My Husband Is An International Idol

Chapter 60: The Idol Becomes a Driver

The interview changed everything. It didn’t reveal the biggest secret, but it revealed enough to change the way people looked at Liliana Sterling.

No one called her an outsider anymore. No one questioned why Matthew St. Claire treated her with such warmth, and no one dared accuse her of being a gold digger in front of St. Claire Entertainment employees.

They now knew exactly who she was—the granddaughter of Lucia Sterling, the daughter of Edward Sterling, the man who had once saved St. Claire Entertainment. More importantly, they knew she was someone Matthew and Amanda openly considered family.

The following morning, Liliana was getting ready to leave the mansion when Chris appeared behind her, casually twirling a set of car keys in one hand while holding a pair of sunglasses in the other.

"I’m taking you."

Liliana blinked in surprise.

"What?"

"I’m driving."

"You don’t have a schedule today."

"I know."

"Then you should rest."

Chris simply shook his head.

"I’m escorting you."

Liliana laughed.

"You already assigned four bodyguards."

"They’re escorting you too."

"And you’re coming?"

"Yes."

"As my driver?"

"As your driver."

"And bodyguard?"

"As your bodyguard."

Liliana covered her face, trying to suppress her laughter.

"You’re an international idol."

"I’m aware."

"This feels ridiculous."

Chris smiled without the slightest embarrassment.

"So does having a stalker."

That single sentence ended the discussion.

Liliana sighed in defeat.

"Fine."

Chris’s smile widened.

"I knew you’d agree."

Fifteen minutes later, a black luxury sedan rolled out of the St. Claire Mansion. One security vehicle led the convoy while two more followed behind, creating a formation that looked excessive to everyone except Chris, who still felt it wasn’t nearly enough.

Inside the car, Liliana glanced sideways at him with an amused smile.

"You really enjoy driving me."

Chris didn’t even try to hide it.

"I do."

"You know people are going to misunderstand."

"They already misunderstand everything."

Liliana laughed.

"Fair point."

Chris shrugged casually.

"So I might as well enjoy it."

She simply shook her head before turning toward the window, unable to hide the smile tugging at her lips.

When they arrived at St. Claire Entertainment, the security guards immediately opened the entrance gates. Employees crossing the lobby instinctively slowed to a stop as the driver’s door opened first.

Chris St. Claire stepped out.

Several trainees blinked once.

Then twice.

Then a third time.

Chris calmly walked around the vehicle, opened the passenger door himself, and offered Liliana his hand. She accepted it so naturally that it was obvious this wasn’t the first time he had done it.

For several seconds...

The entire lobby forgot how to breathe.

Whispers quickly spread throughout the building.

"Did Chris just..."

"Open the door for her?"

"He drove her here himself?"

"Personally?"

"Wasn’t he supposed to be resting today?"

"I think he volunteered."

Chris ignored every whisper as though he hadn’t heard a single one. He simply walked beside Liliana toward the elevators, staying close enough to discourage anyone from approaching but giving her enough space to avoid unnecessary attention. The four bodyguards followed discreetly several steps behind.

Inside the elevator, Robin glanced sideways at Chris before letting out a quiet sigh.

"You know this is going to become news."

Chris casually pressed the button for the modeling department.

"I know."

"And you’re okay with that?"

Chris smiled.

"If it keeps people from bothering her..."

He shrugged.

"I’ll drive her every day."

Robin rubbed his forehead.

"You’ve become hopeless."

"Probably."

When the elevator stopped at Robin’s floor, he stepped out with one last look at them, shaking his head before the doors slid shut again.

Silence settled almost immediately.

For a brief moment, neither Chris nor Liliana spoke.

Their hands brushed.

Then, almost instinctively, Chris’s fingers curled around hers.

Liliana didn’t pull away.

The elevator hummed softly as it continued upward, the space suddenly feeling smaller, quieter... closer.

Chris glanced down at their joined hands before slowly lifting his gaze to her face.

Liliana was already looking at him.

Their eyes met.

Neither of them moved.

There was something unspoken in the air—something fragile, something dangerously close to crossing a line neither of them had acknowledged out loud.

Chris’s thumb brushed lightly against her knuckles.

Liliana’s breath caught.

They leaned in—just slightly, almost unconsciously—as if drawn by something neither of them could resist.

For a second...

It felt like they might actually close the distance.

Then the elevator doors slid open.

Chris immediately released Liliana’s hand. She turned her head toward the control panel.

Neither of them spoke. Neither of them looked at each other.

Voices flooded in as several trainees and staff stepped inside.

The moment they noticed who was inside, their voices abruptly died. Eyes widened.

One trainee nearly stumbled as she stepped in, grabbing her friend’s arm.

"Is that—"

"Don’t say it out loud!"

Another staff member froze mid-step, staring at Chris, then at Liliana.

A stunned silence filled the elevator. No one dared speak. No one dared move too much. But their eyes said everything.

Shock. Curiosity. And an unmistakable realization.

Behind them, two trainees exchanged a quick glance, their expressions practically screaming.

Did we just interrupt something?

Another staff member subtly lowered her head, pretending to check her phone while clearly listening for any hint of conversation.

But there was none. Only the faint hum of the elevator. And the lingering tension that everyone inside could feel.

But the faint warmth lingering between their fingers refused to disappear.

The modeling department fell silent the moment the elevator doors opened. Every trainee instinctively looked toward the entrance as Chris stepped out first, followed closely by Liliana, while four bodyguards remained stationed nearby.

The atmosphere shifted almost instantly. Yesterday’s interview erased every trace of doubt. No one whispered. No one made sarcastic remarks. No one even dared stare for too long.

They finally understood that Liliana had never manipulated anyone for special treatment—she had been part of the St. Claire family long before she ever entered the company.

One trainee quietly nudged the girl beside her.

"I kind of feel bad."

"For what?"

"We judged her."

The other trainee lowered her eyes.

"So did I."

Chris accompanied Liliana all the way to the training hall before finally stopping outside the entrance.

"I’ll pick you up later."

Liliana smiled.

"You don’t have to."

"I know."

"I’m still going to."

She laughed softly.

"You’re impossible."

"So I’ve been told."

Before leaving, Chris instinctively reached over and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. The gesture lasted only a second, almost absentmindedly, but it was enough to silence the entire hallway.

One instructor smiled knowingly.

"They really do look like a couple."

Another nodded.

"I’ve never seen chemistry like that."

Chris waved once before turning around and walking away. Liliana watched him disappear around the corner with a smile she couldn’t quite hide, completely unaware that dozens of trainees were still watching her.

They noticed more than the small gesture. They noticed the way Chris looked at her.

It wasn’t admiration or infatuation. It was something quieter. Something steadier. A love that couldn’t be rehearsed.

Less than thirty minutes later, someone uploaded a photograph of Chris opening the car door for Liliana before she stepped out with a smile. Within minutes, entertainment pages across the country had picked up the story, and a brand-new headline dominated every social media platform.

THE INTERNATIONAL IDOL CHRIS ST. CLAIRE BECOMES LILIANA STERLING’S PERSONAL DRIVER

Thousands of comments poured in almost instantly.

"If Chris St. Claire drove me to work, I’d never complain again."

"He’s setting impossible standards for men."

"He volunteered to be her driver?!"

"After yesterday’s interview, they’re not even pretending they’re just coworkers anymore."

"Someone please let them date already!"

"I’ve never rooted for two people this much."

By noon, it had become the number one trending entertainment story in the country.

Inside his office, Matthew quietly read the latest headline before setting his tablet on the desk. He looked toward Amanda, who had already begun laughing the moment she saw it.

"Our son has officially retired as an international idol."

Matthew raised an amused eyebrow.

"Oh?"

Amanda smiled as she looked out the window toward the company grounds.

"He has a new full-time job."

Matthew leaned back in his chair.

"And what job is that?"

Amanda chuckled.

"Liliana Sterling’s personal driver."

This time, even Matthew couldn’t hold back his laughter.
