My Life as an Awoken

While we were looking at the diamonds we noticed that some of the diamonds were glowing brighter and that it had a pattern.

The pattern was the cut of the gemstones. Some cuts seemed to be able to hold more energy.

This was also the case for the other gem stones.

We needed to get a few samples of each for testing purposes. So, we bought a bunch of jewelry with a few types of each cut gem stone.

We also got artificially created diamonds. They didn’t have a noticeable difference from the natural diamonds.

Afterward, I had the bodyguards go to one more place. The jade and uncut gem market.

The market is located at a junction of two streets. The entire market is made up of hundreds of stalls. Most of the stalls have cheap jewelry and jade accessories or just tumbled smoothed gems.

However, one of the shops has a vast collection of uncut gem stones. The shop had 6 rows of shelves that had 2 layers of large boxes filled with uncut gems.

The entire store was glowing so brightly that it was hard to see anything in the store. The gems were all non-expensive. There weren’t any diamonds, but there were large boxes of rubies, emeralds, sapphires, quartz, calcite, topaz, gypsum, turquoise, and more.

There was one gem in the store that was shining like the sun. It was a large quartz crystal that was on display. Unlike all of the other quartz I have seen today, this one was shining brighter than a diamond. A clear anomaly needed to be investigated.

We had the bodyguards approach the shop keeper who was an old man reclining and smoking a cigarette.

When he was approached he opened his eyes just enough to see what was going on. Then he said in a rough voice, "What’s all the hubbub about, just pick something and pay for it."

Xue Qing was quick to reply, "We want to buy everything. How does that sound?"

The old man paused and looked out of the corner of his squinted eye at the computer screen and sized everyone up. When he was satisfied he said, "Sure sure, if you can pay for it I’ll sell it."

He rose from his fold out chair and started his calculations. While doing the calculations he was talking to himself, "Hmm, a box weighs 50 pounds, for 1 pound of sapphires that’s $100..."

Once he got to the end of his calculations, Xue Qing said, "We also want the crystal on display. How much is that?"

The old man’s confusion lasted for a moment before he said, "Hmm? Crystal? Oh! That one. That one isn’t for sale. That’s my lucky crystal, I won’t sell it no matter how much you offer."

Xue Qing asked, "Then can you tell us about it? Like why is it lucky?"

"Hmm, sure. This is a naturally formed double terminated hexagonal quartz prism. This is how a pure quartz crystal naturally forms if it is allowed to grow in an isolated environment. Usually they grow off of a host rock which leads them to having only one terminated side.

This is especially interesting because quartz has a trigonal crystalline atomic structure. This means that a quartz atom is a triangle, but when they are put together at exact angles they form a hexagonal double terminated prism. I find this specifically to be very beautiful."

This time I asked a question, "What would happen if it grew to be a trigonal double terminated prism to match the atomic formation?"

The old man snorted and said, "That’s impossible. So, there’s no point in asking. But, if it did, that would be something to see."

Xue Qing spoke, "Well, thank you for the lesson. How much is it for the lot?"

The old man told us the number and we paid for it. Then he asked us if we had a way to transport everything. Right about that moment the door opened and a crowd of bodyguards swarmed in and started moving the boxes out one after the one before.

Within 2 minutes the entire store’s stock was emptied out.

While the bodyguards carrying the laptop were on their way out of the market both Xue Qing and I said at the same time, "Stop!"

The bodyguard froze waiting for orders. Xue Qing was the one to dish them out, "Go over there, to the jade gambling area."

The bodyguards walked over to the jade gambling area. The area was a large courtyard with rocks laying around. Each rock had a price tag on it. When you wanted to pay you would walk over to the middle aged guy with a beard and he would handle the rest.

The rest being getting guys to move and cut the stone. You didn’t have to cut it immediately but most people did. People would often sell their jade to the traders waiting in the area, hoping for a lucky sucker.

Someone who won big and didn’t know the value.

However, we didn’t have to be lucky. We could tell if there was a jade, because a jade would radiate energy that we could see. We could also see how big or how good the quality was by the energy coming off of the rock.

We had a real cheat for jade gambling.

This cheat would save us some time and money, which will definitely help us. Because I can tell that we are getting ready to spend a ton on energy crystal resources.

I know that we are going to have to find a way to procure more diamonds and other kinds of gemstones. Since our preliminary inferred information shows that lab grown gems are not inferior to naturally grown gems then we will have to acquire businesses that grow gems.
