My Skills Can Evolve Infinitely in a Game-Like World
Chapter 122: Class RitualTheoryMaster69 had imagined many different scenarios about how the advancement would ensue.
In some, a white light would suddenly burst from the shop and engulf her, completing the advancement process.
In others, the advancement would happen silently.
One moment, she would be an ordinary person. The next, she would have become an Awakener.
Besides these, she had come up with several other possibilities.
But to her dismay, none of them actually matched reality.
Even after her EXP was completely drained and the Sun Knight Class faded away from the shop, meaning she could no longer purchase it, nothing changed.
For a moment, TheoryMaster69 felt as though she had been scammed.
She had never expected that there would come a day when she would be tricked as well. By an NPC, no less!
Recalling how hard she had worked to obtain this EXP, struggling for several days while being afraid to spend even a single point of it, she almost burst into tears.
The way she stared at Aurelius shifted.
Like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, she looked ready to pounce on him and scratch his face off.
Aurelius noticed that reaction.
While chuckling inwardly and feeling that TheoryMaster69 was truly overestimating herself to dare to have such thoughts, he maintained a calm expression.
He knew that now was not the time to tease her. Otherwise, the scene he had spent so much effort creating would be wasted.
He nodded as though he failed to notice her thoughts.
Then, before TheoryMaster69 could act on her murderous intentions, he spoke.
"The Sun Knight Class is quite special."
"Ordinary Classes have no requirements save for the Class Ritual or Class Item. However, the Sun Knight Class has certain requirements for time too."
As he spoke, Aurelius raised his head.
He looked at the sun, which was rapidly setting, and estimated that it would completely disappear in less than half an hour.
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"You’re quite lucky. Had you come a few minutes later, you would have missed the chance to become an Awakener today. We could only wait for tomorrow."
"Thankfully, you came at just the right time."
TheoryMaster69 did not understand what he meant by those cryptic words.
Before she could ask any questions, however, Aurelius grabbed her hand and pulled her away in haste.
After letting out a slightly panicked yelp, TheoryMaster69 hurriedly followed him.
--
It didn’t take long.
As Aurelius had previously mentioned, there was a time limit for the Class Ritual to succeed.
Once the sun set, TheoryMaster69 would lose the opportunity to become an Awakener that day.
Although this carried no risks and she could always advance the next day like normal, Aurelius was unwilling to waste any time.
Fortunately, he had already made adequate preparations.
Within a couple of minutes, Aurelius and TheoryMaster69 were alone in a small mansion.
They currently stood in its small garden, with TheoryMaster69 looking around curiously while Aurelius gently touched the grass around her.
As he did, strands of golden power descended and wove together into complicated patterns.
The process took a couple of minutes.
Before TheoryMaster69 could fully understand what was happening, a giant formation was slowly taking shape with her as the center.
It depicted a golden starry sky. And in the middle—the place where she stood—was a giant sun.
"There are generally two types of Classes. Those that require a Class Ritual and those that require the consumption of a Class Item."
"The Sun Knight Class belongs to the former." Aurelius took the opportunity to explain some concepts to TheoryMaster69, seemingly without much thought.
The other party nodded and noted the information down.
"Sir Aurelius, can I ask what Skills and Talents the Sun Knight Class possesses?" she took the initiative to ask.
"I’ve heard that Rare Classes are quite rare. Are they really stronger than Common and Elite Classes?"
Given her identity as an ordinary person with supposedly no great background, it made sense that TheoryMaster69 would ask such questions.
Yet Aurelius knew she had another purpose in asking. Even so, he didn’t expose her lies.
He ignored the first part of her question and answered only the latter.
"The difference between Classes of different ranks is greater than you think. It might not be very noticeable at first, but it will become increasingly obvious as time passes."
Aurelius paused briefly before deciding to give her an example.
"An Awakener with a Common Class may be as strong as an Awakener with an Elite Class when they first become Awakeners. However, as they both advance and climb through the Levels, the gap between them will gradually widen."
"Before long, it will become so massive that the former will be helpless."
"It’s not only in terms of basic strength, but also in their abilities."
"The gap between Common and Elite is as such. That between Elite and Rare is even greater."
What Aurelius was implying was simple:
Higher-ranked Classes provided greater Base Stat enhancement and gave Players more skills and Talents!
TheoryMaster69 nodded to show that she understood. However, curiosity remained on her face.
She opened her mouth, intending to learn more about the game’s mechanics through Aurelius, but unfortunately, she didn’t get the chance.
Aurelius rose to his feet. He patted his hands and nodded with a smile.
"The formation is finally complete. Now, all that remains are the materials."
Saying that, Aurelius pretended to take items out of his pockets while secretly retrieving them from the System Inventory.
Immediately, several items materialized in his hands.
"This is Northern Star Grass, which can communicate with the stars in the northern sky..."
"This is the essence of a Rank 1 Sunflower monster. It can establish a connection with the sun..."
More and more items appeared, in many forms and belonging to many different categories.
Yet no matter what they were, they were all related to the sun, the stars, or the element of fire.
Following each introduction, Aurelius placed one of them in the circle surrounding TheoryMaster69.
When the final item was put down, he looked at her.
He didn’t give her any signal or reminder. Without any hesitation, he poured his Spirit into the formation below and activated it.
The items he had just taken out began to melt into a golden liquid, seeping into the lines and slowly gathering toward the sun.
TheoryMaster69 had little time to react. Under her stunned gaze, the sun beneath her feet began to light up.
Then...
Bang!
Its brilliance covered her entire vision.
The Ritual to become a Sun Knight had finally begun!
