My Skills Can Evolve Infinitely in a Game-Like World

Aurelius had accumulated a lot of skills during his journey.

Some of them he had obtained from his Classes or the Skill Books he had collected, while some had been copied using Arcane Insight in the past.

The former were more powerful, while the latter were weaker but far greater in number.

This was something Aurelius had long realized.

However, seeing it in the Player Panel was one thing. Seeing it in the form of lights was completely different.

Aurelius’ eyes widened as he stared at the dozens of colors floating before him.

He had the illusion that he was staring at a starry sky, unable to take in all their beauty with a single glance.

The skills were simply too many.

Combined with their unique aura and mysterious nature, they were enough to attract the attention of anyone.

Even Aurelius felt briefly lost in this sight, immersed in their beauty for several moments.

But soon, he snapped out of it.

He knew he had no time to waste.

Three minutes. This was the time he had given himself.

Once three minutes passed and he had yet to produce something that could save the current situation, he would grab Selene and flee away from this place.

His eyes narrowed. A frown appeared on his face.

Since it was an impulsive move and he had not thought of doing so beforehand, he had yet to decide which skills he was planning to synthesize.

’Something powerful...’ he muttered inwardly.

’... but at the same time, the skills used as material need to possess a certain synergy.’ He paused.

’Most importantly, they need to possess attacking power.’

Powerful. Offensive. Possessing synergy.

These seemingly simple conditions had already ruled out the vast majority of his skills.

Only a few remained, such as Solar Manifestation and Fireball, or Plant Control and Tree Grow.

But Aurelius quickly skimmed over both of these sets of skills, as well as several others.

The skills Aurelius had comprehended during the Sea God’s Trident’s demonstration.

They were all individually powerful. Water Arrow had played a great role in the fight against the Goblin Warlock and was a major reason they had managed to gain the upper hand.

In such a short period of time, Aurelius had already thought of many ways to integrate them into his own combat methods, elevating his combat prowess to the next level.

But now, he was planning to let these three skills go.

All for the sake of a gamble.

If it failed, he would lose them forever.

If it succeeded, however...

Aurelius glanced at Selene lying only a few feet away. Although her figure was now blurry due to Synthesis being used, he could still see the paleness on her face and the concern she displayed upon noticing that he did not respond to her calls.

Upon seeing this, Aurelius no longer hesitated.

His mind moved.

Suddenly, all the lights in his field of vision shattered before quickly fading away.

More precisely, all lights but three.

Water Arrow. Ice Defense. Azure Mirage.

Under his guidance, these three skills started to grow closer, until their forms finally overlapped one another.

For a split second, they seemed to have disappeared, transforming into a single blue light.

Then...

Bang!

An explosion sounded in Aurelius’ mind.

It sounded like the Big Bang, tracing back to the start of the universe.

Although he had used Synthesis several times in the past, Aurelius had never experienced anything like this before.

He had a hunch that things were bound to be different.

Whether it was because all three skills came from the Sea God’s Trident, because their synergy was too strong, or because they were simply too powerful, Aurelius didn’t know, nor was there a way to find the answer.

All he could do was wait. Wait for the process to be completed.

Perhaps then he would know the reason.

The seconds seemed to have turned into minutes and those into hours.

The expression on Selene’s face became increasingly concerned, while the ice prison sealing the Goblin Warlock gradually melted down, a liquid droplet hitting the ground with each passing second.

Selene’s previous guess had been wrong. It wouldn’t take five minutes like she initially predicted.

At most three before the Goblin Warlock would break out.

Unfortunately, despite realizing this, there was nothing she could do in her current state and with Aurelius refusing to answer her calls.

Time slowly passed.

One minute. Two minutes. Three...

A look of despair slowly settled on Selene’s face as she watched the ice melt away. Before long, only a block of ice remained around the Goblin Warlock’s head, a layer of a few inches.

Yet just as Selene felt that this last part would also break and the monster would be unsealed, Aurelius suddenly opened his eyes.

An extraordinary brilliance flashed across his pupils. Their azure color seemed to have deepened even further.

The temperature around him suddenly plummeted, while a look of indifference appeared on his face.

In the past, Aurelius had been warm, both literally and figuratively. Partly due to his own personality and partly due to the skills he had learned.

Now, his demeanor had taken a turn in the opposite direction.

For a moment, he very much resembled Selene during their first meetings, when she was still aloof and cold.

The female Assassin had no chance to process those changes, however.

Shortly afterward, Aurelius spoke up.

"I see..." he whispered under his breath, a profound look crossing his face as he turned toward the Goblin Warlock.

"This is... an unexpected outcome."
