With the defences in place we could focus on the cyber attacks and developing the energy training technique.

The week I had spent building our defences, Xue Qing had mounted the cyber attack. The attack had been a great success, the Fengbao family was losing millions every day.

With their businesses locked up they couldn’t serve customers or provide products. With that happening on a large scale they were unable to make any meaningful amounts of money.

With no inflow of cash but a continued outflow, they were losing money hand over fist. They still had to pay their employees and utilities for all of their factories and stores.

Then on top of that, their stock price was falling every second. That alone had cost them over a billion dollars.

But today, something changed.

Today, there was resistance. They had obviously been trying to break our offensive, but to no avail.

That was until today. It was slow, but little by little, they were fending us off. They weren’t able to fight back, but they could get some systems functional and back online.

We weren’t sure how they were doing it, because on all accounts they shouldn’t have been able to do that.

The Fengbao family is a family that focuses on pure profits. They can invest in studies and development, but they won’t own it. Not outright.

So, while they have invested plenty into supercomputers, they did so through research institutions and grants. They don’t have full access to those resources to use on demand.

Those supercomputers are also only used for research purposes, they aren’t designed for counter hacking or cyber warfare.

Even if they did utilize them it wouldn’t matter. With the upgraded quantum computer it was like throwing an egg at a rock. Completely ineffective.

So, how were they managing to find us off?

We have no way of knowing. Maybe it’s a master hacker, maybe it’s an ability. Either way we need to keep the pressure against their interest.

We are using less than a single percent of the total computational power we have at our disposal. The only thing we need to do is increase the resources used for the cyber attack.

With one setting change the resistance the Fengbao family had scrapped together fell apart.

I could only imagine the chaos and despair felt by the Fengbao family right now. The thought of their plight brought a smile to my face.

...

Over the next 3 days there were various attempts to counter our hacking, but all of them failed.

During those 3 days the reconnaissance had increased. The spies actually seemed a bit frantic. They were pushing themselves and the limits of what they could get away with. Because of their haste we were able to identify most of their spies.

However, the plan isn’t to catch the spies, but wait for an actual attack. If we get rid of the spies, then they will send new ones and be more careful. It’s better to keep an eye on the ones we know and try to plan based on their movements.

...

2 days later, that attack happened.

In the middle of the night, shadows flickered and moved silently. The night was overcast and drizzling. The light of the moon couldn’t penetrate the clouds leaving the world veiled in shadow.

The attack came in 3 distinct groups attacking simultaneously.

The first group was a convoy of 10 armored vehicles with heavy machine gunners sticking out of the roofs.

The second group was a pair of helicopters, they were also mounted with heavy machine guns.

The third group was a batch of ability users, they were invading from the back quietly, but quickly. Extremely quickly. They all had the ability of super speed.

Everything happened simultaneously.

When the armored vehicles got into range the towers shot up out of the ground and started the fire fight. The towers shot at the armored vehicles and the heavy machine gunners returned fire.

The first 3 armored cars were shredded almost instantly. The remaining 7 armored cars survived because the heavy gunners were disabling the guns on towers with their return fire. The towers were made to deal damage not tank it. The thin metal armor was penetrated like paper.

Then they engaged the army of bodyguards. Who had their own armored cars and personal coil guns.

However, against the heavy machine guns shooting 50 caliber bullets they were little more than a distraction.

The bodyguards were turned into scattered meat chunks. Their sacrifice didn’t go in vain. While they were getting brutalized the other towers turned the remaining 7 armored cars into hole filled sculptures.

The delay that caused the death of a large number of bodyguards was caused by the helicopters. They were equipped with 50 caliber gatling guns that dished out crazy damage.

But, that damage output couldn’t give them better maneuverability. After the first 2 towers they managed to take out they were shredded in the next second.

The only group left was the ability group. They were fast enough to dodge bullets and with only 9 towers left the 10 of them shouldn’t have had anything to worry about. Except for one thing, the weather that was favorable for sneaking, wasn’t so good for running at high speeds.

The first ability user to die, died because he took a turn too fast and slipped on the wet grass. He was quickly turned into an afterthought.

As the others slowly snaked their way closer the AI created a new way to catch them.

The trail of bullets would keep tracing behind the speedsters. Then it would calculate their possible evasion routes. Once it did that it would launch an attack on all of the routes at once.

This would cause the speeding ability users to quickly try to stop or alter their course. Which would lead to them either running head first into a wall of bullets or stopping and having the tracing bullets catch up and riddle them full of holes.

Only one managed to survive the onslaught.
