[Hours Ago]

"I have intel, but it’s not cheap."

Ashley sat in the corner of the plane, the seats in her row empty as Lucian had gone to the other cabin for a moment.

She narrowed her eyes at the message before typing a reply.

"How much?"

Ever since boarding the plane, a nagging feeling had been knocking at the back of her mind. Since she couldn’t just sit around and sleep during the flight, she pulled out a compact laptop she had borrowed from Gin and tried to figure out what was bothering her.

Now, Ashley had finally found someone with intel.

She waited for the reply, watching the three dots at the bottom of their chat as the other person typed.

"Not how much. But what?"

Her right eyebrow arched as she understood the meaning behind the reply.

These people accepted all sorts of jobs for the right price. But the right price didn’t necessarily mean money.

"What do you want?" she replied, willing to fulfill his request as long as it was something she could—and would—do.

She waited for a response, but nothing.

"Damn it," she hissed, running her hands down her face.

For a moment, she buried her face in her palms. After a few seconds, she spread her fingers and peeked through them.

"What would he want?" she whispered, glancing at the screen.

Just then, Lucian entered the cabin. By the time he reached her row, Ashley was already crawling out into the aisle.

"What is it?" Lucian asked.

"Someone’s got intel," she said.

He nodded in understanding. "How much?"

Lucian could provide whatever amount was needed, even while they were flying.

"He said, ’Not how much, but what?’" she repeated, causing Lucian’s brows to furrow.

Of course, he knew exactly what that meant.

The person she was dealing with didn’t think money was the right price for the information he had.

"Did he tell you what he wants?"

Ashley shook her head. "No. But I’ve got an idea."

His brows rose curiously as he watched the corners of her mouth curl upward.

"I’ll be back."

She headed toward the other cabin where the guys were.

"Rum," she called.

Rum immediately perked up.

She tipped her head toward the door. "I need to discuss something with you."

Confused, Rum still got up and followed her.

As for Red, Khan, and the others in the cabin, they exchanged clueless looks.

"What does she need from him?" Nelek wondered aloud.

"Beats me," Vodka replied.

"I don’t feel good about this," Khan whispered.

Rus nodded solemnly. "Rum and her? Uh... yep. I don’t feel good about this either."

Red narrowed his eyes.

"What is she planning now?"

*****

"What is it, Boss?" Rum asked, confused about what Ashley wanted from him.

If this were about the operation, she would be talking to Red and Khan. So, he quickly assumed it had to be something else.

Ashley scanned him briefly.

"Rum, I need you to put on a good show for me."

"Huh?" His face twisted in confusion. "What does that mean?"

"You’ll know." She patted his shoulder. "Also, once we land, I want you to deliver some things to a certain location."

Rum blinked, watching Ashley walk away without giving him any further explanation.

When she returned to the other cabin, Lucian was still propped against the armrest of the seat across from hers, his legs sprawled across the aisle.

"What is it?" he asked as soon as she reached him.

The corners of her mouth stretched into a wide smile.

"Money and entertainment."

"I thought they weren’t asking for money."

"Who doesn’t want money and free entertainment?" She smirked. "Baby, this city is full of skilled mercenaries, assassins, hitmen, and all sorts of criminals. They’re just as twisted as me."

"You’re not twisted," Lucian frowned, only to earn a playful response.

"Just as twisted as you too, then."

Now, the entertainment?

*****

"Yoohoo!"

Rum whistled happily as he drove a truck barreling in from the other side of the road.

He rammed through the railings and crashed into several cars. With how massive his truck was, he shoved the other vehicles aside, sending some spinning into others.

At the same time, Rum jerked the steering wheel, spinning the truck around and joining the chase.

With adrenaline pumping through his veins, his excitement peaked.

"Two... three down!" he announced with a grin.

His eyes flicked toward the corner of the windshield, where a tiny camera had been attached.

No one would notice it unless they knew it was there.

And Rum knew.

After all, he had been the one to plant the cameras in this truck and the other vehicles they were using.

"Rock and roll!" He flashed a hand sign at the camera, only to nearly lose control of the steering wheel. "Oh, shit—!"

His eyes widened as he hurriedly grabbed the wheel with both hands.

Meanwhile, across the city, similar scenes were unfolding.

Bars, clubs, restaurants, and even private homes were packed with people drinking as though they were attending some grand gathering. Their attention was fixed on the large screens in front of them.

And what was everyone watching?

The chaos unfolding in their city.

More specifically, the chase.

"My money’s on him!"

At a crowded rooftop bar, one of the men raised his beer and pointed at the screen where Rum’s camera feed was playing.

"Haha! He’s nuts. I like him." Another man immediately backed him up before looking for the person handling the bets.

And that was the money Ashley had meant.

The right price—or rather, the trade—she had offered in exchange for the intel was a live broadcast of the chaos.

Something the people of this city could bet on... or charge others to watch. Perhaps both. Either way, Ashley got the intel she wanted.

And now, the entire city was happily watching the chaos unfold as though it were a sporting event.

"I like this guy better," another man said, pointing at a different camera feed.

"Nah, that guy’s too slow. I’m betting on our guys. They were hired for this."

Even though some of them personally knew the mercenaries hired by the Di Carpios, they showed little concern.

Not because they were heartless.

It was simply one of the rules of their city.

The moment someone signed a contract, they had already put their life on the line. Whether they came back dead or alive was no one else’s business.

It was a golden rule that prevented grudges and revenge from spiraling out of control.

And perhaps that was why, despite being filled with criminals, mercenaries, assassins, and killers, their city continued to thrive.

"My money’s on her. The motorcycle girl." Someone pointed at another feed. "Where is she going?"

Another man leaned forward, watching the motorcycle race straight toward a ramp.

The chase was happening on the opposite lane.

Those who had been watching from the beginning knew the motorcycle hadn’t been among the first vehicles to join the pursuit. In fact, she had been a little late.

But after taking several shortcuts, she had caught up.

"Don’t tell me she’s planning to—"

Then, the motorcycle accelerated.

"She’s gonna do it."

"Oh, boy." Another man laughed as he raised his beer bottle to his lips. "This is going to be good."

Across the city, everyone watching found themselves drawn to the motorcycle.

Some held their breath as they watched the rider twist the throttle, speeding straight toward the ramp.

Others unknowingly let their jaws drop as the motorcycle launched into the air.

"She’s gonna crash," someone blurted out. "She’s going to crash—"

Everyone gasped as the motorcycle slammed onto the roof of a moving vehicle.

For a split second, it looked as though she might lose control.

But she didn’t.

The motorcycle shot off the vehicle and landed back on the road, taking the spot between Scott and Lucian.

The moment she regained control and sped forward... everyone watching from behind their screens roared.
