The near-death experience appeared to have driven the Goblin Warlock into a frenzy.

The fear of death and anger from the offense of two "ants" clashed, allowing him to exert astonishing power.

Crimson patterns lit along its skin. A terrifying aura burst out of its body and spread in its surroundings.

The muscles all over his body clenched, producing loud popping sounds one after another.

His hand wrapped itself into a tight fist. Then, he punched straight at Selene with all his strength.

He showed no mercy or admiration for her beauty, aiming directly at her head.

Meanwhile, the shield made from corrupting liquid continued moving unabated toward Aurelius.

Clearly, Goblin Warlocks were neither an exclusive Mage-type nor a Brawler-type Class.

Instead, it integrated the advantages of both categories, allowing the Goblin to possess overwhelming strength.

Seeing the shield descend toward him like a meteor, Aurelius reacted quickly.

He raised the Sea God’s Trident, its three tips pointing toward the sky as he thrust it upwards.

A faint layer of ice formed around the weapon. The temperature plummeted back to a freezing point and declined even further.

Though it was the skill of a Rank 3 monster, the Sea God’s Trident was an Epic Relic–albeit a sealed one.

Even if it couldn’t contend with a Rank 3 Awakener, their mere blow was far from being capable of defeating it.

Under Aurelius’ command, the ice began to spread outward from the Trident. It traveled through the air, soon enveloping the entire murky shield.

The weapon’s momentum halted abruptly. Cracks spread all over its surface.

Then...

Bang!

An explosion rang out as it shattered into pieces. First the ice burst apart, followed by the shield itself.

Yet Aurelius was far from happy upon witnessing this scene.

He knew the Goblin Warlock’s target had never been him.

The shield was a mere distraction, tasked with occupying his attention. The opponent’s true goal had been something else from the very beginning.

Selene!

Aurelius turned his head in a hurry, ready to observe the battle and provide her with necessary support.

Yet the scene he was expecting to see didn’t happen.

Aurelius originally believed that Selene would have struggled to contend with the Goblin Warlock when engaged in close-quarters combat.

After all, the Moon Favored Class she had temporarily inherited seemed more like a Mage-type Class.

Yet reality shattered his expectations.

Selene was fighting evenly against the opponent.

Not only did she not fall behind in the slightest, but she displayed a terrifying side.

Silver light danced around her beautiful figure, weaving into crescent moons that accompanied each of her movements.

Facing the Goblin Warlock’s punches, she also struck back in the same way.

Boom!

The two fists collided, with neither of their owners obtaining an advantage over the other.

As such, they continued.

Another punch. A kick. An elbow slam.

What was originally a battle between Awakeners seemed to have turned into a street fight, with thugs fighting against each other using every means at their disposal.

...Or at least, that was how it seemed to the untrained eye.

In reality, things were different.

From Aurelius’ point of view, each of their strikes possessed an earth-shattering power, strong enough to break the bones of an ordinary person in their mere aftermath alone.

The consequences were as expected.

The ground beneath them ended up in a ruined state, with several pits and craters stretching across the earth, like scars engraved on the surface of Nova Roma.

Even Aurelius was stunned.

He knew that despite his outstanding Base Stats, he would be unable to contend against either of the two in a battle of physical strength.

’Is the fundamental gap between Ranks so great?’

He couldn’t help but mutter inwardly, once again recognizing the need to improve one’s Level and thus their fundamental strength.

Although Aurelius was feeling emotional, he didn’t forget what his current situation was.

Standing dozens of feet away from the two freaks’ battle, he urged his Spirit and cast skill after skill.

Water Arrows. Fireball. Solar Manifestation.

Every skill he had in his arsenal was used expertly, preventing the Goblin Warlock from fully focusing on Selene.

The outcome was obvious.

Although she should have been weaker, Selene gradually gained the advantage in their confrontation.

"Aaaah!"

A mournful cry soon echoed throughout the devastated plain.

Selene’s hand clasped around the goblin’s shoulders and tore its right arm off.

The bones supporting it were broken, while the flesh itself was ripped apart.

Blood and flesh scattered in every direction, staining the plain crimson.

The goblin’s aura violently fluctuated, proving it had been seriously injured.

Yet Aurelius had no time to celebrate.

He knew their victory was only temporary.

The two floating interfaces further confirmed that notion.

[Selene Novaltis Level 40 Moon Favored (Temporary)]

[Level 43 Goblin Warlock (Frenzied State)]

Selene’s strength had decreased, having unknowingly fallen below Rank 3.

On the contrary, the wound only made the Goblin Warlock even more powerful.

More and more runes materialized on its skin. Its punches and kicks grew ever more brutal.

Bang!

It didn’t take long before the balance of the fight tilted.

Selene’s abdomen was struck heavily, sending her flying and causing a stream of blood to flow out of her mouth like an arrow.

Aurelius’ eyes narrowed.

He knew they had failed.

Though disappointing, it was fully expected.

Only a short time had passed since he obtained the Epic Relic.

He had no time to get familiar with the Sea God’s Trident.

He could only employ a tiny portion of its full power.

As such, he had ended up being more like a supporting role in the fight rather than being a true protagonist.

’It seems that it’s time to escape...’ Aurelius concluded.

Taking a step forward, he intended to grab Selene and flee.

But once again, his expression suddenly changed.

A loud voice echoed inside his mind.

"Now! Use the Trident to kill him." Selene’s exhausted voice sounded.

Before Aurelius could process her words, the moon above their heads brightened.

Out of nowhere, the Goblin Warlock froze in place.

Not metaphorically, but literally.

A layer of thick ice formed along his skin and, soon, he ended up encased in a prison of frost.

Perhaps it was a coincidence, but it ended up in the same spot as the Midgard Serpent Aurelius had previously killed.

Yet what was different from then was...
