My Life as an Awoken

Back at the bunker, we continued our day of slacking off. We watched tv and relaxed.

Just as we were about to go to sleep we started getting alerts from the Federation, Albion, and Francia. We were getting reports that terrorist attacks had happened all over each of these countries.

They were all almost exactly the same. A middle eastern person who was a religious fanatic that had been thrown out of their own country for their fanaticism. They had walked out of their homes and walked miles as if in a trance to the closet church.

Once there they waited outside for a while before yelling as loud as they could in a raspy voice, "Glory to the true god!" When they yelled that they exploded.

I decided to look at a video of some of the people from beginning to end.

The video was spliced together by the AI to make a video of the terrorist from all angles we have from them leaving their house to the end.

The video starts with a man leaving his home. He is dressed in a robe and has a white headdressing. His face has a large thick beard which makes seeing his expression hard. However, his body language is a bit weird.

His arms don’t sway as he walks, his steps seem eerily equidistant, and his head doesn’t bob at all.

The video jumps from one perspective to the next until I get a good look at his face. His expression is blank, he looks totally zoned out. Maybe he is being controlled? Or is he a psychopath?

I need to keep watching.

He walks for 15 minutes before reaching the church. There, he walks to the front door and stops just short of his toes and nose from actually touching the door. His nose is literally barely a hair’s width from toughing the door.

Then he just stands there for 5 minutes. Not moving, scratching, and hardly even swaying. All of a sudden he takes a deep breath and screams at the top of his lungs in his native language, "Glory to the true God!"

You see his body start to bloat and turn a vibrant bright red until, BOOM! His body erupts in a fiery explosion.

The next video starts in the same way as the last, the only difference is that this time it is a woman. She is wearing a robe and a Hijab. The good news is that she has her face uncovered. All of the other terrorists had face coverings or large beards that obscured their faces.

She alone was the exception. But that didn’t make her any different to the others.

She still left her home, walked, didn’t drive, to the local church. There was an event going on there, a wedding. This allowed us to have a bunch more angles and videos, but that came at a cost. One that shouldn’t have been born.

Because of the summer weather the door to the church was open. You could hear cheers and joyful laughter pouring out of the church. The couple was just married and walking back down the aisle arm in arm.

However, the mood started to shift as they noticed the woman standing in the entryway. She wasn’t moving or saying a thing. Her face was completely devoid of any emotion.

The couple slowly came to a stop, just like the jovial atmosphere. Everyone was now looking at the woman, recording her, whispering about her, wondering what she was going to do. Her back lit silhouette added a growing feeling of fear and uncertainty.

When, just like the others, she took a deep breath.

This time however we could see her face. Her eyes formed crescents and her smile stretched across her face. She screamed, "Glory to the true God!" While she screamed that, there was a moment where a projection seemed to show up on her face.

BOOM!

Like the others her body swelled and exploded sending blood, guts, fire, and bone shrapnel into the crowd.

People screamed and dove for cover, windows shattering sending glass everywhere. It was pandemonium, cries for help from loved ones, cries for their parents, and cries for their children. It was a chorus of pain and suffering, one that was conducted by someone or something evil.

Stopping the video and going back to the moment the projection appeared on her face. It was another face, overlapping her own.

It was a man, he had a full manicured beard with braids and was wearing a white shawl over his head. His most defining feature was his striking one eye. It was the most defined part of the projection with the rest appearing as though it were a light mist.

So we can conclude that they were definitely controlled. However, we don’t know if they were willing to be controlled or not. Typically you would obviously say no, but you never know with some people.

While I was getting the information together to send to the relevant governments I noticed something a little strange. Some of the terrorists waited a lot longer than some of the others.

I had the computer tell me the exact time all of the terrorists exploded and put it on a world unified time.

Just like I thought. All of the terrorists exploded at the same time. Despite being in different countries with absolutely no contact they all did the same thing at the same time.

I had all of their background information and none of the terrorists had ever met before. In fact the only common thing between all of them is that they were expelled from their countries for their religious fanaticism.

They had no way of knowing the others even existed.

The only commonality between them was their religion. Then that must be the link. But it’s not like any of the others practicing the religion did anything. So is there a limitation, or is it related to the level of fanaticism?

Based on the data it has to be the fanaticism.

That just made me think of the priest at Layla’s family’s church. He definitely had a cultist fanaticism about him.

I should look into that as well. Later though I need to focus on this first.

Looking into the religion and its history I found one really good suspect. Though it is pretty unlikely.
