My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 328: Leone’s Matchmaking Operation [Part 2]

"V-Vlad, calm down," Jason said. "Put that dagger down, please?"

"Huh? Why am I holding a dagger?" Vlad blinked. Before he knew it, his hands had already unsheathed the dagger from his waist. "Oh, well. Since it’s already drawn, how about you let me stab you once?"

The corner of Jason’s lips twitched after hearing the teenage boy’s reply. How could he possibly let himself be wrongly stabbed for telling the truth?

The only reason why he had taken a chance to confess was because Vlad promised to help him!

"Vlad, please calm down," Jason stated. "Aren’t you the one who said you’ll help me?"

"If you were to marry Natalia, then I’d give you my full support," Vlad argued back. "However, my sister is off-limits!"

"You are fine with marrying me off to Jason?" Tianna asked, doing her best not to smile widely.

"Yes," Vlad replied. "If Jason marries you, then I’ll support him without fail!"

"Don’t forget what you said, okay?"

"I might be young, but I’m still a man. My word is absolute."

"Didn’t you just say that a while ago?" Jason commented. "Why are you backing out from your words now?"

"This is this, and that is that," Vlad replied without hesitation. "It’s not the same!"

"Okay. Both of you calm down." Natalia clapped her hands to stop the scene from further escalating. "Vlad, you know very well that the one who gets to decide who your sister will marry is our chieftain. Not you."

Vlad reluctantly put his dagger back into its sheath and sat down once more.

However, he was still glaring at Jason as if he had now become his mortal enemy.

Jason sighed internally before sitting down on his chair. Thanks to Natalia’s mediation, things had finally calmed down.

"Jason, convincing Lord Godwin will not be easy," Tianna said. "You need to gain a lot of merits to even get the chance to marry his daughter."

"I’m prepared," Jason answered.

"Even if he asks you to betray the Aslan Tribe?" Tianna arched an eyebrow.

"No." Jason firmly shook his head. "I will never betray the Aslan Tribe. If I betray it, then I will never be able to live through my guilt."

"But what if my father forced you to choose?" Vlad asked in a solemn tone. "Leave the Aslan Tribe, or marry my sister. Which choice will you make, then?"

"I’ll stay in the Aslan Tribe and also marry your sister," Jason replied without hesitation.

"Courting death!" Vlad hissed.

"I already knew it was an uphill battle to gain her affection," Jason admitted. "But I have no plan to give up."

"Hmph! I don’t approve of you." Vlad crossed his arms over his chest. "The only one who deserves my sister is Leone. Would you fight him for her?"

At those words, Jason was unable to give a reply.

If Tianna was really engaged to Leone, would he really have to fight with him?

Could he do it?

He probably could.

But would he want to?

After all, Leone was the person whom he admired and respected the most. Jason wouldn’t dare to harm even a single strand of his hair.

But what if Godwin really engaged Tianna to his Great Chieftain?

What would he do then?

"See?" Vlad raised his chin arrogantly. "You don’t dare to fight Leone over my sister."

Vlad was right. Jason would rather hurt himself than hurt Leone. He couldn’t bear to harm him.

So, would he simply stand by and let the lady he loved marry the person he admired and respected the most?

Just like Vlad, Jason believed that if he were taken out of the picture, there was no one else that was more deserving of Tianna than Leone.

He knew that his Great Chieftain was a kind and loving person. If he were to marry her, he would treat her like a precious treasure and love her for the rest of her life.

Just imagining them building a family and having children together had made Jason’s face turn pale.

"Excuse me," Jason said before standing up. "I’m already full."

Without another word, he left to return to his room inside the underground city.

Vlad didn’t even look at him as he returned to eating. Though, now that the standoff had ended, the teenage boy felt a bit guilty because he knew that he wronged Jason.

There was nothing wrong with loving someone. His sister was a very lovable person.

In fact, Vlad would be even more shocked if people didn’t love his sister. After all, she was very amazing!

"Sister, what do I do?" Vlad asked sadly. "I think I made a mistake."

Vlad was a good boy. He was just overprotective of his sister.

Deep inside, he was hoping that Leone would marry Tianna so that they could truly become family.

That was how much he liked and idolized the young chieftain of the Aslan Tribe.

In response, Tianna stood up and hugged Vlad, who buried his face in her chest. She then lightly patted his back, telling him that it was going to be fine.

"We can apologize later to Jason," Tianna said softly. "He is a good man. He will understand."

"Will he?"

"Yes, he will."

Tianna had no doubt that Jason would understand. Now that his feelings had been confirmed, she couldn’t help but feel both happy and sad at the same time.

After all, she wasn’t lying when she said that the one who would decide on who she would marry was her father.

In order for Jason to even stand a chance, he had to impress Godwin enough to allow their union.

And there was only one chance for him to succeed.

During the Tribal Gathering, there would be a Martial Competition between men who were below twenty-four years old.

Whoever became champion could ask one of the chieftains for a wish. As long as that wish didn’t go below their bottom line, the winners usually got what they wanted.

If Jason joined that tournament as a representative of the Aslan Tribe and won, then he might just get a chance to convince Godwin that he was worthy enough of his daughter.

Although the chance was small, it existed.

’I should talk to Leone later,’ Tianna thought as she continued to help her brother calm down. ’I should tell him about the tournament and help him train Jason to become the champion.’

This was the only way Tianna could think of Jason having hope aside from eloping with him.

Of course, eloping was the last resort. If anything, she wanted everyone to recognize Jason as someone worthy of her.

And to make that happen, she would have to tell Leone everything and hope that the young chieftain would lend her a hand.

Little did she know that Leone would be more than happy to collaborate with her.

However, there was someone else who planned on using the tournament as a Plan B to ensure that his agenda would come to fruition.

Within the territory of the Grimhowl Tribe...

"Is he ready for the tournament?" Hagen asked one of the Elders.

"He is," the Elder replied. "He is a peerless prodigy, one who is only seen once a century. He is the sole survivor of our experiments. He will make you proud, My Chieftain."

A faint smile appeared on Hagen’s lips as he looked at the young man, who was in his early twenties.

He had waited for many years and sacrificed more to ensure that this Tribal Gathering would be different.

A low growl escaped the young man’s lips, whose hands and feet had been shackled with dark steel.

He was the spear that Hagen had been preparing for years for the upcoming tournament.

An important key that would help him eventually become the Barbarian King of the Borderlands.
