Morning sunlight streamed through the curtains, painting the hotel suite in a warm golden glow.
Chris slowly stirred awake. For a few moments, he simply listened.
The room was peaceful. Quiet.
Then he realized something. Liliana was asleep beside him.
Her head rested gently against his chest while one hand lightly held onto the front of his shirt. Her breathing was calm and even, and a few loose strands of brown hair framed her peaceful face.
Chris couldn’t stop smiling.
So this wasn’t a dream... He thought.
Everything that had happened over the past few days replayed in his mind.
His confession.
Her confession.
The conversations they had waited years to have.
And finally...
Falling asleep together without fear or misunderstandings between them.
He carefully brushed a strand of hair away from her face.
"So beautiful," he whispered.
As if hearing his voice, Liliana shifted slightly before slowly opening her eyes.
Their gazes met.
For several quiet seconds, neither of them spoke. Then her cheeks gradually turned pink.
"Good morning," Chris said softly.
"...Morning."
She blinked several times before suddenly realizing how close they were. And naked on the bed...
Her eyes widened.
Almost instantly, she pulled the blanket up to her chin and disappeared beneath it.
Chris stared at the moving blanket before laughing quietly.
"Lily?"
No answer. Only a small lump beneath the blanket.
He chuckled.
"Why are you hiding?"
A muffled voice answered from underneath.
"I’m embarrassed."
Chris laughed a little harder.
"Embarrassed?"
"You weren’t this shy last night."
The blanket moved again.
"Stop! Don’t remind me!"
He couldn’t help smiling.
"My wife has become a blanket burrito."
"I’m not coming out."
"Oh?"
"And why not?"
"Because..." She hesitated. "...I’m too embarrassed to look at you."
Chris rested his chin on one hand, watching the blanket with amusement.
"I promise I’m not laughing at you."
"You’re laughing right now."
"...Maybe a little."
"You see!"
He shook his head, still smiling.
"I’ve never seen you this cute."
A few seconds later...
The blanket suddenly jerked.
"Ah!" Liliana let out a startled yelp.
Chris immediately sat upright.
"Lily? What’s wrong?"
From beneath the blanket came an embarrassed voice.
"I... I saw something..."
Chris blinked. "What did you see?"
She squeezed her eyes shut, refusing to emerge.
"I don’t want to say it!"
Chris realized what she meant.
His face reddened for the briefest moment before he burst into laughter.
"Lily, you saw that last night and you..."
"Stop it! Don’t say anything! And stop laughing!"
"I can’t help it."
"Chris! Oh my! Why are you..."
"I’m sorry. You’re so adorable."
She hid even deeper beneath the blanket.
"This is so embarrassing..."
Still smiling, Chris gently reached for the edge of the blanket.
"Come here."
Very slowly, Liliana peeked out, revealing only her eyes.
"You have to make it..." Her face turned bright red and couldn’t finish her sentence.
"I’ll try."
"You don’t sound convincing."
"I’m doing my best."
She finally emerged, still blushing furiously.
Chris smiled warmly.
"There you are."
Before she could hide again, he gently took her hand. She looked at him. His expression had softened completely.
No teasing. Only affection.
He brushed a light kiss across her forehead.
"I’m happy."
Liliana smiled shyly. "So am I."
Chris gently drew her closer until they were face-to-face.
"You know..."
"Hm?"
"My wish finally came true."
She tilted her head.
"What wish?"
He smiled.
"Waking up beside the woman I love. And you know... Last night was amazing." He winked.
Her cheeks turned pink once again. "Why do you have to make it sound so embarrassing?"
"I’m just telling the truth. I’m really happy."
Without thinking, she rested her forehead against his.
"I think... Mine came true too."
Chris looked into her emerald-green eyes.
"So... Last night, how was it?"
She bit her lip. "Well, I like it. I mean, everything." Her cheeks turned red again, remembering last night.
He chuckled.
"No more misunderstandings?"
She smiled. "No more."
He leaned in slowly. Giving her every chance to pull away. Instead, Liliana closed the remaining distance herself.
Their lips met in a soft, lingering kiss. And when they separated, both of them were smiling.
"I love you," Chris whispered.
"I love you too."
Just as Chris leaned closer again—
Knock.
Knock.
Knock.
The two of them froze. They looked toward the door simultaneously.
Chris sighed dramatically.
"Terrible timing."
Liliana couldn’t help laughing.
"I think you should answer it."
Chris nodded.
"Give me a second."
He quickly slipped on a T-shirt that had been draped over a nearby chair and walked toward the entrance.
Opening the door without much thought, he smiled.
"Good mor—"
His greeting stopped halfway.
Emily stood outside. Beside her was Nathan. Both of them stared at Chris. Then at the hotel suite behind him. Then back at Chris.
Emily slowly raised one eyebrow.
"...Well."
Nathan blinked several times.
"So... You finally found him."
Before Chris could answer, another familiar voice echoed down the hallway.
"Emily!"
Robin hurried toward them, looking worried.
"Have you seen Chris? I went to his suite this morning and—"
He stopped mid-sentence. His eyes landed on Chris standing in Liliana’s doorway.
A wide smile stretched across Chris’s face.
Robin looked from Chris to the room. Then back again.
Silence.
Emily folded her arms, trying very hard not to smile. Nathan coughed awkwardly.
Robin finally spoke. "So, I guess I don’t have to keep looking."
Chris scratched the back of his neck sheepishly.
"Morning?"
Emily sighed dramatically.
"I think we’ve interrupted something."
From inside the suite, Liliana heard the voices.
Realizing who had arrived, she buried her face in a pillow.
"Oh no..."
Outside the door, Robin suddenly grinned.
"It took you five years."
Chris laughed without denying it. "Yeah. It did."
Emily smiled warmly.
"But it looks like it was worth it."
Chris glanced back toward the room where Liliana was waiting.
His smile grew even brighter.
"Yes. It really did."
Emily smiled widely. "So, are we going to expect a nephew or a niece soon?"
"Emily! I heard that!" Liliana shouted in embarrassment.
Robin shook his head. Then he realized they were standing outside the suite.
"Hey, you should head inside. Someone might see you." He warned Chris.
Chris nodded. "I understand. But tell my mom and dad, the others too, to meet us in my room."
Robin nodded.
