My Kingdom Building Done Right!
Chapter 345: What We’re Going To Do Is TabooNot wanting to cause any misunderstandings, Leone explained to Lord Azar the plan he had in mind to save it and its egg.
However, when the Earth Dragon heard that the egg might turn into a different monster aside from a Dragon, a frown appeared on its face.
"Is there really nothing else that can be done?" Lord Azar asked.
The concept of Beast Synthesis was something it didn’t see coming. Then again, as long as its child was saved, it didn’t really care what method was used to achieve it.
Even then, it still wished for the egg to be born a True Dragon rather than a hybrid one.
"This core is the core of a Black Dragon, isn’t it?" asked Daedalus, who had forced Lord Azar to swear an oath of secrecy to prevent it from divulging the grimoire’s secrets to others.
"That’s right," Lord Azar replied.
"We plan to use this core to help you recover from your injury," Daedalus explained. "Though, if you want to prioritize saving your child instead, we can use it on the egg. However, the result will still be undecided since we don’t know how it will react with another ingredient."
That ingredient was none other than the blood of the Monster King, which was from a Bronze Dragon.
In short, the egg of the Earth Dragon was the main ingredient, while the core of a Black Dragon and the blood of a Bronze Dragon would be the supporting ingredients.
Since they were using parts from three different dragon breeds, the final result would be among the three.
Of course, there was also a chance of mutation.
Since they were using three ingredients, a Hybrid Dragon could be born. Even so, it would still be a True Dragon in a sense.
After explaining this to Lord Azar, he reluctantly agreed to go with it.
"Then what about you, Lord Azar?" Leone asked. "Is it alright even if you will no longer be a Dragon after Beast Synthesis? There’s a possibility that you will become another beast due to mutation."
"I have already lived for hundreds of years," Lord Azar replied. "I don’t care what becomes of me as long as my child can be born a True Dragon."
Seeing its determination, Leone truly understood how much the Earth Dragon cared about its child as a parent.
"Understood." Leone nodded at its words. "Let us proceed with the Beast Synthesis then."
"Can you assure that no harm will come to the egg?" Lord Azar asked anxiously. "This Beast Synthesis is safe, right?"
"Safe isn’t the right word to use here," Daedalus replied before its Master could. "If anything, we are trying to create something that defies the laws of nature. You, as a Dragon, should know that what we’re about to do is taboo. We are not Gods, and yet, we are attempting creation like what the Gods do. Of course, it’s not going to be safe."
The grimoire did not sugarcoat its words. If possible, it wanted to avoid any misunderstandings.
Lord Azar knew this as well. There was always a risk that things wouldn’t go the way they planned.
The perfect example of this was the Beast Synthesis experiment that Leone had conducted in order to create Drakes that could fly. The Frillcrest Lizard and the Dragonmaw Tyrant were two examples of their attempts going wrong.
With that said, the last thing Daedalus wanted to happen was for Leone to be blamed by Azar if the egg turned into something far from what a True Dragon looked like.
"So, you’re telling me that even if we use three supporting dragon ingredients to stabilize the process, the result is still uncertain?" Lord Azar asked in a serious tone.
"Exactly. "Daedalus nodded. "So, are we going ahead with it or not? Just remember that you’re not allowed to blame me or Leone if this synthesis doesn’t work. Do not forget that you are the one asking for help. We’re just doing our best to help you."
The Earth Dragon closed its eyes before heaving a long and heavy sigh.
"Understood," Lord Azar replied. "I will not blame you even if something wrong happens. As long as my child gets to live, I don’t care what form it takes."
"Good. Then let’s start." With that, Daedalus opened its pages and bathed the Dragon Egg in golden light.
Then, the Dragon Core and the Monster King’s blood flew towards the egg, merging to become one.
The light remained for nearly a minute before the egg reappeared in front of everyone’s eyes.
At this point, the outer shell had changed, making it look nothing like an ordinary Earth Dragon egg.
Instead, its surface appeared to be made from overlapping black scales. Yet, it wasn’t completely black. Along the edges of each scale were thin golden lines, giving the egg an almost metallic appearance.
With its unusual shape and layered surface, it looked less like a dragon egg and more like a giant seed that they were seeing for the very first time in their lives.
When Lord Azar saw this change, its expression turned solemn.
"Daedalus, what’s that egg?" Leone asked. "Can you appraise it?"
"Already did." Daedalus’ reply was immediate. "I’ll show it to everyone."

"Black Adamantine Dragon?" Leone blinked. "What kind of Dragon is that?"
"...A mutant," Lord Azar replied. "My wife and I met one during our wanderings. Its temper is just as volatile as that of a Fire Dragon. And just as the name suggests, its scales are made up of adamantine, which means it has the hardest scales among the Dragon race. It is nearly invincible against physical attacks.
"The only way to injure it is through elemental magic. Still, only those above Third Circle spells can effectively deal damage to it. In fact, a fully grown Black Adamantine Dragon can ram a stone castle with its body, destroy it, and fly away as if it were just passing through a cloud."
"Damn..." Leone muttered in disbelief.
The young man concluded that a Black Adamantine Dragon was practically a flying battering ram that could obliterate fortress walls without problems.
However, another thought came to his mind.
A thought that Daedalus, Yuni, Brann, and Otto could see on his face.
"""He’s probably thinking of using the Black Adamantine Dragon as another convenient monster to help with his digging projects."""
Their Great Chieftain’s obsession with gathering enough workers to bulldoze through the Grimjaw Mountain Range was already a well-known fact among them.
Fortunately, Lord Azar had no idea what the young man was thinking. Otherwise, it might have already slapped him to death for even thinking of using its child as free labor!
"You no longer have anything to worry about, Lord Azar," Leone said after regaining his composure. "Your child will be born soon."
Lord Azar nodded in response. A part of him felt that the weight that it had been carrying for nearly a hundred years had finally disappeared from its shoulders.
With that, the only thing that remained was its own recovery.
"Lord Azar, I’ll be honest with you," Daedalus said. "We originally intended to use the Monster King’s blood, as well as the core of a Rank 6 Black-Scaled Basilisk for your child. Now, we will use that on you instead.
"There is a chance that you will no longer become a True Dragon, but that of a Lesser Dragon bloodline."
A faint smirk appeared on the Earth Dragon’s face in response. "It doesn’t matter. Go ahead and start the Beast Synthesis."
Daedalus glanced at Leone after that, to which the young man nodded.
"Then let’s begin." Daedalus opened its pages once more.
Soon, light washed over Lord Azar’s body as the grimoire combined the ingredients for the Beast Synthesis.
When the light receded, a giant cocoon made of flesh appeared at the center of the cavern.
A strong heartbeat could be heard from inside it, proving that Lord Azar was now in the process of its transformation.
