For the first time in weeks, Pulse finally had an entire day without schedules. There were no rehearsals, interviews, recordings, or photoshoots—just twenty-four precious hours to breathe.

Naturally, the five of them decided to have lunch outside. Robin protested, the security team protested, and even the company protested. Eventually, everyone lost the argument. As usual.

A nearby upscale restaurant was reserved exclusively for the group. Security personnel arrived long before the members did, inspecting every entrance, every exit, and every corner of the building.

With the recent threats against Liliana, security had also been tightened around every member of Pulse. No one was willing to take unnecessary risks anymore.

Even before Chris, Leo, Aaron, River, and Nathan arrived, fans had already gathered outside the restaurant. Phones filled the air as people excitedly waved and called out their names.

The members smiled and greeted them while security carefully maintained a safe distance, escorting them safely into the private dining area.

Inside the restaurant, the atmosphere immediately offered something they hadn’t enjoyed in weeks—peace and privacy. For the first time in days, they could simply sit down, enjoy a meal, and act like five ordinary friends.

River glanced at Chris before a mischievous grin slowly spread across his face.

"Oh."

Chris immediately became suspicious.

"What?"

"You’ve been making headlines every day."

Aaron nodded in agreement.

"Three days in a row."

Nathan laughed.

"I don’t even need social media anymore. You’re everywhere."

Leo leaned back comfortably in his chair.

"Today’s headline was my favorite."

Chris sighed.

"I knew this was coming."

Leo dramatically cleared his throat before speaking in his best news anchor voice.

"THE INTERNATIONAL IDOL CHRIS ST. CLAIRE BECAME LILIANA STERLING’S PERSONAL DRIVER!"

The room erupted with laughter.

Even Aaron couldn’t hide his smile.

Chris calmly picked up his glass of water.

"I don’t see the problem."

River stared at him in disbelief.

"You don’t?"

Chris simply shrugged.

"I had a free day."

Nathan looked genuinely horrified.

"You voluntarily drove someone to work."

"My wife—"

Chris stopped himself just in time.

Silence.

Everyone at the table slowly turned to look at him.

Chris coughed awkwardly.

"...My... friend."

Leo slowly raised an eyebrow.

"That was dangerously close."

Chris cleared his throat and immediately changed the subject.

"You should try it sometime."

Leo frowned.

"Try what?"

"Having someone special."

The leader almost dropped his fork.

"No."

"Why not?"

Leo answered without missing a beat.

"I love my career."

River burst into laughter.

"You make it sound like dating is a disease."

Leo nodded with complete seriousness.

"It is."

"How?"

"It steals your free time."

Nathan nearly choked on his drink while Aaron quietly shook his head.

"Our leader is hopeless."

Leo crossed his arms.

"I’m practical."

Aaron smiled.

"You’re dramatic."

Leo smirked.

"I’m successful."

The table broke into laughter once again.

Their meals arrived shortly afterward, giving everyone a brief break from teasing. The conversation shifted to lighter topics as they enjoyed lunch together, but it didn’t take long before River looked at Chris again with that familiar mischievous smile.

Chris sighed dramatically.

"What now?"

River rested his chin on one hand.

"I’ve been wondering about something."

"I already don’t like this."

"You and Liliana."

Chris nodded cautiously.

"What about us?"

River smiled.

"You got married five years ago."

Chris nearly dropped his fork.

"So?"

"So..."

River looked around the table.

"When exactly did you go on your honeymoon?"

The room fell into absolute silence.

Then Leo exploded into laughter.

Aaron looked away, trying—and completely failing—not to smile.

Nathan blinked several times before slowly looking at Chris.

"Wait..."

"You never went?"

Chris rubbed the back of his neck.

"We were both busy."

River stared at him.

"For five years?"

Chris nodded.

"Pretty much."

Leo laughed even harder.

"I knew it."

Chris frowned.

"What?"

Leo pointed his fork dramatically across the table.

"I knew there had been absolutely no progress between you two."

Aaron calmly took another sip of water before adding,

"He’s not wrong."

Nathan looked genuinely impressed.

"I honestly thought you were hiding some grand romantic story."

Chris smiled helplessly.

"The grand romantic story was mostly work."

Laughter once again echoed through the room.

When everyone finally settled down, Aaron quietly set his glass on the table. Unlike the others, his expression became unusually serious.

"Can I ask you something?"

Chris looked at him and nodded.

"Go ahead."

Aaron met his eyes.

"Do you love her?"

The laughter disappeared.

River stopped smiling. Leo leaned back in his chair. Nathan quietly waited.

For the first time that afternoon...

No one joked.

Chris didn’t hesitate.

He simply nodded.

"Yes."

One word. Simple. Certain.

There wasn’t the slightest hint of hesitation.

"I love her."

Silence settled over the table before River smiled knowingly.

"I figured."

Leo nodded.

"It was obvious."

Aaron smiled faintly.

"I thought so."

Chris lowered his gaze before quietly admitting something he had never told anyone.

"I’ve never actually said it to her."

Everyone blinked.

"What?"

Chris laughed softly at himself.

"I’ve never told her."

Nathan looked completely confused.

"How?"

Chris smiled helplessly.

"I don’t know."

His smile slowly faded.

"I was afraid."

Leo frowned.

"Afraid of what?"

Chris answered honestly.

"Rejection."

The room fell silent once again.

River looked genuinely stunned.

"You’ve been married for five years."

"I know."

"And you’re afraid she’ll reject you?"

Chris looked out the restaurant window.

"I know she cares about me."

A gentle smile appeared on his face.

"I know she chose this marriage."

He paused before quietly continuing.

"But loving someone..."

He slowly shook his head.

"That’s different."

Aaron understood immediately.

"You don’t want to hear an answer you’re not ready for."

Chris nodded.

"Exactly."

He hesitated for a moment, then added in a quieter voice, almost as if the words themselves weighed too much,

"And... if I say it now... everything might change."

The others looked at him.

Chris exhaled slowly.

"What we have right now... it’s peaceful. It’s steady. I don’t want to risk breaking that."

River frowned slightly.

"You think telling her you love her will ruin things?"

Chris gave a small, conflicted smile.

"I don’t know."

That was the truth.

And that uncertainty was exactly what scared him the most.

Leo leaned back in his chair, his expression surprisingly gentle.

"You know..."

Chris looked at him.

"For someone who’s loved the same woman almost his entire life..."

A teasing smile slowly returned to Leo’s face.

"...you’re unbelievably cowardly."

The table erupted into laughter once more. Even Chris couldn’t help laughing. Because, unfortunately, Leo was absolutely right.

Leo looked at Chris with a knowing smirk.

"So," he added casually, "when exactly are you planning to tell Liliana how you feel?"

Chris didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he leaned back in his chair, eyes drifting toward the window again.

Outside, fans still waited, cameras still flashed, and the world continued moving at its usual relentless pace.

But for a brief moment...

Everything felt quiet.

He thought of Liliana. Her calm voice. Her steady presence. The way she looked at him—not as an idol, not as a celebrity, but simply as Chris.

His chest tightened slightly. Then, slowly, a faint smile appeared on his lips.

"Soon," he said.

It wasn’t a promise. Not yet. But it was the closest he had ever come.

And for the first time in five years, Chris St. Claire finally felt like he was ready to take a step forward.

Even if it terrified him. Even if it changed everything.

Because some things...

Were worth the risk.
