My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 297: After War Meeting [Part 1]

"Heal."

Leone used his healing powers to help the injured members of the Aslan Tribe. He prioritized those with serious injuries, ensuring their conditions wouldn’t worsen.

Daedalus had also brewed many healing potions, which Leone had distributed to the tribes that had helped them in the war.

Of course, this included the warriors of the Darkmane Tribe, who were currently setting up camp at the base of Grimjaw Mountain.

A few hours later, the young man finally finished his task.

"Good work, Leone," Yuni said as she handed him a cloth he could use to wipe the sweat off his forehead.

"Thank you, Yuni," Leone replied. "Have you eaten dinner yet?"

"Not yet." Yuni shook her head. "I was waiting for you to finish ‌your work so we could eat together."

Truth be told, Leone didn’t feel hungry.

No. It was more like he didn’t have the appetite to eat.

But, as the chieftain of the Aslan Tribe, he had to show everyone that he was fine. He didn’t want them to worry about him.

It was then that Kael appeared, informing Leone about the chieftains of the other tribes who wished to speak with him.

The battle ended three hours ago. Since then, everyone had been busy, dealing with the aftermath of the battle.

With the urgent matters out of the way, the chieftains wished to convene since all the leaders of the Borderlands were present. It was about time that they discussed what to do next.

"I’m sorry, Yuni." Leone sighed. "Looks like we can’t eat together tonight."

"It can’t be helped." Yuni smiled faintly before moving closer to whisper something in his ear. "I’ll stay with you tonight, then."

As soon as she finished those words, Yuni left in haste with a beet-red face.

Kael might not have heard what the young lady had said, but her actions were more than enough to tell him what had just happened.

A smirk appeared on the shaman’s face, which Leone decided to ignore completely. He had a feeling that if he tried to defend himself from his scrutinizing gaze, Kael would find a new reason to sneak Aria into his bed once again.

"Bring food and drinks to the third floor," Leone ordered before Kael could say anything. "I’m sure this discussion will take a while."

"As you command, Great Chieftain." Kael bowed respectfully.

Kael then gave orders to one of the warriors before following ‌Leone to join the meeting.

When they exited the cave, it was already dark outside, the sky already filled with stars.

The three women, who were Hassan’s subordinates, immediately stood at attention the moment their Young Master appeared. They all followed behind him, serving as his bodyguards while Leone’s vassals were still busy handling the aftermath of the battle.

When he appeared on the third floor, all the chieftains, as well as the important members of their tribes, had already gathered.

Leone sat in the seat of honor, which was at the head of the table.

Seated to his left was Godwin, while seated to his right was Malik.

Hagen sat beside Malik, while Jafar sat beside Godwin.

As for Gundar, he stood behind Hagen, visibly worn from his long journey.

He had traveled non-stop to warn the other tribes about the Monster Stampede before heading back to Grimjaw Mountain to help them fight against the monster army.

The great shaman should be resting right now, but this meeting was important enough for him to be present.

Oswald, Duncan, and Garen were also seated at the round table with solemn expressions on their faces.

On the other hand, Ragnar, Wayne, Vlad, Marcus, and Elias stood a distance away alongside the Elders of the different tribes.

They were there to listen and record the meeting that would decide the fate of the Borderlands.

"I will cut to the chase," Godwin said firmly. "I want to talk about how we will deal with the Bonegnash Tribe. Any suggestions?"

Since it had been confirmed that Osteon and his men had collaborated with the Monster King to conquer the Borderlands in exchange for Eden, this matter had to be taken seriously.

"I suggest that we wipe them out without mercy," Duncan replied.

"I agree with Duncan." Oswald nodded in agreement. "Not only did Osteon try to kill the leaders of each tribe, but he also dared to use Eden in exchange for the Monster King’s help. This is treason, and they must be given capital punishment."

"If we let him get away with this, he will definitely bring forth a greater calamity in the future," Garen said calmly. "As such, he must be executed at all costs."

While the three chieftains of the middle-ranked tribes made their opinions known, the chieftains of the high-ranking tribes kept their silence.

All of them were looking at the youngest chieftain among them, waiting for his reply.

"The Bonegnash Tribe must pay for their crimes," Leone commented. "I suggest that Osteon and his entire family be executed and let the Darkmane Tribe absorb their people."

For a brief moment, no one spoke.

Leone’s statement was so shocking, it caught everyone by surprise.

Even Jafar looked at the young man in disbelief. A part of him thought that Leone was just joking to reduce the tension in the atmosphere.

However, his next words confirmed that he wasn’t joking.

"Except for Jafar, nearly everyone gathered here already knows that Darkmane City is no more," Leone said before shifting his attention toward Jafar. "I ordered my vassals to burn it down to the ground."

Cain and Travis, who were also present at the meeting, shuddered after hearing what Leone had to say.

They had been subjected to Leone’s torture before, so they didn’t even doubt his words when he said that Darkmane City was no more.

As for Byron, his mouth hung open at his words. He was shocked, but a part of him still felt doubtful about Darkmane City being destroyed.

However, Gundar took that opportunity to speak up and confirm the young man’s confession.

"It’s true," Gundar said. "Darkmane City is no more, and only ashes remain. When I returned to warn them about what happened, I found out that the Bonegnash Tribe had already invited the survivors to live in their city while Troy was away."

Jafar clenched his fists tightly in response. His worst fears had become a reality.

He already had a feeling that since the Bonegnash Tribe dared to collaborate with the monster army, they would also attack Darkmane City while they were away.

Although Leone was the one who had struck first, Jafar believed that Osteon would have done the same thing. Aside from a few hundred warriors, Darkmane City was practically stripped of its military might. Would he really let go of their city?

It would be child’s play for the Bonegnash Tribe to subjugate them by force.

"They might use the members of the Darkmane Tribe as hostages if we attack them," Hagen voiced his opinion. "Perhaps we need to find a more civil approach to handle this matter."

Jafar frowned after hearing Hagen’s statement. Though since the safety of his tribesmen was on the line, he remained silent.

"There’s no need for that."

Hearing that, everyone shifted their attention toward the young man, whose tone sounded like he wouldn’t take no for an answer.

"Leone, you might not know this, but the Bonegnash Tribe’s fortress is similar to that of the fortress of the Aslan Tribe," Hagen replied. "Taking it down will not be an easy feat."

"Similar?" Leone smiled faintly as if he had heard the funniest joke in his life. "Can their fortress survive the bombardment of a hundred Fireshard Catapults? Let me tell you now. Only our fortress can take such a beating."

The confidence in Leone’s voice wasn’t born from arrogance.

It was backed by the overwhelming might everyone had witnessed during the battle against the Monster King.

If the Aslan Tribe could rain destruction upon an army of tens of thousands of monsters using the Fireshard Catapults, then reducing a single fortress to rubble was a far easier task.

Then again, it wasn’t only Leone who thought that what Hagen said was a joke.

Even Daedalus felt amused when the word "similar" was used.

If the Bonegnash Tribe’s fortress were similar to the Aslan Tribe in that it could repair itself automatically, then yes, they would be similar.

Daedalus doubted that such a fortress existed.

In fact, it even told Leone that it would create a hundred more Fireshard Catapults. That way, when they eventually declared war on the Bonegnash Tribe, a single volley from their catapults would be enough to erase their fortress from the face of the world.
