The suite was quiet once again.

Only the soft glow of the bedside lamps illuminated the room while the lights of Paris shimmered beyond the balcony windows.

Chris and Liliana remained standing close together. Neither of them wanted the night to end.

After years of misunderstanding and hiding their feelings...

And years of believing they were trapped in a marriage without love. Everything had finally changed.

Chris gently intertwined his fingers with hers.

He smiled. "I should probably go."

Liliana looked at him. His words said one thing. But his eyes said another. He wanted to stay. She could tell.

Chris let out a quiet laugh. "I don’t really want to leave."

She smiled softly. "I know."

He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.

"But..." He hesitated. "It feels wrong to ask."

Liliana tilted her head. "Why?"

Chris looked away.

"I don’t want you to think I’m taking advantage of everything that happened tonight.nYou’ve been through so much. I don’t want to pressure you."

He smiled awkwardly.

"Even if..." He glanced at her wedding ring. "...I’m your husband."

Liliana’s heart warmed.

Five years.

Even now, he was still more concerned about her comfort than his own wishes.

She lowered her eyes before quietly laughing.

Chris blinked. "What?"

"You really are hopeless sometimes."

He looked completely confused.

"I am?"

She nodded.

"You want to stay."

"...Yes."

"But you’re too afraid to ask."

Chris laughed softly. "I guess I am."

Liliana took a slow breath. Her cheeks turned pink. Then, gathering every bit of courage she had, she looked directly into his eyes.

"You don’t have to ask."

Chris froze.

"I..."

She smiled shyly.

"Stay."

For several seconds, he simply stared at her.

"...Really?"

She nodded.

"I don’t want you to leave either."

Those simple words made Chris’s heart race faster than any concert stage ever had.

His smile slowly spread across his face.

"Thank you."

Liliana gently squeezed his hand.

"You don’t have to thank me. This is your room too."

He chuckled.

"I’ve waited five years to hear you say something like that."

The room was illuminated only by the soft glow of the bedside lamp. Outside, the city lights shimmered through the large windows, but inside, the world seemed to belong only to the two of them.

Chris stood quietly in front of Liliana.

For years, he had dreamed about this moment. Not because of desire alone.

But because, after five years of marriage, they were finally free to love each other without hiding. Without pretending. Without fear.

He slowly reached for her hand. His fingers intertwined with hers before he gently drew her closer until she rested comfortably against him.

She could hear his heartbeat. Strong. Steady. Almost as loud as her own.

"I’ve imagined holding you like this so many times," he admitted with a quiet laugh.

Liliana smiled shyly. "So have I."

He looked into her emerald-green eyes for a long moment before lifting a hand to brush a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

"You look beautiful."

"You’ve already told me that today."

"I know."

He smiled. "But I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of saying it."

Her cheeks warmed. "You always know how to embarrass me."

"I only tell the truth."

Silence settled between them again. A comfortable silence.

Chris leaned forward slowly, giving her every chance to move away if she wished.

Instead, Liliana closed the remaining distance herself.

Their lips met in a gentle kiss. There was no urgency. No rush. Only years of longing finally finding their place.

When they separated, Chris rested his forehead against hers.

"I still can’t believe you’re really here."

"I’ve always been here."

She smiled softly.

"You were just too busy writing songs."

He laughed.

"Fair enough."

She gently wrapped her arms around his neck.

For the first time since they had married, neither of them had to worry about cameras, rumors, or the world outside.

It was just Chris and Liliana.

Husband and wife.

Chris brushed another tender kiss against her forehead.

Then one against her temple.

"I spent so many years wondering if I deserved someone like you."

Liliana looked up at him.

"You never had to wonder."

"I did."

He smiled sadly.

"You gave up your dream for mine."

She shook her head.

"I didn’t lose my dream."

He looked confused. "What do you mean?"

"My dream changed."

She reached up and gently cupped his face.

"When I was younger, I dreamed of standing under bright lights."

She smiled warmly.

"But somewhere along the way, my dream became standing beside you."

Chris felt his throat tighten.

"Lily..."

"I’ve never regretted choosing us."

A tear escaped the corner of his eye.

She immediately laughed softly and wiped it away with her thumb.

"You’re crying."

"I’m trying not to."

"You failed."

"I know."

They both laughed quietly.

Chris rested his forehead against hers once again.

"I love you."

The words were simple. Yet they carried twenty years of unspoken feelings.

Liliana’s eyes glistened.

"I’ve been waiting a very long time to hear those words."

"I’m sorry it took me this long."

She smiled. "It was worth the wait."

She gently kissed him once more.

When they pulled apart, she whispered,

"I love you too."

Those four words lifted a weight Chris had carried for years. He smiled more brightly than she had ever seen.

Then, without another word, he embraced her.

She melted into his arms, listening to the familiar rhythm of his heartbeat—the same heartbeat that had comforted a frightened four-year-old girl beneath an old staircase twenty years earlier.

Outside, the city continued to shine.

Inside, two people who had loved each other since childhood finally began the marriage they had been waiting five years to truly share.

That night was not remembered because it was their first night together.

It was remembered because it was the first night they no longer had to hide.

And for Chris and Liliana, that freedom was more precious than anything else in the world.
