Chapter 1411: Chapter 1410: Night Raid on the Granary (Part 1)

"Yu Xin, we’re taking action tonight. You stay home. If anything happens to us, go find Junior Brother Chen Tianlong. Have him reorganize the Assassin Group. Under no circumstances should we let the Sabina people take over the Assassin Group. A century of legacy would be ruined by our hands. Even in death, I couldn’t face our forebears of the Assassin Group." Wu Guangzu approached and spoke of his worst-case scenario.

In truth, he wasn’t very confident about tonight’s battle. He wasn’t sure if there were more formidable people in Kuang Chenggong’s army. Moreover, they had thousands of troops nearby. If something went wrong, they might not make it back alive.

Actually, Wu Guangzu was overthinking it. Considering his current strength, coupled with Tan Batian, a beginner-level Celestial Dao seven-star expert, their escape shouldn’t be a problem.

Although Tan Batian broke through to become a Celestial Dao seven-star expert using the Qi Gathering Pill from the Celestial Pill Sect, his strength hadn’t fully stabilized yet. But in the Mortal Realm, he was already quite formidable.

"Alright."

Initially, Gu Yuxin also wanted to contribute, but considering the danger and that it wasn’t about having fun, she might hold them back if she made a mistake. Thus, she didn’t insist but surprisingly complied.

Before long, everyone dispersed and returned to their rooms to rest and prepare. Wu Guangzu claimed he wasn’t nervous, but that was false. This operation was crucial. If successful, the hundreds of Fire Dragon Gang members would survive. In about a month and a half, they could recruit more and attack the Assassin Group.

Thinking about this, Wu Guangzu didn’t rest but found Ru Nian and began reviewing the maps provided by Xiao Feng.

"Senior Brother Wu, the enemy troops are on the other side of the hill. But the hill isn’t large, about two li in length. We must be extremely cautious in this operation, avoiding any mistakes." Ru Nian pondered and continued, "Tonight, Xiaoliu and I will scout the route and the exact guard situation, then signal you all."

Wu Guangzu nodded, appreciating Ru Nian’s caution. Yet, a question crossed his mind: how to divert the guards? He said, "Junior Brother, should I distract the enemy guards while you sneak in?"

"Oh, it’s not that simple. They have over fifty people. I’m afraid if alarmed, we might face a full-scale siege, making it problematic," Ru Nian worriedly replied.

"Hmm, you’re right. We must move stealthily this time, avoiding detection. If discovered, we must deal with the enemy swiftly; otherwise, the consequences could be dire." Though Wu Guangzu disliked killing, these were Sabina people who had harmed many in Huaxia. Thinking of how his master was murdered filled him with rage.

"Hehe, don’t you trust your junior brothers’ Lightweight Skill? Tonight, let’s raid the Sabina people’s granary for a little lesson." Although dangerous, Ru Nian felt a thrill at the thought of teaching the Sabina people a lesson.

Soon night fell, and everyone gathered in the hall. Wu Guangzu and Ru Nian led several junior brothers forward, and Xiao Feng’s team was also ready. Everyone wore black outfits. Wu Guangzu approached and nodded to Xiao Feng, exchanging a knowing smile.

"Is everyone ready? You must follow Brother Wu Guangzu’s commands. Should anyone disobey, feel free to discipline them," Xiao Feng empowered Wu Guangzu, who felt a bit embarrassed.

"Ready."

Everyone shouted in unison.

"Uncle, rest assured. In critical moments, the brothers walk with you through life and death, focusing on the bigger picture, right, brothers?" Tan Batian stepped forward, speaking to the group.

"Yes, Gang Leader, trust that we will follow orders," the brothers shouted. These were loyal soldiers of Xiao Feng, absorbing the commands seriously like they would a general’s orders.

"Haha, good, then I’ll await your good news," Xiao Feng said, nodding to Wu Guangzu. Receiving the signal, Wu Guangzu quickly stepped in front of the group.

He scanned the entire team, totaling sixteen people and shouted, "Move out!"

With that, the group marched toward the destination, while the five brothers pushing carts followed at intervals. Tan Batian was among the five; he needed to manage the convoy. If something went wrong, even if the food was stolen, they wouldn’t be able to transport it.

Wu Guangzu and Ru Nian, along with several Assassin Group junior brothers and Fire Dragon Gang members, headed directly to the Sabina people’s granary. It was less than ten li, so they quickly reached the destination. Tan Batian’s convoy moved slower but closely followed.

"Third Brother, you and the others wait here. I’ll go ahead and scout," Ru Nian whispered to Wu Guangzu. The group hid in a small thicket near the granary.

"Alright, be careful," Wu Guangzu nodded and said.

"Got it, Brother," Ru Nian replied, then darted forward with astonishing speed.

Ru Nian was indeed the second brother but, besides being slightly weaker than Wu Guangzu, was not inferior in tactics or Lightweight Skill, even surpassing Wu Guangzu in strategy. This was because Ru Nian was the son of a general. After his father fell in battle, his mother sent him to the Assassin Group, where he trained for ten years.

In a flash, Ru Nian reached a position near the barbed wire. He lay flat on the ground, eyes locked on the nearby buildings ahead.

Near a particularly sturdy-looking building stood four people, while two soldiers guarded the warehouse’s gate. Inside the courtyard, about twenty patrol soldiers moved back and forth. In the courtyard’s center stood a watchtower with a soldier occasionally scanning the surroundings.

However, with the darkness so deep, he couldn’t see much anyway. The lookout soldier watched for a while and then dozed off.

Ru Nian allowed a small smile to form, knowing the opportunity had arrived. He signaled Wu Guangzu behind him, and everyone slowly advanced, their black clothing making detection difficult.

In a moment, eleven people gathered around the wire perimeter, where there was a gap. There should have been a wall, but whether due to age or some other reason, it had been pushed over for reconstruction. The gap was temporarily blocked by barbed wire.

"You wait here. Ru Nian and I will go first. Await my signal, remember the frog call," Wu Guangzu repeated their code, and everyone nodded, staying alert to their surroundings.

Wu Guangzu and Ru Nian cut the wire with their swords, opening a large gap. The two slipped through, then rolled to a position behind a nearby building.

Wu Guangzu peeked, a patrol passing nearby startled him. Both quickly pressed against the wall. In the dark, wearing black, the patrol didn’t notice them.

Soon after the patrol passed, they dashed to the back of the granary building. Four guards were stationed there, confirming it was the granary. They leapt onto the roof silently.
