Chapter 206: Chapter 206: Blackwatch
Finally, Jaxon turned toward Thomas and handed him the M249 SAW. "This one is a little different. Its exclusive skill lets you turn it into a heavy mounted weapon. Once activated, it can’t be moved, but its stability, range, and penetration become much stronger."
Thomas examined the M249 with growing interest. "So I can basically turn it into a defensive gun position?"
"Pretty much. And it increases Strength."
A grin slowly spread across Thomas’s face as he held the weapon firmly. "Then I’ll definitely put it to good use."
"Try it out before we leave," Jaxon said. "Get used to it first. We don’t know what we’ll encounter once we’re back on the road."
Thomas nodded confidently. "Don’t worry. I’ll make sure I know how to use it."
Jaxon looked around at everyone.
"Also, remember that different weapons have different effects. If you want to become more well-rounded, you can switch weapons between yourselves from time to time."
Haris nodded. "That makes sense."
"Yeah," Claire agreed. "We can take turns depending on what we need."
The others nodded as well.
Jaxon smiled. "Good. Then make sure you take care of those weapons. They’re going to be important for all of us from now on."
"Forgot to ask, but Jaxon, what should we name our group?" Natasha asked.
Jaxon paused, thinking for a moment. "I haven’t really thought about it. How about Blackwatch?"
"Blackwatch..." Na-rin repeated, considering it before giving a small nod. "I like it."
"Then let’s go with that."
"Blackwatch, huh?" Bong-gu grinned. "Sounds pretty cool."
Elena looked around the room. "So, what do we do now?"
"For now, our main goal is simply to survive until we reach somewhere safe," Jaxon answered. "We originally planned to establish a base near the Mongoloid Safe Zone, but that’s obviously not happening anymore."
His expression became more serious.
"So while we’re heading toward Asterra Safe Zone, I want us to start looking for a place where we can eventually build our own base. Somewhere we can gather even if we’re outside a safe zone, and somewhere we can retreat to if another safe zone falls."
"A base..." Bong-gu’s eyes immediately lit up. "An underground bunker would be good!"
Na-rin gave him a flat look. "Did you forget that the infected can move underground too?"
Bong-gu’s excitement disappeared almost instantly. "Ah... right."
"Still, it isn’t a bad idea," Jaxon said with a small smile. "The important thing is finding the right location. We need somewhere that’s easy to defend, preferably with access to water, supplies, and enough space for everyone."
"Leave the scouting to me, Brother," Cindy said. "I’ll keep using the drones while we’re traveling. Maybe we’ll find somewhere suitable."
"I’ll help her," Claire added. "We should also make a list of what we actually need before choosing a location."
Jaxon nodded. "You two can work on that with Natasha."
He paused before adding, "And I forgot to mention this earlier. Natasha will be our Vice-Leader, and Na-rin will be her Deputy."
Claire and Cindy both nodded.
"We’ll start working on it later," Natasha said.
Elena raised a hand slightly. "What about the weapons? I know we’re keeping your abilities secret, but people are going to notice if our weapons are much stronger than normal."
"Then we’ll tell them they’re special weapons from one of the military’s special units," Natasha suggested. "There’s no need to explain anything beyond that."
She looked around the room. "More importantly, what we’ve discussed here stays within this group. We don’t tell anyone else unless we all agree."
Everyone nodded seriously.
Thomas crossed his arms. "What about recruiting new members? How do we decide who gets in?"
"If it’s someone we trust, then we’ll consider them," Natasha answered. "We don’t need a large group just for the sake of having numbers."
"And recruiting right now isn’t even practical." Na-rin added. "We don’t have a base, and we’re still trying to survive ourselves. We should focus on getting stronger first."
Jaxon nodded in agreement. "For now, we’ll stick to the original plan. We’ll travel toward Asterra and stay near the evacuation convoy when necessary. Along the way, we’ll collect vehicles, weapons, food, and anything else that could be useful. I have more than enough space in my Storage Space. We might as well fill it."
Bong-gu immediately stood and gave him a military salute. "Understood, Leader!"
"Jaxon is fine. Just call me like you normally do."
"Right, right."
Cindy suddenly puffed out her cheeks. "Wow, Brother. You’re a leader now, and Natasha is the Vice-Leader. What about me?"
Jaxon chuckled. "You’re a core member"
"Alright," Isabel said as she stood up. "Enough serious talk. Everyone’s probably hungry again."
Bong-gu’s hand shot into the air. "Finally! Someone said it!"
The serious meeting quickly turned into another warm meal.
Isabel, Elaine, Hannah, and Hae-in headed into the kitchen together while the others gathered around the table as they ate, talked, and enjoyed the rare moment of peace.

At the balcony, Jaxon stood with a pair of binoculars in his hands, watching the convoy in the distance. The soldiers remained on alert around the vehicles while the civilians stayed inside the defensive barricade, looking lost and exhausted after everything they had just been through.
He lowered the binoculars when he heard footsteps approaching from behind.
"Jaxon."
He turned and found Elaine walking toward him. The blonde teacher gave him a small smile before stopping beside him.
"Hey."
"What are you doing out here?" she asked.
"Just checking on the convoy." Jaxon raised the binoculars again and took another quick look before lowering them. "What about you? You should be resting."
"I wanted to talk to you." Elaine hesitated for a moment before tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "Alone."
"Is something wrong?"
"No, nothing like that." She shook her head. "A lot has happened lately, and I realized I never really got the chance to talk to you properly."
She looked toward him and smiled faintly. "I also never properly thanked you for upgrading my weapon."
"You’re welcome."
"Meeting you back at the school was probably the greatest luck we could have asked for." Elaine’s voice softened. "Since then, you’ve been looking after all of us and putting yourself in danger to keep us alive. I should at least thank you properly."
Jaxon gave her a small smile. "You don’t have to thank me that much. I’m just glad I met you too."
For a moment, neither of them said anything.
Elaine slowly leaned her head against his shoulder.
Jaxon glanced down at her but didn’t move away.
"I’m glad you finally let me come with you," she said quietly. "Before, I could only watch you fight while we stayed behind. But now, I want to fight alongside you."
"I’m counting on you."
Elaine smiled against his shoulder. "I’ll do my best."
