Now was the most vulnerable time for Lord Azar and its child.
For this reason, Leone went to look for Malik and asked him to order a complete lockdown of the area for an entire day.
Malik took this matter seriously, so he ordered his closest subordinate to call out the warriors who had accompanied him to the Aslan Tribe.
They were his most loyal warriors. Not to mention, they had been baptized by the great battle against the Monster King. They didn’t take orders from anyone aside from Malik.
With them around, no one, not even Malik’s own family, would be able to get past the blockade that led to the lair of their Guardian Deity.
Leone also didn’t like to leave things unfinished, so he and his people decided to stay until Lord Azar and its egg were done with their transformation.
Although the Elders sensed that something big was about to happen, given the sudden tight security within the tribe, none of them made any move to oppose it.
After all, they were aware that it had something to do with their Guardian Deity. However, none of them were stupid enough to sabotage their own tribe.
A day later... Leone finally sensed a faint ripple of power coming from Lord Azar’s cocoon.
At that moment, something was starting to stir. This made the young man believe that the time had come for the Earth Dragon to finish its transformation.
Suddenly, the sound of something cracking reached his ears.
Noticing that the giant cocoon was about to break, Leone ordered his people to back away for the time being. Anything could happen next, and it was better to be safe than sorry.
The moment the cocoon fell apart, they came face to face with a monster that looked both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.
Its head retained the unmistakable features of a Dragon. However, two enormous deer-like antlers now extended from the back of its skull.
Long whiskers moved from its snout as if they were swaying from the faintest of winds.
Its body didn’t have the bulky frame of an Earth Dragon. Instead, it was long and serpentine, stretching for dozens of meters before ending with a pointed tail.
Four sturdy legs protruded from its elongated body, each ending in several razor-sharp claws that looked more than capable of tearing through solid stone.
However, what immediately caught Leone’s attention was what the creature didn’t have.
There were no wings on its back.
Not even the slightest trace of them.
And yet, the enormous creature was hovering several meters above the cavern floor, its serpentine body slowly coiling through the air as though it were swimming through an invisible river.
When this creature finally opened its eyes, it let out a roar that shook the underground cavern.
Malik immediately came running after hearing this roar, followed by four of his warriors. They had no idea what just happened, but that roar alarmed them enough to go and check what was happening inside the lair.
"L-Lord Azar?!" Malik looked at the monster in front of him, which was at least thirty meters long.
It was looking at its claws and body, as if inspecting what kind of creature it had become.
"Calm down, Malik." Lord Azar’s familiar voice spread inside the cavern. "All is well."
At the moment, Lord Azar could feel a power he hadn’t felt in a century. In fact, he felt like he had even surpassed his former strength during its peak by a small margin.
After inspecting its body, it lowered its head until it was only a few meters away from Leone.
"Thank you, Leone," Lord Azar said. "But can you tell me what kind of monster I have become? Am I still an Earth Dragon? I don’t really look like one."
Since Daedalus had immediately strapped itself around Leone’s waist the moment it sensed that Malik and his subordinates were coming, it decided to pass the information directly inside its Master’s head.
"You are now called a Shanlong," Leone said after getting the information from Daedalus. "It’s a Wingless Dragon, but you can still fly. In a way, you are still an Earth Dragon, Lord Azar. That’s because a Shanlong also specializes in Earth Elemental Magic."

The Shanlong boasted high-speed movement, as well as a very tough body.
Although its physical strength was lower than that of a normal Earth Dragon, that downside was compensated with more powerful Earth Elemental Magic.
In fact, the current Lord Azar might be more formidable than its former self, which specialized more in defense rather than offense.
Daedalus then told Leone that it could pass the information on the Shanlong directly into Lord Azar’s mind as long as he touched a part of the Dragon’s head.
After telling this to the Dragon, it didn’t hesitate to move closer so that the young man could touch its snout.
A few minutes later, Leone pulled his hand back after transferring all the information to Lord Azar.
"I see... quite interesting," Lord Azar muttered after fully understanding its abilities.
Raising the tips of its claws, it manifested a boulder out of thin air.
Then, without warning, the boulder flew toward the wall of the cavern, creating a loud explosion that sent dust and dirt flying at the point of impact.
"Not bad." Lord Azar nodded in satisfaction after seeing the scale of destruction that it had caused.
As for Malik, he was overjoyed at the sight. After all, the more powerful their Guardian, the safer the Sandreaver Tribe would be.
Suddenly, the sound of something breaking reached everyone’s ears.
At that, Leone and Lord Azar’s attention immediately moved towards the dragon egg.
Small cracks had also appeared on its surface, which meant that the Dragon inside of it was about to hatch.
Lord Azar moved closer, its head only a few meters away from the egg that it had protected and cared for nearly a century.
A small head then broke free from the egg, peeking out to look at the world around it.
When it saw the Shanlong, it immediately retreated back to the egg as if it was scared off by what it saw.
Lord Azar didn’t know whether it should laugh or cry at its child’s first reaction upon seeing it.
Even so, it was still relieved that the child that it thought would never see the light of day had finally hatched from its egg.
The last legacy of its wife, the child that it had waited nearly a century to meet, was alive and well.
Soon, Lord Azar lowered its head even further, trying its best to appear less intimidating to the frightened hatchling that was peeking at it from inside its shell.
The Shanlong could only hope that in time, its child would come to recognize the parent that hadn’t given up and protected it for all these years... even at the cost of its own life.
