Leone was a chieftain.
The Chieftain of the Aslan Tribe.
He knew that if he allowed people to look down on him, they would also look down on his tribe.
After all the sacrifices they had made to get this far, he would not allow anyone to look down on him and his people. Although he didn’t want to admit it, he learned a few things from Troy during the time that they faced each other.
So what if they were the Elders of the Sandreaver Tribe? The one who invited Leone to come was Malik, their chieftain.
Besides, they were the ones who needed his help. He could’ve ignored Malik’s request, but he didn’t. Instead, he accepted the invitation and genuinely came to help. So, regardless of what the opposition believed or thought about him, he didn’t give a damn.
Rashid and his faction started to stir once again after a few minutes of silence. Yet, before they could even say anything, Leone held up his hand.
"Who is the Chieftain of the Sandreaver Tribe?" Leone asked. "Is it you?"
The young man pointed at Rashid, completely ignoring everyone else.
"No," Rashid answered, the words he had planned to say stuck in his throat.
"Then you don’t have the qualifications to talk to me," Leone stated in return. "We are not equals. I came here at the request of the Chieftain of the Sandreaver Tribe. If you want to talk to me, then become Chieftain first."
His declaration almost made Rashid raise his stick and beat the disrespectful young man to death.
However, Brann and Otto’s glare stopped him in his tracks.
The two had unleashed their killing intent at him, reciprocating the killing intent coming from the Elder.
They had just fought a war against the Darkmane Tribe and the monster army. In other words, the killing intent their bodies exuded was the real deal.
Their killing intent made Rashid subconsciously take a step back. At the same time, it also made the Elders who opposed Malik feel intimidated.
"Malik, I want to talk business," Leone said calmly. "Let’s talk in private. Just the two of us."
Malik nodded in agreement. "Everyone, please leave. The Chieftain of the Aslan Tribe and I will now talk about important matters."
"We deserve to know what that important matter is," Rashid said through gritted teeth.
"No, you don’t," Leone commented. "You have no power here."
Malik smiled faintly at those words. It felt refreshing to see Rashid and his faction finally meet someone who refused to bend before them.
As their chieftain, he usually had to show them a measure of respect. But now that he was about to discuss important matters with another chieftain, their presence was no longer necessary.
At first, Rashid and his faction were prepared to resist. Fortunately, when Malik threatened to call the guards and have them tossed outside the house for everyone to see, they finally relented.
The guards whom Malik had brought with him had also participated in the war. On top of that, there were only a hundred of them. The fact that they were chosen meant their loyalty only belonged to their chieftain.
When the Elders were finally gone, Leone finally breathed out a sigh of relief.
He didn’t bother to hide it from Malik, which made the latter chuckle. It was his honor to see a side Leone wouldn’t show other people.
This was proof that the young chieftain trusted him very much.
"Looks like the Elders of your tribe are giving you a hard time." Leone smiled wryly.
"You’re right." Malik wholeheartedly agreed. "They are stubborn and afraid of big changes. They believe that our Guardian Deity will miraculously recover and that the Sandreaver Tribe will become great again."
"Then, can I meet this Guardian?" Leone asked.
The true Guardian of the Sandreaver Tribe was not the Death Worms.
If anything, they were simply the subordinates of the Earth Dragon.
Once the Earth Dragon died, the Death Worms would no longer be under the control of the Sandreaver Tribe.
The worst-case scenario was that these Death Worms might even attack them. After all, no one could stop them anymore.
"You can meet it tomorrow," Malik replied. "As the guest of honor for the upcoming feast, you should rest for a few hours so you can enjoy the festivities later. For your safety, I will also station guards around your residence. I fear Rashid might do something reckless. And it’s better to be safe than sorry.
"I know I am asking for a lot from you, but if someone is ever sent to harm you, please don’t kill them. Just incapacitate them if possible."
"Understood." Leone nodded in understanding.
After all, killing a member of the Sandreaver Tribe might give Rashid the justification to arrest Leone, or worse, execute him.
Of course, he wasn’t too worried about this worst-case scenario.
He didn’t come to the Sandreaver Tribe unprepared.
Leone and his people could teleport back to the Aslan Tribe if they wanted to.
With that, Malik bade the young man goodbye as he went to see his family.
When the coast was finally clear, the grimoire finally spoke up.
"We should be careful of that Rashid fellow," Daedalus said in a serious tone. "That old man sounds like trouble."
"I agree," Brann replied. "People like that try to cling to whatever authority they have. If they don’t get their way, they will pull some strings to hurt others."
"Too bad we can’t eliminate him right now." Hassan joined in on the conversation while still hiding within Leone’s shadow. "If he dies, then we will be the first suspects."
"Maybe we should have brought Kael with us." Otto chuckled. "A snake ought to know how to handle another snake, after all."
Leone couldn’t help but smile. Had Kael been here, Leone wouldn’t need to speak a single word.
He would just sit back and let his shaman do the talking with his spit flying at Rashid’s face.
Since there would be a feast later on, Leone ordered everyone to rest.
Of course, Yuni joined Leone inside the bedroom and took a nap with him.
They were staying inside Malik’s residence, so they should be safe enough. Even so, Hassan and Daedalus remained inside the room to ensure no harm would come to Leone while he was sleeping.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the city of the Sandreaver Tribe...
"That arrogant brat!" Rashid angrily spat out after he returned to his residence with the other Elders who also belonged to the opposing faction. "Who does he think he is? What makes him think he can be so arrogant in front of us just because he won against the Darkmane Tribe and the Monster King?!"
"That’s right!" One of the Elders snorted at those words. "This is the Sandreaver Tribe. Our home! Does he really think he can throw his weight around like he owns the place?!"
"Everyone, I know you all feel indignant right now." Another Elder tried to calm everyone down. "But why don’t we observe him for now? Who knows? He might just be able to save our Guardian."
At this, everyone calmed down a bit. They had tried everything to save their Earth Dragon, as well as make its egg hatch. Yet nothing they did yielded any results.
Even so, they were struggling to accept that Malik had brought in outsiders to help them solve the problem.
"I agree we should give him a chance." One of the Elders nodded. "Our pride is nothing compared to the safety of the Sandreaver Tribe. Rashid, you are not allowed to harm the Chieftain of the Aslan Tribe during his stay."
"Fine." Rashid clicked his tongue at that. "I’ll let that brat be arrogant for a while longer. However, the moment he fails to live up to our expectations, I will no longer hold back."
"If that happens, no one here will stop you," the Elder agreed. "We will even help you chastise that arrogant chieftain and teach him his place."
Now that everyone had reached an agreement, they all decided to hold back for now.
At least, that was what they discussed on the surface.
Deep inside, they had their own plans and agendas.
Even Rashid had only agreed on the surface, yet he was already hatching up a plan to subtly bring Leone down a peg during the feast that would be held in a few hours.
