After walking for a while, Kaiser finally arrived at the Adventurer Guild.
The building was much larger than he had expected. Several adventurers were entering and leaving, while others were sitting inside and talking among themselves.
As Kaiser stepped inside, he immediately spread out his senses.
’There are quite a few powerful people here.’
He could sense several Rank 2 and Rank 3 adventurers throughout the guild.
’But wait.’
Kaiser noticed that many of them were looking in his direction.
He didn’t pay much attention to them.
Instead, he continued walking toward the reception counter.
He could sense the aura of a Peak Rank 1 around the receptionist, which was already much stronger than most ordinary people.
’There are a lot of powerful people here.’
’Is this normal for this city?’
Kaiser reached the counter and stopped in front of the receptionist.
The woman looked at him.
"What do you want, kid?"
"I would like to register as an adventurer."
The receptionist raised an eyebrow.
"Register as an adventurer?"
She looked at him for a moment before asking,
"Do you even know what kind of city this is?"
Kaiser looked at her calmly.
"Winter Hold City is a fortress city built to protect the kingdom from invasions from the northern frontier. Because of its location, this place experiences frequent battles with monsters and enemy forces."
The receptionist was slightly surprised that he already knew about the city.
She nodded.
"That’s right."
She leaned back in her chair.
"Because this city is constantly dealing with threats from the northern territories, every adventurer who registers here is required to remain here for one year and help defend the city."
Kaiser nodded.
"So that’s why there are so many strong adventurers here."
"Exactly."
The receptionist looked at him again.
"So, knowing all that, do you still want to register?"
Kaiser thought for a moment.
’If this city experiences frequent battles, there should be plenty of opportunities to fight powerful monsters.’
’That means I can level up much faster here.’
He nodded.
"Yes. I still want to register."
The receptionist sighed before taking out a registration form.
"Fine. Then let’s get started."
She placed the form on the counter.
"First, I’ll need your name and basic information."
Kaiser looked at the form and began filling it out.
He had already decided that staying in Winter Hold City for a while would be useful.
Not only could he gather information about the surrounding territories, but the constant battles would also provide him with plenty of opportunities to increase his level.
For Kaiser, it seemed like a good place to begin his next stage of growth.
Kaiser filled out the registration form and handed it back to the receptionist.
She checked the information before entering it into the guild’s records.
"All right. Your registration is complete."
She took out an Adventurer Guild card and placed it on the counter.
"This is your adventurer card. You are currently registered as an F-Rank adventurer, which is the lowest rank."
Kaiser picked up the card and looked at it.
The receptionist continued explaining the system.
"F-Rank quests are mostly simple jobs. Gathering herbs, delivering items, dealing with weak monsters, and helping with small tasks around the city."
She then pointed toward the quest board.
"If you want to increase your adventurer rank, you’ll need to complete quests and earn enough contribution."
Kaiser nodded.
"What kind of quests are available?"
The receptionist glanced at the board.
"There are several F-Rank quests available right now."
She pointed toward one of the notices.
"One of the more common quests is goblin extermination."
"Goblins?"
"Yes. There are goblin groups living in the mountains outside the city. They occasionally come down and attack travelers or steal supplies."
She continued explaining.
"The guild uses these quests to control their population. You simply need to hunt the goblins and bring back their ears as proof."
Kaiser nodded.
"How many do I need?"
"It depends on the quest. The more goblins you eliminate, the more contribution you receive."
Kaiser looked at the quest board for a moment.
’Simple enough.’
He wasn’t interested in wasting time on gathering herbs or delivering packages.
If he was going to stay in Winter Hold City, he might as well use the opportunity to fight monsters.
Kaiser looked over the available quests and noticed several C-Rank and D-Rank quests.
’Those would be more useful.’
However, he couldn’t accept them yet.
As an F-Rank adventurer, he could only accept quests within his current rank and a limited range above it.
He would need to increase his adventurer rank before he could access the more valuable quests.
Kaiser took his adventurer card and put it away.
"I’ll take a look at the quests later."
The receptionist nodded.
"That’s fine."
Kaiser turned around and walked away from the counter.
He didn’t plan on staying in the city for long.
His goal was simple. Complete enough quests, gain contribution, increase his adventurer rank, and gain access to better information and higher-ranked quests.
Since Winter Hold City was surrounded by dangerous territory, there should be plenty of opportunities to do exactly that.
Kaiser left the Adventurer Guild and walked directly toward the city gates.
He didn’t waste any time.
The mountains where the goblins were said to live were located outside the city, and he intended to investigate them himself.
As Kaiser approached the city entrance, he looked back for a moment.
The enormous walls of Winter Hold City stretched across the horizon. The walls were tall and heavily reinforced, with numerous towers positioned along them.
Beyond the walls, the city itself was large and busy, filled with buildings, roads, shops, and thousands of people.
Kaiser looked at the sight for a moment.
’This city is quite large.’
’And with so many adventurers and soldiers stationed here, it makes sense that the guild would have plenty of monster-related quests.’
He then turned his attention toward the mountains in the distance.
The sight reminded him of the trial he had gone through before.
Back then, he had reverse Siege the Monster Tide coming on his way.
And completed the Trial easily.
