My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 350: Return To The Helion Duchy

"This is a good spot," Leone said as he looked at the space in front of him.

"I agree," Daedalus replied. "It’s also near the entrance leading to the exit of the cave."

After making sure that it wouldn’t disturb future structures that might be built in the underground city, the grimoire opened its pages and carefully placed the temple on the ground.

Leone’s vassals had all come, curious about what their chieftain was planning to do.

"A temple of a Goddess?" Kael muttered while looking at the statue of the deity, its face worn out beyond recognition.

Time had not been kind to the temple, having already completely lost any traces of its divinity.

Seeing the temple reminded Leone of the Giant Antlion that Lord Azar had decided to capture as a gift for Leone.

However, when the baby dragon saw it, the pitiful Antlion instead became its plaything.

In the end, Lord Azar apologized to Leone and said that he would deliver the Antlion to Grimjaw Mountain in at most a week after his son had grown bored of playing with it.

Since Leone wasn’t in a hurry and wanted to continue having a good relationship with Lord Azar, he accepted his proposal.

Daedalus’ voice snapped Leone out of his daydreaming, making him return his focus to the task at hand.

"Do you wish for me to restore the temple to its original state?" Daedalus asked.

"Yes," Leone replied. "Please do it, Daedalus."

"Very well." The grimoire nodded as it opened its pages, bathing the temple in light.

Soon, the temple, which was a mere shell of its former glory, suddenly underwent a drastic change.

The damaged parts were repairing themselves right before their eyes. Even the statue of the Goddess suddenly became whole again.

"Beautiful..." Leone muttered after seeing the statue of the Goddess Eostre in its original state.

Yes, she was indeed a very beautiful Goddess.

The Goddess of Dawn, Spring, and New Beginnings.

Yuni gently raised Leone’s chin to close his mouth, for it had opened wide while staring at the Goddess.

Aria giggled after seeing this scene. Now, she had something to tease Leone about tonight when she stayed in his room.

"Ahem!" Leone coughed lightly after realizing what just happened.

This earned him a few chuckles from his vassals. It was a relief to be assured that their chieftain was very interested in beautiful women.

"Now, we need to test if the magic circle will still work even after we moved the temple from its original location," Leone said to change the topic of discussion.

With him at the lead, they soon entered the temple.

"Kael and Ulric, you will accompany me to the other side," Leone declared. "The rest, wait for us here."

""Yes, Great Chieftain!""

Leone then activated the magic circle inside the room, which took them directly into the Dragon’s Nest within the Helion Duchy.

When they arrived at the familiar cavern, Ulric and Kael’s eyes widened in shock after seeing the gold around them.

"Hahaha!" Kael laughed as he picked up a handful of gold coins and tossed it to the air. "We are rich!"

Even Ulric crouched down to pick up a gold coin before biting it, wanting to confirm if the gold coins were real.

Seeing the two act like this, Leone could only shake his head helplessly. Then again, he could understand why his vassals were acting like this.

After all, he, too, had acted the same way when he first arrived inside the Dragon’s Nest.

Suddenly, a voice reached their ears.

"Don’t tell me you plan to steal our share in secret, you no-good grandson?!"

The corner of Leone’s lips twitched. It hadn’t been that long since they arrived, and yet, his no-good grandfather already knew of their arrival.

Truth be told, Andreas Von Helion, the current Patriarch of the Helion Family, was afraid that Leone would go back on his word and secretly take the remaining gold inside the cavern.

This was why he made sure to reinforce the detection spell around the nest, which would immediately inform him if someone had suddenly appeared inside the Dragon’s Nest.

"You have trust issues, old man!" Leone shouted. "I’m not here to steal anything. I just want to talk."

"Fine!" Andreas replied. "What do you want to talk about?"

"I want news about the Kingdom of Britannia," Leone answered. "Do you now know where they plan to strike?"

Andreas didn’t reply right away. He was actually hesitating whether he should share the top-secret information he gained from his own investigation.

However, after thinking that Leone might steal the gold coins if he gave him fake information, Andreas decided to come clean.

"It seems that the Radiant Empire and the Kingdom of Britannia had a secret agreement," Andreas replied. "They plan to attack the Barbarian King of the West together. Or at least, that’s what I gathered. There’s the possibility that it’s just a smokescreen."

"A smokescreen?"

"Yes. A diversionary tactic. While it’s true that there have been talks between the two sides for a collaboration, it might just be a ploy by the Radiant Empire to force the barbarians and the Beastkins to go on the defensive. With that said, our king is as sly as it gets. He will use anything, even a bluff, to play mind games with his enemies."

Leone frowned in response. Based on this information, they could expect the Kingdom of Britannia to really head south once they finished their war preparations.

"Gramps, I will visit again at the same time after three days," Leone stated. "If possible, I would like to talk to my mother at that time."

"As long as you promise not to take even a single gold coin from our share, then I’ll let the two of you talk," Andreas replied. "Don’t think for a moment that I didn’t see that man beside you store some of my gold inside his storage ring!"

"Fine." Leone agreed before glancing at Kael. "Return the gold coins, Kael."

The shaman sighed before returning the gold coins he had secretly stored inside his storage ring.

Although he was fond of gold coins, he couldn’t defy the order of his Great Chieftain.

"We will return in three days," Leone repeated. "Until then, please gather as much information about the movements of the Kingdom of Britannia. Even a small rumor is fine."

"Very well." Andreas agreed. "I’ll see you in three days."

After the talks ended, Leone left the cavern with his two vassals.

"It’s a shame we couldn’t take any gold with us," Kael said sadly.

"Oh, you don’t have to worry about that," Leone smirked in return. "We already got half of it during our first visit."

Then, as if proving that his words were true, Daedalus opened its pages and released the gold coins inside its storage.

Soon, the sound of tinkling coins filled the interior of the temple, making Kael, Ulric, as well as Leone’s other vassals stare at the pile of gold coins that had appeared right before their eyes.

Kael laughed out loud at the sight, making him completely forget the petty amount that he had tried to sneak inside his storage ring earlier.

With this amount of money, the Aslan Tribe wouldn’t have to worry about money problems for the next few decades.

"Great Chieftain! With this much gold, we will be able to sweep away all the items in the grand auction that will be held during the Tribal Gathering!" Kael said with confidence. "It is time to show the other tribes that the Aslan Tribe is not only strong, but also wealthy!"

"That sounds like a good idea." Daedalus nodded in agreement. "Hah! I can’t wait to see the faces of the other chieftains when they realize they can’t outbid us!"

At that, Kael and Daedalus laughed like third-rate villains, already thinking of ways to increase the prestige of the Aslan Tribe in the upcoming gathering of the most powerful tribes in the Borderlands.
