Yet Nova was displaying an astonishing level of control over it despite being only a low-level King Realm expert.

Nova immediately activated his new S+ Rank active skill, Death Gaze.

Suddenly, Nova’s eyes turned completely black, as deep and endless as the void itself. The moment the beasts looked at him, they felt as though they were being stared at by Death himself.

Nova’s soul strength was astonishingly powerful, making his Death Gaze even more terrifying. Under the pressure of his gaze, all the remaining beasts began trembling uncontrollably in fear.

Even from a distance, Velena could sense that something had suddenly changed in his aura. Seeing the beasts trembling in terror, she immediately realized that Nova must have activated another one of his strange abilities.

He really did possess an astonishing number of powerful skills. Wherever Nyxara had found him, she was truly lucky to have someone like him by her side.

Velena had also begun to notice that Nyxara was starting to develop feelings for Nova, which was rather surprising to her. Her princess had never really focused on matters like love or relationships before.

Still, Nova’s monstrous talent was beyond anything she had expected.

He was already capable of fighting hundreds of peak-level King Realm beasts while being only a low-level King Realm expert.

Velena couldn’t even imagine what kind of monster he would become after breaking through to the Emperor Realm—or even the Sovereign Realm.

Regardless, Velena silently decided that she would make sure her princess received all the happiness she deserved, no matter what she had to do.

That little girl had truly found herself an amazing monster.

What Velena didn’t know was that Nova still hadn’t revealed his true demonic aura. If she had sensed the aura that was already comparable to that of a Demon Lord, she would have been completely overwhelmed by the shock.

Just as Nova was about to launch his second new S+ Rank skill, he was suddenly interrupted by a deafening shriek.

"SKREEEEEEEEE!"

The sound was accompanied by an overwhelming Emperor Realm pressure that erupted through the forest.

BOOM!

The terrifying pressure blasted Nova backward, instantly disrupting both Voidborne Telekinesis and Death Gaze.

Nova crashed heavily into the ground, his body tearing through several trees before finally coming to a stop.

Yet before the damage could even matter, the wounds across his body rapidly regenerated and vanished almost instantly, thanks to his Demonic Regeneration.

Velena immediately landed beside him and looked toward the sky. "Looks like the leader of the horde is here. And it’s a Level 1 Emperor Realm beast."

She glanced at Nova before continuing seriously, "I would advise you not to engage it in battle. The difference between the peak King Realm and Level 1 Emperor Realm is extremely vast."

Nova ignored the warning and looked upward.

A colossal bird hovered above the forest, roughly three times larger than the beasts he had been fighting moments ago. Its body was covered in crimson-red feathers, while massive, blade-like feathers extended from its wings and tail.

Its blazing eyes radiated an overwhelming sense of majesty and killing intent.

"SKREEEEEEEEE!"

Nova immediately activated his Appraisal skill and focused his gaze on the beast, checking its stats.

Abyssal Skyreaver

Nova stared at its stats in shock.

He really was no match for the Abyssal Skyreaver in his current state. If he used his Dragon Transformation—or, better yet, his second-stage Dragon Transformation—he could fight against it.

But using such a transformation here could create a serious problem.

Nova still believed that even in his Demon Transformation, he could fight the beast if he went all out. However, he didn’t want to take that risk.

Fighting the Skyreaver with everything he had would force him to reveal some of his other secrets, and he still couldn’t expose them to Velena or Nyxara.

He didn’t trust them enough yet.

While Nova was lost in thought, the colossal bird suddenly spread its massive wings and unleashed a storm of enormous, razor-sharp feathers.

Each feather was coated in thick Abyssal flames, turning them into terrifying projectiles that tore through the air toward Nova.

Although the flames weren’t nearly as powerful as the Abyssal flames of the Abyssal Tyradrake that Nyxara had fought, they were still powerful enough to pose a serious threat to Nova.

However, before the attack could reach him, Velena casually raised her hand.

BOOM!

An overwhelming pressure erupted from her body and swept across the battlefield.

The massive pressure instantly sent the Abyssal Skyreaver and the surrounding demonic beasts flying backward with tremendous force.

She had dealt with them so casually that it looked as though she were simply playing with children.

Velena then looked toward Nova, who was still sitting on the ground and staring at her with wide eyes.

She hadn’t considered these beasts a threat at all. That was the terrifying difference between a Level 1 Emperor and a Level 3 Emperor.

Velena looked at Nova and said, "Lord Nova, we should go now. The princess should be back by now. Or do you still want to hunt more?"

Nova immediately shook his head.

"No, that’s enough. Although we couldn’t have our spar... perhaps I’d like to do it after I’ve grown a little stronger."

He paused before adding with a wry smile, "Otherwise, it would be a very shameful defeat." Velena shook her head cutely after hearing his words and said.

"Don’t say that, Lord Nova. You’re already an anomaly. I can’t even imagine how much your strength will grow once you reach Level 1 Emperor."

Nova couldn’t deny her words, as they were indeed true.

Then again, after killing so many demonic beasts here, especially those at the peak King Realm, his level had increased by more than 500.

Since Nova was still at the low-level King Realm, defeating opponents at the peak King Realm granted him a substantial amount of Experience Points.

Even though his actual strength was far superior to what his realm suggested, the system still recognized the significant difference between his level and that of his opponents, rewarding him with a considerable amount of Experience Points.

It had been quite some time since Nova had checked his status, so he decided to open his system panel and see how much he had gained from the battle.

Nova was surprised to see that his level had increased by nearly 700 levels, and his stats had also grown considerably. It was truly a massive boost to his overall strength.

{Well, they were peak-level King Realm demonic beasts, after all. Remember, not long ago, you couldn’t even fight a mid-level King Realm expert in battle. So, you can imagine just how much strength you have gained after breaking through to the King Realm.}

Liya’s voice echoed in his mind as she continued.

{And the amount of Experience Points you receive is determined by the world’s natural laws. Since you killed so many beasts that were considerably higher in level than you, it was only natural for you to receive such a massive amount of Experience Points.}

Nova understood Liya’s words. Even though his actual strength was already comparable to that of a peak-level King Realm expert, the system still calculated his Experience Points based on his actual level.

In other words, as long as the opponents he defeated were considerably stronger than his current level, he would receive a substantial amount of Experience Points, regardless of how powerful he was compared to others within his own realm.

[A/N]

I explained Nova’s leveling and EXP system again in this Chapter. If anyone was still confused about how he levels up and gains EXP, this should clear things up.
