion, a new rumor and a new fan page.

The Gucci campaign had done more than launch her career. But it had turned her into one of the most talked-about newcomers in the industry.

Fashion bloggers discussed her elegance. Luxury brands speak about her influence. Fans argued about her unmatched beauty.

And entertainment reporters discussed her mysterious connection to Chris St. Claire. Nobody had answers which only made people more curious.

Meanwhile, Liliana had no time to enjoy any of it, because her schedule had become completely insane.

One morning, Mary walked into the penthouse carrying a stack of folders. A very large stack.

Everyone stared at her and the folders.

Nathan blinked. "Are those contracts?" He asked while immediately helping his cousin.

Mary nodded.

"How many?" Nicolo asked.

"Ten."

They were surprised. "What?"

Mary placed the folders on the dining table. "They’re all for Liliana."

Everyone’s eyes widened. Nicole nearly dropped her spoon. Rose looked shocked. Even Chris was surprised.

Nathan rubbed his eyes as if he had misread the number of folders. Nicolo even counted them twice, convinced Mary had exaggerated. Unfortunately for him, there really were ten.

"Are you sure those are all for Liliana?" Nathan asked.

Mary smiled knowingly. "I counted them three times on the way here. They’re all hers."

Only Emily looked proud. "I knew it."

Liliana stared at the mountain of paperwork. "Ten? All mine?"

Mary nodded. "Yes."

Then she started reading. "The first one is from Prada."

Everyone immediately became quiet.

"The second is Louis Vuitton."

River quietly reached for a glass of water.

"I think I need this," he muttered.

Leo patted his shoulder. "We’re only on the second contract."

Nicole almost fainted.

"This third one is from Dior."

Emily grabbed her heart dramatically.

"The fourth is Burberry."

"The fifth, Cartier."

"The sixth is Saint Laurent."

"The seventh is Valentino."

"The eighth is Versace."

"The ninth is Chanel."

Nicolo immediately sat straighter.

"And the tenth is Tom Ford."

The dining room fell into complete silence. Even the sound of the air conditioner suddenly seemed louder.

Liliana looked from one contract to another, still unable to process everything.

"Yesterday I was worried about choosing what to cook for dinner," she murmured. "Now I have to choose between Prada and Chanel."

Emily grinned. "That’s what we call a rich people’s problem."

A month ago she had been living quietly in Sterling Village, cleaning and gardening.

Now luxury brands were fighting for her attention. Life was very strange.

Mary opened another folder. "There is something interesting."

Everyone looked toward her.

"Eight of these campaigns specifically requested Chris and Liliana together."

The room immediately turned toward Chris. He looked suspiciously pleased.

Aaron pointed. "Look at his face."

River nodded. "He’s enjoying this."

Chris didn’t deny it. Not even a little.

"I think I deserved it because I’m the husband."

Aaron folded his arms.

"Listen to him. He didn’t even try to sound humble."

"Why should I?" Chris replied without the slightest shame. "Being married finally has benefits."

"You’ve been waiting five years to say that, haven’t you?" Leo asked.

Chris simply smiled.

Everyone groaned.

The Gucci campaign had created a problem. Because everything started with them and now more luxury brands love Chris and Liliana’s chemistry. And apparently they wanted more of them.

Mary continued reviewing. "Oh! One campaign is a solo project."

Liliana immediately became interested. "What kind of project?"

Mary opened the contract. Then frowned which they thought was a bad sign.

"What?" Liliana asked.

Mary continued reading. Then looked at her.

"Well, it’s overseas."

The room became silent.

"Where?" Liliana asked.

"France."

The room froze.

"It’s a three-month campaign. Everything will be arranged and handled by them. That includes her schedule of multiple photoshoots and her overseas residency. There were also brand appearances and fashion events." Mary continued.

Chris’s smile completely disappeared quickly.

Everyone noticed, especially Leo who immediately started laughing. "He’s suffering."

Chris ignored him.

Mary continued reading. Then shook her head. "No."

Liliana frowned. "What?"

Mary closed the folder. "You’re not doing this."

"Why?"

"Three months."

She pointed toward Chris. "He’ll become a criminal."

Everyone burst out laughing including Liliana.

"Well, he was on a world tour for four months. I didn’t complain."

Chris scratched his head, making everyone laughed again.

Mary remained serious. Then opened another folder and frowned again. This time harder.

Everyone waited.

"What now?" Nathan asked.

Mary handed the folder to Liliana. The moment she read it, her face changed.

Then she immediately closed it. "No."

The answer came instantly. Everyone became curious.

Even Emily looked surprised. "What was it?"

Liliana handed the contract to Mary. The manager sighed.

"It’s a perfume campaign."

"That doesn’t sound bad." Nicole commented.

Mary flipped through several pages. She looked uncomfortable as she reviewed the contract.

"The concept focuses on sensuality."

Silence.

Then Emily grabbed the contract. "Let me see."

Five seconds later, she nearly threw it. "Oh."

Another page. "Oh."

And another page. "Oh no."

Everyone frowned

Chris took the contract. Then immediately closed it.

"No."

The answer came much faster than Liliana’s.

"Why? What is it? What does it say?" Nicole and Rose were curious

"The concept is about sensuality and she was being paired with another male model." Mary answered.

The room erupted with laughter. But Chris remained serious.

"Absolutely not."

River laughed so hard he nearly fell off the sofa.

Leo pointed. "Protective husband activated."

Chris ignored him again.

Mary set the rejected contracts aside, and then smiled at the rest.

"The remaining eight are good. I think they’re professional, elegant and appropriate. Most importantly, safe."

Liliana nodded. She wasn’t really interested in becoming famous at any cost. She’s thankful but some opportunities weren’t worth accepting. Even if they paid well.Mary’s phone vibrated again.

Then again.

Then another notification appeared before she could even answer the previous call.

She looked at everyone and gave a helpless smile.

"I don’t think they’re going to stop today."

Liliana let out a quiet sigh.

Her peaceful life had completely disappeared.

Only a few weeks ago, she could walk through the village without anyone recognizing her. Now every outfit she wore became a trending topic, every smile became an article, and every public appearance made headlines.

She had become the newest darling of the fashion industry almost overnight.

But none of them realized that fame always attracted more than admiration. Because somewhere else in the city, a large television displayed another interview praising Liliana Walker’s meteoric rise.

The screen reflected a pair of icy, emotionless eyes. The man watched every second of the interview without blinking.

Newspaper clippings, magazine covers, and printed photographs of Liliana were scattered across the table before him.

His lips slowly curled into a faint smile.

"Beautiful..." he whispered.

While the world celebrated Liliana Walker’s success, someone else had begun to see her as an obsession.

And Matthew St. Claire had a terrible feeling that this mysterious admirer would soon become far more dangerous than the media ever could.
