"Did you have a good sleep?" Malik asked as soon as Leone and his entourage joined him for breakfast.
"I did," Leone replied. "I slept well last night."
Too well, in fact.
After all, Yuni made sure of that.
The young man’s complexion was good, silently stating that all his needs had been well taken care of last night.
While the breakfast wasn’t as luxurious as the one they enjoyed every day in the Aslan Tribe, it was still quite filling and satisfying.
Since Leone didn’t wake up as late as he had originally expected, Malik decided to bring Leone to see their Guardian after they finished eating breakfast.
He hoped the young man could either help save the Earth Dragon or help the egg hatch to secure a new Guardian.
Along the way, Daedalus briefed its Master on the situation.
’Then, do we have a way to save it?’ Leone asked.
’There is a way, but...’ Daedalus sounded hesitant. ’The price is too steep. We would have to use the core of the Bronze Dragon for it.’
Leone’s expression turned solemn after hearing Daedalus’ reply.
He was saving the core of the Bronze Dragon for the future, perfectly aware of its immeasurable value.
’Aside from using the Dragon Core, is there anything else we can do to help?’ Leone inquired.
Daedalus was a divine artifact, after all. Plus, it also had access to the Arcane Shop.
Perhaps, there was another way to save the Earth Dragon or the Dragon Egg. However, it would cost them too much BP.
BP that Daedalus didn’t want to part with at this time.
’Well, there is this potion that we can buy, but it costs 200,000 BP...’ Daedalus’ voice was tinged with heartbreak.
Clearly, it was reluctant to buy the potion or use the Bronze Dragon’s core to help the Earth Dragon or the egg recover.
Leone didn’t say anything. Even for him, the price needed to pay was too steep.
He might have a lot of BP now, but he had already used 200k for the Aslan Tribe.
The young chieftain bought the complete package of the Heaven Piercer War Arts for 150,000 BP, raising it to the Legendary rank.
He also bought the long distance communication crystal that he had handed to Travis, which cost him another 50,000 BP.
Both of those purchases were important, so Leone had been able to accept the cost.
However, this time, it was different.
He would need to part with the resources he currently had without it benefiting the Aslan Tribe as a whole.
Sure, the Sandreaver Tribe would become extremely grateful to him. However, his tribe relied far too heavily on BP, which was necessary for their growth.
After walking for nearly half an hour, they finally arrived at their destination.
’It’s quite big,’ Leone thought.
Although it wasn’t as big as the Monster King, the Earth Dragon was at least thirty meters long.
’It’s an Elder Dragon,’ Daedalus said. ’At its prime, it should have been at least a Rank 7 powerhouse.’
’Does that mean it fought something like a Rank 8 Monster King a hundred years ago?’ Leone pondered.
’It’s possible,’ Daedalus stated. ’After all, it fought the Monster King with its wife. Both of them must’ve been at least Rank 7 when it happened. Though, the mother might have been a bit weaker since it was pregnant with a child.’
While Leone and the Earth Dragon sized each other up, Malik stepped forward to do the introductions.
"Leone, this is the Guardian of our tribe, Lord Azar," Malik said calmly. "Lord Azar, he is the Chieftain of the Aslan Tribe, Leone Frontera."
"It’s an honor to meet you, Lord Azar." Leone bowed respectfully toward the Earth Dragon, whose entire body was covered with gray scales.
"It is also my honor to meet the Chieftain of the Aslan Tribe," Lord Azar replied.
Malik was surprised because the Earth Dragon usually acted a little arrogant, even to him. Yet, toward Leone, it spoke kindly as if talking to a friend.
"I am already aware of your situation," Leone stated. "There is a way to save both you and your egg. However, the price is too steep for me to pay alone."
"Leone, as long as you can save them, the Sandreaver Tribe is willing to pay any price," Malik declared. "May it be Sand Steel or any other resource, just name it and it’s yours!"
Leone shook his head at those words. "If you have any magical treasures or the like, please present them to me."
One of the ways for him to earn BP according to Daedalus was to sell things at the Arcane Shop.
However, he would only be able to fetch a good price if the item was rare enough or was in short supply.
Though, he and Daedalus doubted that the Sandreaver Tribe had something that could be exchanged for thousands of BP.
"I have a treasure trove I hid in the Sandreaver Desert," Lord Azar declared. "My wife and I have collected many treasures back when we were still traveling the world together. I am willing to give you everything as long as you save our child."
At the mention of a Dragon’s treasure trove, Leone and Daedalus immediately stood with rapt attention.
Daedalus already found it weird when it sensed no treasure in the Dragon’s nest when it heeded the other party’s call.
In fact, there were no hidden treasure vaults within the entirety of the Sandreaver Tribe. At least none where the Dragon could have hidden its treasures.
Dragons typically liked to collect things. The rarer they were, the more they coveted them.
With that said, there were many stories of heroes obtaining powerful weapons and armors after they raided a Dragon’s nest while its owner was away.
And now, that same opportunity had presented itself to them.
"I will show you its location, as well as the means to open the magical formation that protects it," Lord Azar stated. "However, only you and your companions are allowed to go there. No one from the Sandreaver Tribe is allowed to go near it."
Malik didn’t feel bad about this sudden condition. He didn’t care about the treasures in the Dragon’s nest. If anything, the only thing he cared about was the continuation of his tribe.
Lord Azar raised its claw, and soon, a small orb of light formed on its tip. This orb then shot toward Leone, hitting his head before he could even react to this sudden turn of events.
The young man’s face contorted in response as a flood of information was directly poured into his mind.
If not for Yuni supporting him, he might have already collapsed on the ground due to the pain that assaulted his senses.
A few minutes later, Leone finally recovered. Even so, his face was still pale, and his head also ached a bit.
"It has been a hundred years since I left this place," Lord Azar said. "I don’t know if my nest is still there, but hear my warning. My treasure vault is not located in the nest itself. It simply has the magic formation that will teleport you there."
"Um, based on the information you have given me, that nest is not in the Borderlands, right?" Leone asked. "Instead, it is very far to the north, which the two of you built a thousand years ago."
"That’s right." Lord Azar nodded. "My wife and I traveled the world in the past, and we just happened to face the Monster King here in the Borderlands. I don’t know if my nest still exists. But if it does, whatever you see there is yours."
Leone didn’t know whether he should be disappointed or not. Many things had happened in a thousand years. It was near impossible for the dragon’s nest to be untouched.
It was more likely for the nest to have been discovered by someone, who must’ve taken the treasures that Lord Azar and his wife had gathered in their lifetime.
Of course, he couldn’t say anything in the face of the dying Earth Dragon.
After bidding goodbye to their Guardian, Malik led Leone and his group back to the surface. From there, they would fly to the location where the Earth Dragon had created a waypoint that would bring them to its dragon’s nest.
’Maybe the treasure is still there,’ Leone thought. ’If that’s the case, wouldn’t we become very rich?’
’You really are a bundle of positivity, Leone,’ Daedalus commented. ’But you’re right. If the nest is still untouched, we will become very rich!’
The two hyped each other up, trying to push away the doubts inside their minds.
Yet, none of them noticed the solemn look on Lord Azar’s face when it suddenly remembered something important.
’...I forgot to tell them not to open the white box that I placed at the central pedestal of my nest,’ Lord Azar thought. ’Then again, maybe it’s no longer there. Maybe someone else has already opened that thing.’
The one who managed to open that box would find themselves in big trouble.
After all, that box was something that fell from the heavens during the era when Demon Lords were still waging war across the entire continent for world domination.
