At the mention of this name, a few nearby Star Seeds looked over. They were no strangers to it.

Defeating a Tier Six as a Tier Five wasn’t difficult for them. However, if the target was another Star Seed of the same caliber, or someone with a Divine Dawn Level Talent, the gap became an insurmountable chasm.

A flicker of wariness crossed Wei Zhenghong’s eyes before vanishing. He said indifferently, "Who knows? Su Chen has always been a loner, keeping to himself. I don’t know him very well."

Shen Yi’an just smiled without saying anything.

"I see." Han Xingliu seemed lost in thought, a hint of regret in his voice. "I’ve admired him from afar for a long time. It’s a shame I couldn’t witness his prowess today. I suppose I’ll have to wait for another time."

Wei Zhenghong frowned. The Star Seeds of the Royal Court were different from those of the great Sects, as the position of Emperor was at stake.

Given the Royal Court’s sphere of influence, this position carried more weight than even that of an Ancient King. Consequently, the fight for the title of Emperor was all the more brutal.

’Han Xingliu is a strong candidate for the next Emperor. It’s not good news for him to be this interested in Su Chen.’

Seeing Wei Zhenghong’s evasiveness, the other Star Seeds averted their gazes. Since they were now at the Bronze Sect, it was only a matter of time before they met this mysterious Star Seed.

Wei Zhenghong and his group were merely escorts. After dropping the visitors at their destination, they turned to leave.

Halfway back, an excited Wei Zhenghong could no longer contain himself. He activated his wristband and fired off several messages.

’The Ancient King appeared! This is huge! The others don’t know yet, I have to give them the full story. And Su Chen... too bad he missed it. It’s not every day you get to see the expressions on those Morning Star Tier masters’ faces change so dramatically...’

Shen Yi’an stood with his hands clasped behind his back, shaking his head slightly.

Su Chen, who had been sent back by the Bronze Ancient King just a short while ago, naturally received Wei Zhenghong’s message—

"Big news. It’s about the Ancient King. Come quick."

Su Chen looked at the text on the virtual screen, not particularly surprised. That was just Wei Zhenghong’s personality—whenever something exciting happened, he insisted on getting everyone together.

’The Ancient King’s appearance must have startled a lot of people.’

’I wonder how many are pleased and how many are worried.’

Curious about what had transpired at the port, Su Chen headed straight for Wei Zhenghong’s Floating Island.

"Hey, Old Su, you’re quick today!" As soon as Su Chen arrived, Wei Zhenghong came out to greet him, exclaiming, "I thought you had all notifications blocked while you were focused on your Profession’s progress."

"It’s a shame, you missed a huge show today."

Su Chen played dumb. "Oh? What show was that?"

"It’s a long story." Wei Zhenghong’s eyes darted around. "If I tell you now, I’ll just have to repeat myself when the others arrive. Let’s wait for them so I only have to say it once."

’This Old Wei, trying to build suspense,’ Su Chen thought, exasperated.

Seeing this, he didn’t press the matter. He greeted Shen Yi’an, sat down across from him, and began to drink the tea the other Star Seed had so carefully prepared, praising it profusely.

’For someone who loves building suspense, the best counter is to act completely uninterested.’

Wei Zhenghong noticed and kept shooting glances at him, looking like he was about to say something but holding himself back. In the end, he just looked disappointed.

Before long, Chu Ran, Zhao Ming, Jiang Mufeng, and the others arrived one after another.

In the face of Wei Zhenghong’s theatrics, only Chu Ran gave him the emotional reaction he craved, pressing him repeatedly, "What on earth happened? You said it involves the Ancient King! Hurry up and tell us!"

"What’s the rush?" Wei Zhenghong was finally satisfied but feigned a scolding frown. After Zhang Heng arrived, he finally began his story. "The Ancient King just appeared. And it was his true body."

"The Ancient King’s true body appeared?" Chu Ran was visibly shaken. "For real?" he asked in shock.

The others exchanged complex glances but showed little shock.

Jiang Mufeng remarked thoughtfully, "With the Four Great Sects and the Royal Court arriving together, it would have been a major liability if the Ancient King hadn’t appeared."

Wei Zhenghong was less than satisfied with their muted reactions and stressed, "It wasn’t just that he appeared! His Flame Fire seemed even more vigorous. Wu Yue from the True Martial Sect and the Peng King from the Royal Court—their faces changed on the spot. You should have been there, it was so satisfying to watch."

As Wei Zhenghong recounted the events in full, the expressions on everyone’s faces turned grim.

Su Chen was rather astonished. ’That Wu Yue from the True Martial Sect was so provocative he basically got in their faces?’

’If the Bronze Ancient King hadn’t shown up, the consequences would have been dire. No wonder he had to make the trip, even at great cost.’

Zhao Ming’s brow furrowed. "Wu Yue’s actions were completely out of line. Our two Sects have our feuds, but we never kicked the True Martial Sect when they were down a few years ago."

"Some grudges, if not swallowed, will be held for a lifetime," Shen Yi’an said, shaking his head.

"It’s a good thing the Ancient King appeared. Otherwise, who knows how far the True Martial Sect would have gone," Zhang Heng said with a hint of relief.

Chu Ran, however, was excited. "See? I told you! The Ancient King is so powerful, of course he’s fine. The rumors have been completely overblown, all that nonsense about his Flame Fire dying out and him being at death’s door."

"So what if the Ancient King Stele went haywire for a bit? Couldn’t that have just been because of Old Su?"

Su Chen shot him a look. ’Why are people still talking about that?’

Jiang Mufeng sighed softly. "I’m just afraid..."

He didn’t finish, but everyone except Chu Ran understood his meaning—he was afraid the Ancient King’s appearance was merely a stopgap measure.

"Have faith in the Ancient King," Wei Zhenghong suddenly declared, his clear voice breaking the somber mood. Everyone let out a collective sigh of relief and nodded. Nothing terrible had happened yet, so there was no need to fret over groundless fears.

The fact that the Ancient King could appear at all was, in any case, a good thing.

Then, his gaze fell back on Su Chen. "Ah, Old Su, there’s some bad news. Your reputation has gotten a bit too big. I’m guessing quite a few people have their eyes on you now. That Han Xingliu fellow even asked about you specifically."

"I’ll take things as they come. This is our Sect’s territory; what can he possibly do to me here?" Su Chen said calmly. He had already gotten some information from the Bronze Ancient King, so he wasn’t overly concerned.

Jiang Mufeng interjected, "That Han Xingliu is a dangerous character. Of the Royal Court’s three current Star Seeds, two are descendants of the Hanhai Emperor. Han Xingliu is the younger of the two, but his power is by no means inferior to his older brother’s—he may even surpass him."

"If he can take the top spot at this Peak Star Conference, his claim to the Emperor’s throne will be about seventy percent secured."

"Old Su, I wish you could give me half of that fame of yours," Chu Ran said with a hint of envy. Making a name for oneself in the Dust Star Sea was something many failed to achieve in their entire lives.

Su Chen shot him an amused glance. "I’d gladly give you all of it."

With that, Su Chen changed the subject. "Before the Peak Star Conference starts, isn’t there a preliminary selection? What’s the procedure for that?"

"The preliminaries?" Wei Zhenghong looked at him in surprise. "You want to participate? But..."

He trailed off, then grew pensive. "Although you’re only Tier Five, you did manage to defeat Qin Tianlin. I suppose you could participate. You might not even rank too low."

It had been several days since Su Chen’s advancement to Tier Six, and he could now mostly control his aura. While he couldn’t fool a Tier Nine or a Morning Star, people like Wei Zhenghong and Shen Yi’an would have a hard time seeing through his true level at a glance.

"The preliminaries don’t have a fixed procedure," Zhao Ming, who had experience with this, explained in detail. "The new satellite city, Dragon Abyss, will be finished soon. The selection will begin once it opens to the public."

"Based on past conferences, our Sect will likely implement a challenge system and establish a ranking, similar to the Holy List, to screen for the most exceptional individuals."

"I see..." Su Chen’s brow furrowed. "Won’t that take a long time to conclude?"

’Since it’s open to all eligible Professionals from across the entire Morning Star Sea, people are bound to arrive at different times.’

"That’s right," Zhao Ming nodded. "The preliminaries for the Peak Star Conference usually last for about a year to select roughly one hundred contestants. There are always a few dark horses, and some of them are even strong enough to trip up a Star Seed."

"However," Jiang Mufeng suddenly added, "I’ve heard that this year’s preliminary process is supposedly different. Master Qing is managing it personally, so we should probably expect a few surprises."
