My Life as an Awoken

Chapter 173: Energy Discovery

With the method figured out I could start the plan.

I got a laptop and a high resolution camera. This way we would be able to have a video call and be able to see the energy. We could achieve this by plugging the camera into the laptop and using it as a webcam.

With everything prepared I handed everything over to some bodyguards and sent them out to the import and export company.

The company mainly focuses on counter tops for kitchens or bathrooms. They have a direct relationship with the mines that could be useful. Even with all of our money it would be hard to acquire all of the mines related to quartz. Mainly because most foreign countries would interfere with us creating a global monopoly on a resource.

So, instead we will try to lock them down in a strict contract that links them to us. The plan is to see if the quartz crystals are what holds energy. If it is then we will try to acquire the counter top company.

We will do that because that allows us to acquire contracts with quartz quarries without too much suspicion.

We will still try to acquire as many mines as we can but we will have to be very secretive about it or very vocal about a false reason we are acquiring them.

When the bodyguards arrived we got a saleswoman to show us around the showroom that had lots of samples. The saleswoman was a very stylish woman, she had lots of golden accessories.

She first showed us the Granite. The granite actually had spots of energy in it. The spots were sporadic and faint. They were also different colors and murky.

Granite is an intrusive igneous rock primarily composed of quartz and feldspar. The principal constituent is feldspar. Essential minor minerals can include muscovite, biotite, amphibole, or pyroxene.

The two main rocks, quartz and feldspar, are both minerals that have crystalline structures.

Next she showed us the Marble. The marble also had a glow, but it was more consistent in color. It was still faint and slightly murky. However, the veining in the marble had a brighter glow.

Marble starts as limestone or dolostone, then after heat and pressure it recrystallizes into calcite or dolomite.

Then we moved onto Quartz. The quartz was where we started to see something a little interesting. The quartz was like the others in that it had a slight glow and like the marble, the veining was glowing.

For both the marble and quartz the veins were glowing the brightest.

The veins in marble are made of crystallized mineral impurities such as iron oxides, clay, silt, quartz, graphite, and serpentine. That fills fractures or align within the stone during its metamorphic formation.

Quartz veins are made of pure crystallized silica, calcite, chlorite, iron oxides, or gold.

After that we moved onto Sintered stone. Sintered stone is an engineered, ultra-compact surface made from 100% natural minerals and stone particles fused together under extreme heat and pressure without synthetic resins.

It is made out of natural components like quartz, porcelain, clay, feldspar, and mineral pigments.

The sintered stone we saw didn’t have any veining. Perhaps that’s why the whole slab had a faint glow.

After the sintered stone we saw the quartzite. This time the whole slab was a murky colored glow. Huh, I wonder why that is and what that means?

We decided to get samples of everything so we could do more tests. At the counter to receive the samples the saleswoman put her hand on the counter in plain view of the camera. There we noticed a bright glow coming from the back of her hand.

I made the comment, "Oh! You have a nice ring. Did your husband get that for you?"

She was shocked for a moment before replying proudly, "Yes! That’s right! He got it custom made by a big brand."

I continued, "He must really care about you. Now that I think about it I still haven’t gotten you your ring despite having been married for so long, have I?"

Xue Qing played along, "No, you haven’t, but I don’t really mind. Your presence is the only gift I need."

I played it up, "Awe, now you are making me feel quilty. I’ll get you one as soon as possible. Here, we can have the guys go to a jewelry store next."

Xue Qing said, "Oh, you don’t have to do that. Those guys are already overworked, they don’t need to do any more work."

This time one of the bodyguards spoke up, "Don’t worry madam we can handle it. We will stop by the jewelers next."

Xue Qing said, "Oh, ok. Thank you, but don’t push yourself."

Once the samples were secured the bodyguards quickly made their way out of the store. They left the saleswoman standing there looking a bit dumbfounded. She probably didn’t expect to eat a mouthful of dog food despite being married.

When the bodyguards got back into the car they asked, "Do you really want us to go to the jewelry store?"

I replied, "Yes, go to the jewelry store. Call us back when you get there."

"Alright."

...

30 minutes later we reconnected the call.

Now in the jewelry store we were faced with another saleswoman. She happily introduced all of the products one by one.

She showed off all kinds of rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings.

As we looked at them one by one our understanding grew with each gemstone that passed. We saw Rubies, Sapphires, Emeralds, and most importantly Diamonds.

They each glowed much brighter than anything we had seen so far.

The Rubies and Sapphires glowed with a fewer amount of colors and the colors were more ambiguous, like cyan or a burnt umber.

The Emeralds glowed with more colors but the colors were more distinct, like a very light blue.

Finally, the diamonds, they glowed all colors. Like a pile of rainbows. Each diamond had a very bright glow and distinct color, like bright red or verdant green. So far diamond was the brightest gem by far.
