My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 366: Infiltration Operation Begins [Part 1]

Night eventually descended upon the Aslan Tribe.

Seated on the couch in the living room, Vlad peered through the window. He had just finished eating dinner and was doing his best to calm his nerves before his infiltration mission.

His scrolls were already stored inside the storage ring Leone had gifted him.

The map of the underground tunnels had also been memorized.

Now, all he needed to do was begin.

Suddenly, he heard knocks on the window.

He rose from the couch and hurriedly unlocked his window.

Finally, the moment of truth had arrived.

*Squeak!*

The flying squirrel greeted Vlad as soon as the window was opened.

"Is everything ready, Blitz?"

*Squeak!*

The teenage boy smiled faintly after hearing Blitz’s confident reply. The flying squirrel even patted its chest as if it was saying, "Leave everything to me!"

The smile on Vlad’s face widened a bit at the sight. He was someone who knew and accepted his shortcomings.

Although he was a capable strategist, there were things that he simply couldn’t accomplish by himself.

And that was why he had decided to overcome his shortcomings by asking a few helpers to assist him in completing his mission.

Blitz was the first of those helpers.

The flying squirrel gestured for Vlad to follow him. The two then slowly made their way down the stairs of the villa that led to the inner fortress of the Aslan Tribe.

The two then moved leisurely through the path as if they were simply taking a night stroll.

The guards they passed along the way recognized both the flying squirrel and the teenage boy.

Some of the warriors even greeted them as they passed.

*Squeak!*

"Good evening," Vlad greeted the warriors politely.

The guards smiled and nodded in return.

"Good evening, Young Master Vlad."

Nobody stopped him.

Vlad was free to wander around the fortress, so there was nothing suspicious about him walking through the settlement at night.

That was precisely why the teenage boy had decided to begin his infiltration mission from inside the Aslan Tribe.

Though the real challenge wasn’t getting through the fortress.

If anything, it was entering the cave.

The entrance to the underground tunnels had always been heavily guarded.

Four warriors were stationed there at all times.

Vlad couldn’t simply walk past them.

So, he and Blitz headed toward a designated spot approximately one hundred meters away from the cave entrance.

Once they arrived, both of them hid in the shadows.

Vlad crouched down, while Blitz stood on his shoulders.

The teenage boy then glanced toward the cave entrance with a serious expression. This was the moment of truth.

The first hurdle he needed to overcome.

The four guards were casually chatting with each other. However, that didn’t mean they weren’t taking their jobs seriously. In fact, they were the elites of the Aslan Tribe.

Them being the first line of defense meant that they had been meticulously handpicked to protect the entrance to the cave.

Vlad and Blitz stayed in their hiding spot for five minutes when the flying squirrel suddenly sensed something.

*Squeak!*

The high-pitched sound that was nearly impossible for normal humans to hear spread throughout the surroundings.

A moment later, a squeak answered the squirrel’s call.

*Oink!*

At that moment, Porkchop appeared from within the cave as if it owned the place.

The Great Pudge was Vlad’s second helper, and its mission was to distract the guards long enough for Vlad to slip through.

*Oink!*

"What’s wrong, Porkchop?" one of the guards asked the pig while patting its head. "Hungry again?"

*Oink!*

"But you just had your dinner."

*Oink!*

The guards chuckled. This wasn’t the first time Porkchop had tried to ask the guards to give it some additional snacks after it finished eating dinner.

"Fine, you can have a jerky," one of the guards said as he took out a jerky from his food pouch.

Porkchop ate it happily. When it was gone, it raised its hoof and lightly tapped the foot of one of the guards that hadn’t given it anything to eat.

"You really are a pig, huh?"

*Oink.*

"I wasn’t complimenting you, you know?"

The guard helplessly shook his head before taking something out from his pouch.

While this was happening, Vlad took out one of his scrolls and activated it. Soon, a cloak appeared in his hands, which he used to cover himself up.

This was actually an invisibility cloak that would allow him to sneak past the guards guarding the entrance.

However, its effects lasted for only five minutes. Not to mention, he couldn’t ignore the possibility of the guards sensing that something was amiss, so he needed a distraction.

Porkchop was playing its role perfectly, so Vlad decided to take this opportunity to slip past the guards who were busy feeding the pig at the moment.

With that, Vlad carefully made his way toward the entrance of the cave. His heart was thumping so loudly inside his chest that he feared the guards could hear it.

The teenage boy passed through the first guard and then successfully walked past the second guard.

However, when he was just about to bypass the third guard, the latter suddenly moved, making Vlad stop in his tracks.

"What’s wrong?" One of the guards asked his friend why he suddenly looked tense.

"I sensed something just now," the third guard said while looking at his surroundings.

At that moment, Vlad was just a meter away from him, crouching as low as he could. He pursed his lips and made sure not to move, preventing any noise that would make the guards sense that something wasn’t right.

*Oink!*

Porkchop tapped the foot of the third guard, as if telling him that it was now his turn to feed him.

Since the guard didn’t see anything, he simply scratched his head for a bit before taking out a jerky from his pouch using his free hand.

"Fine. Stop tapping my foot, would you?" The third guard sighed and handed the pig what it wanted.

Porkchop was eating noisily in response, as if trying to drown out the surroundings.

Blitz lightly patted Vlad’s cheek after seeing that, as if telling him it was now or never.

Vlad didn’t need to be told twice, so he forced himself to move until he walked past the third and fourth guard.

Even after he entered the cave, the teenage boy didn’t lower his guard.

He continued to walk as stealthily and as fast as he could until he arrived at the first small cavern, which the guards used as a resting spot during their shifts. Just in time, the invisibility cloak’s effects also expired.

Vlad decided to rest for a bit to calm his wildly beating heart.

Deep inside the cavern of the Aslan Tribe, Leone smirked faintly as Daedalus reported that Vlad had successfully entered the cave.

"To think that he will ask for Blitz and Porkchop’s help. He is really a resourceful boy," Aria, who was giving Leone a back massage, said after hearing Daedalus’ report.

Leone sighed comfortably as Aria continued massaging his back.

Her hands applied just the right amount of pressure, slowly easing up the tension that had built up in his body throughout the day.

"We’ll see how far he can go," Leone said. "Daedalus, can you project his every action to us?"

"Of course," Daedalus replied. "Would you prefer to see his attempt to reach this place?"

"Yes," Leone answered. "We can use this opportunity to fix the flaws in our security. Honestly, I should be thanking Vlad for showing us how future spies or assassins might bypass our defenses."

"Understood." Daedalus nodded as it opened its pages, showing a projection of the teenage boy who was currently thanking Porkchop for its help.

The underground tunnels were the Aslan Tribe’s escape route if an invasion occurred. With that said, having Vlad point out their own shortcomings was a lesson Leone and Daedalus were more than happy to learn.
