My Martial Dao Has No Bottlenecks
Chapter 147 - 98: Clan Annihilation (Part 2)"Now that the evidence is irrefutable, do you have any objections?"
Yan Song’s voice was ice-cold, echoing through the ancestral hall.
Liang Cheng actually found it a bit strange. ’How did we get this evidence so easily? It’s as if it was just waiting for us to come.’
However, Liang Cheng didn’t voice his doubts. Many people at the scene had likely sensed that something was off, but no one would say anything.
Using the now-worthless Xu Family to quell the Martial Arts Academy’s fury couldn’t have been more fitting. Liang Cheng also wanted the Xu Family wiped out to completely resolve the matter of Cause and Effect, so why create unnecessary complications?
"The Xu Family colluded with the Fire Worship Cult, stole mining resources, murdered innocents, and plotted rebellion. According to the laws of Lin Wu City, they are to be executed."
THUD!
A Xu Family Elder collapsed to the ground, snot and tears streaming down his face. "Elder Yan, Liang Zhenchuan, spare our lives! This was all the old masters, all the Patriarch! We didn’t know anything, we really didn’t know!"
"You didn’t know?"
Yan Song picked up a secret letter and opened it directly.
"Three years ago, on the seventh day of the twelfth month, your Xu Family sent thirty able-bodied servants to West Mountain outside the city under the guise of purchasing supplies for the New Year festival. Three days later, thirty desiccated corpses appeared in the mass grave on West Mountain. And this order—it was you who signed it, was it not?"
The Elder’s face instantly turned ashen. Yan Song tossed the letter back into the box, his gaze sweeping across the room.
"Xu Jinjiang was the mastermind, and Xu Tianxing has already been executed. The rest of you are accomplices. The Martial Arts Academy doesn’t practice collective punishment, but neither will it let a single guilty person go free."
He waved his hand.
Disciples from the Law Enforcement Hall stepped forward and shackled every member of the Xu Family. The specially forged Cold Iron Shackles could suppress the flow of True Qi—what hope did these family members at the Transformation Force realm or below have against them?
"Decapitate them all as a public example. All Xu Family assets are to be confiscated."
After speaking, Yan Song turned to look at Liang Cheng. Liang Cheng gave a slight nod. With a grand wave of his hand, Yan Song gave the order. The Martial Arts Academy Steward Disciples escorted the Xu Family members directly outside the gates of the Xu Mansion, forcing them to kneel in packed rows. A crowd of townspeople gathered to watch, whispering amongst themselves.
It was now Noon. The sun was bright, but the atmosphere was so oppressive it was hard to breathe.
Despite his pale complexion, Liang Cheng’s face was devoid of expression. "The Xu Family, having colluded with the Fire Worship Cult, plundered mining resources, murdered citizens, and plotted rebellion, is guilty of irrefutable and unforgivable crimes! In accordance with the law, they shall be executed to uphold justice and serve as a warning to all!"
As Liang Cheng’s gaze swept over their despairing, terrified faces, he felt no satisfaction, only resolve. ’The chain of Cause and Effect must be severed today.’
"Execute them!"
As his voice fell, the black-clad executioners standing behind the Xu Family members simultaneously raised their Ghost Head Sabers. The gleaming blades drew a cold arc through the air.
Heads rolled, and a sudden silence fell over the crowd.
This act by the Martial Arts Academy was a stark reminder of a thirty-year-old lesson: do not provoke a True Disciple of the Martial Arts Academy, or risk having your entire clan exterminated and your assets seized.
Everyone who looked upon Liang Cheng’s cold, indifferent expression felt a new layer of awe mix with their fear. This nineteen-year-old boy could annihilate an entire family without so much as blinking. He was a truly ruthless individual.
Ignoring the expressions of the crowd, Liang Cheng nodded to Shen Wenyuan and the others, then departed with Yan Song back to the Martial Arts Academy.
The entire Xu Family estate was sealed. This time, Martial Arts Academy Disciples formed a tight cordon, allowing no one to approach.
"Let’s go. Back to the Martial Arts Academy."
From this day forward, the once-illustrious Xu Family was erased from Lin Wu City.
...
A secret passageway twisted through the darkness, the air thick with the smell of mildew and ancient stone dust.
Li Mu led the way, holding a Fluorite Lamp that cast a hazy glow.
Liang Cheng followed behind him, moving in silence, nearly one with the shadows.
"We’re here."
Li Mu stopped before a seemingly ordinary stone wall. He pressed his hand against a specific spot, and with a surge of his strength, the wall slid silently inward, revealing a cramped secret chamber.
Inside was only a single table and chair. A flickering oil lamp cast a dim, yellow light, illuminating a haggard figure in coarse cloth robes sitting by the table.
Xu Feng.
Xu Feng, who should have been publicly beheaded, was somehow still alive. This was the secret task Liang Cheng had assigned to Li Mu—to swap Xu Feng with a death-row inmate, a substitution that had gone completely unnoticed.
Xu Feng looked up. In the wavering lamplight, his face was exceptionally pale and his eyes were bloodshot, but his gaze was calm, even carrying a trace of mockery.
There were no shackles on his hands or feet, but his Dantian had been destroyed and his Cultivation was gone. He posed no threat at all.
"What brilliant methods, Liang Zhenchuan."
Xu Feng’s voice was a little hoarse as he saw Liang Cheng appear.
"Who would have thought? I, a dead man, am now sitting in this place that never sees the light of day. Are you planning to squeeze every last bit of value out of me, or do you just need to vent a little?"
Liang Cheng signaled for Li Mu to stand guard outside. Li Mu exited, and the stone wall slowly closed, leaving only him and Xu Feng in the room.
Liang Cheng walked to the table but did not sit. He simply looked at Xu Feng calmly.
"Xu Feng, there’s no one else here. You can drop the act of resigning yourself to your fate."
Liang Cheng’s voice was quiet. "After Xu Tianxing died, you were the one who quickly stabilized the Xu Family from within. You managed your connections so that even though most of the Xu Family’s assets were seized, its core businesses were not completely severed."
"Xu Jinjiang has been in seclusion for a decade, paying no mind to family affairs. You know better than anyone what the Xu Family has done in secret, and you know even more clearly who is truly pulling the strings from behind."
Hearing this, Xu Feng’s fingers, which rested on his lap, twitched slightly. The look of mockery on his face deepened. "You’ve certainly done your research, Liang Zhenchuan."
Then, his tone shifted. "But so what? The Xu Family is gone. I’m just a fish on your chopping block now. What good would it do me to tell you anything more?"
"For you, it means you might die with a clear conscience. And you might even get to make certain people pay the price."
Liang Cheng didn’t get angry. On the contrary, his gaze sharpened, staring at Xu Feng as if he could see straight through his feigned composure and into his very heart.
