’This is complete madness... You literally saw how Rose turned that muscular man into a brainless puppet... How can you even consider this, Vivienne?!’ Vivienne screamed at herself in her own head, fighting the desperate urge to tear her hair out in frustration.
’She isn’t offering to save her. She’s just offering a different kind of slavery! Isn’t death a thousand times better than turning into a mindless thrall?’ she argued silently.
Yet, as she turned her eyes back toward the student through the windshield, her resolve wavered instantly.
The girl’s skin was a pale, wrinkled grey, but her dyed bright-blue hair was still unmistakable. She had halted just a foot away from Rose, standing completely still.
In fact, every single zombie in the street had locked up like statues the moment Rose walked out, entirely paralyzed under her silent command.
Rose didn’t seem to care about the monsters at all. She casually leaned back against the hood of the Camry, stretching her arms high into the air and arching her slim waist with fluid grace.
Through the clear windshield, her figure was on full display. The tight red fabric clung tightly to her curves, and the perfect shape of her hips and backside pressed right against the warm metal of the hood.
In the backseat, Fredrinn felt the heat rush straight down his body. He swallowed hard, his throat going dry at the blatant, deliberate show of seduction.
"Aadav..." Fredrinn said softly, his voice low but carrying a clear edge as a strained smile touched his lips. "Do me a favor and look behind, please?"
Aadav’s face went completely pale. He immediately whipped his head around to stare strictly at the passenger-side door panel, silently cursing the pair with every vulgar word he knew.
’Why are these two absolute freaks so shameless?!’ Aadav cried internally, feeling his blood pressure spike. ’Do they seriously need to put on a softcore performance in the middle of a zombie-infested street?!’
He couldn’t even imagine what these two degenerates would do once they got their hands on a full-sized bus with actual tinted windows. Would they just convert the entire back row into a sex dungeon?
Despite his raging thoughts, Aadav made damn sure to keep his eyes glued to the plastic door handle. His primal urges were begging him to sneak a peek, but he knew better.
Both Fredrinn and Rose could rip his head off his shoulders before he could even blink. Above all else, he valued his life.
Beside Fredrinn, Jenny scowled, unable to hide the bitter jealousy burning in her chest.
She took immense pride in her own looks, but she wasn’t shameless enough to pose like a pin-up model on the hood of a car in broad daylight.
Vivienne, meanwhile, was entirely lost in her own moral dilemma.
’Rose said that after some time and a few evolutions, Selene could regain her intelligence. But can I genuinely trust the word of a literal demon? What if she’s just manipulating me into agreeing... Wait, that makes no sense. She’s strong enough to do whatever she wants without my permission anyway. What would she even gain by tricking me?’ Vivienne rubbed her temples. ’Am I just overthinking this whole thing?’
She turned around in her seat to look back at Fredrinn, noticing his eyelids twitching as his eyes remained locked onto Rose’s provocative posture on the hood.
The demon girl knew exactly what she was doing. She was deliberately winding him up at the worst possible time.
At this rate, Fredrinn was starting to regret granting her that intelligence boost—the old, naive Rose would have never played these kinds of wicked psychological games with him!
"Fredrinn?" Vivienne cleared her throat, noticing he was thoroughly distracted.
Fredrinn gave a small cough, forcefully tearing his eyes away from the windshield to meet the teacher’s gaze.
"Yes, Vivienne?"
"What do you think?"
"Uhh..." Fredrinn blinked, his brain taking a second to reboot as he looked at her stunning, expressive face. "You look beautiful?"
Vivienne’s cheeks flushed a bright pink. She groaned in frustration, shaking her head. "Not that! I’m asking what you think about what we should do with Selene..."
Fredrinn chuckled softly, leaning back against the seat cushions. "Selene? Who’s that?"
Vivienne barely stopped herself from facepalming right then and there. She lifted her hand and pointed through the glass at the blue-haired girl standing motionlessly in front of Rose.
The girl was dressed in an Oxford High uniform—a crisp white button-down and a pleated light-blue skirt that matched her vibrant hair.
"Oh," Fredrinn said, finally snapping out of the lingering daze Rose had put him in.
He looked Vivienne straight in the eyes, his easygoing smirk fading into something far more grounded and serious.
"What do you want me to tell you, Vivienne?" he asked calmly. "You already know Rose is my partner, and let’s be completely honest here—she has zero reason to lie to you.
But you have to remember that she’s also a demon. Even if Selene’s time serving under her is temporary, it won’t be easy, and it definitely won’t fit into your human idea of ethics.
So... the choice is entirely yours. You can stick to your morals and let her die peacefully, or you can choose to keep her alive in whatever way possible."
Vivienne’s face fell. A bitter, heavy knot formed in the pit of her stomach.
She had already reasoned through all of those brutal points in her head, but hearing them laid out so plainly by Fredrinn left a sour taste in her mouth.
Deep down, she had hoped he would give her an easy way out—that he would promise Rose would be gentle, that Selene wouldn’t suffer, and that everything would magically go back to normal.
Yet, a small part of her felt genuinely grateful for his honesty. He hadn’t tried to sugarcoat the horror or feed her comforting lies just to make her feel better.
He gave her the raw, unfiltered truth and put the weight of the decision squarely on her shoulders.
Vivienne looked out through the glass one last time, staring at the motionless, grey-skinned student who had once raised her hand with so much enthusiasm in class.
She took a slow, trembling breath, her fingers tightening into fists on her lap.
"I think..."
