"Are you sure that’s called educating him?"

"Isn’t it?"

Jared Quinn lifted his foot, about to walk over to Timmy, when Melody Thorne immediately grabbed his sleeve. Her clear eyes were misty, like there was a little pearl of water rolling around inside, making anyone who saw it go soft.

She was clearly saying: you’re not allowed to go. If you do, I’ll cry and show you.

"If you keep doing this, you’re going to spoil him."

Melody Thorne stuck out her tongue. This whole thing had been her idea.

"I promise there won’t be a next time. I’ll definitely educate him properly."

Under the assault of her gaze, Jared Quinn decided to let that brat off the hook.

But Melody Thorne wasn’t so lucky. She had to sit by Jared Quinn’s side the whole time, helping him flip through documents.

The phone rang a few times. It was Nina King calling.

"Melody, I’m at the café downstairs from Quinn Corporation. Come down for a bit, there’s something I want to discuss with you."

"Okay." Melody Thorne hung up. "It’s Nina. I’m going out for a bit."

"Go ahead, just don’t be too long," Jared Quinn said.

"Got it."

"Timmy, your Aunt Nina is looking for us. Let’s go down and see her." Melody Thorne stood up and immediately summoned Timmy, who was still standing in the corner reflecting on his mistakes, to come with her.

"Mm-hmm." Timmy nodded like garlic pounding.

The two of them walked out of the office, backs disappearing through the door. Simon Sutton rubbed his chin. "Boss, have you noticed that Young Master is getting more and more popular in Madam’s eyes? Wherever she goes, she takes him with her."

Jared Quinn shot him a sideways look. If he hadn’t noticed, he’d have to be blind.

What made his chest feel tight was not knowing whether the memory-less Melody Thorne still loved him or not.

She hadn’t chased after him, running behind him, in a long time.

A few months ago she was still saying he’d hooked her very soul away, and a few months later she doesn’t even remember him as her husband.

"Boss, the wedding dress designer said they’ve already designed a new dress for Madam, and the castle where the wedding will be held has finished construction. Do you want to take Little Madam over to have another look?"

"No need. Let’s leave it for now." A thoughtful gleam flashed in Jared Quinn’s eyes. Before, it was Melody Thorne chasing him. Now maybe it’s time to flip it—he’ll chase her. That would be fair, and maybe also make up for what he owed her before?

"We’ll talk about it when she gets her memory back."

"Yes, sir."

Downstairs at the café.

Nina King handed her a lot of company materials. Worried that Melody wouldn’t read the info she sent by message, she simply printed everything out.

"Take these home and go through them. The recent roadshow for the movie promotion hasn’t been going well. The whole time it’s only been Howie showing up to promote. He’s somewhat well-known, but far from enough to get the desired effect. It’ll seriously impact the box office later. So I want you to get familiar with things quickly, so you can be of use in the final two weeks of promotion."

Melody Thorne looked through the materials. Some things felt familiar down to her bones—one glance and she could remember.

This was all her hard work from before. If she doesn’t finish it now, she’ll definitely regret it once her memory comes back.

"Okay, I’ll get on it as soon as I can." Melody Thorne closed the folder.

Jane Rowan, who had just left, came back again, swaggering as she stood in front of their café table. "You think that by helping Elias Hale like this, he’s going to be grateful to you? Let me tell you, The Hale Family never does business at a loss. It’s obvious he’s trying to get close to you. But I’m warning you, don’t get all starry-eyed. The one eyeing you might be a vicious wolf, not some harmless little lamb!"

"Whether he’s a wolf or a lamb, what’s it got to do with you?" Melody Thorne leaned back in her café chair, her gaze at Jane Rowan full of undisguised annoyance.
