My System Is a Fallen God: I Level Up Endlessly
Chapter 41: Weapon Upgrade, The First FragmentBefore he interacted with his system, Saile looked down at the Diamond-Tier warlords.
Mrog’s massive, heavily muscled body was trembling openly. Alis kept her badly burned face pressed against the broken stone. Lady Vesper slowly looked up, her glowing purple eyes entirely filled with pure worship.
"We are your absolute blades, Sovereign," Vesper whispered softly. "We swear total fealty to you. Our lives belong to the Fallen God."
"We swear it!" Mrog and Alis echoed loudly.
The veteran assassins standing near the heavy iron doors instantly repeated the sacred oath. Their deep voices rang clearly through the ruined chamber, sealing their absolute loyalty.
Saile accepted their submission with a cold, slow nod.
"Guard the main doors," Saile ordered flatly. "No one else enters this chamber. I need to prepare my body before we enter the vault."
The warlords scrambled to their feet immediately. They rushed to secure the heavy iron gates, treating his simple command like an absolute law.
Saile turned his attention entirely back to his golden system screens.
[Inventory: High-Tier Storage Ring, Skill Shard (17/5), Weapon Fragment (19/10),
Iron-Scaled Basilisk Core.]
Before he touched a highly volatile piece of a dead God, his physical vessel needed to be at its absolute peak condition. He had seventeen glowing Skill Shards looted from his fifty-win streak in the blood arena.
It was time to spend them.
"System," Saile whispered. "Upgrade Phantom Step, Divine Strike, and Shadow
Swap."
[Consume 15 Skill Shards to initiate physical and neural reinforcement? Y/N]
Saile mentally confirmed the selection.
Instantly, fifteen glowing blue shards shot out of his storage ring. They shattered violently in the air, turning into a thick cloud of pure magical dust.
The glowing dust slammed directly into Saile’s chest.
He dropped heavily to one knee, gritting his teeth against the sudden, blinding pain. His physical vessel was violently reconstructing itself.
His Platinum-Tier bones cracked loudly, growing incredibly dense. His muscle fibers snapped and re-stitched themselves together. They packed tighter and thicker to handle the higher-grade magic.
The Endless Devourer rapidly consumed the energy, permanently altering his combat physiology.
[Skill Upgrades Successful!]
[Phantom Step: Promoted to C-Grade.]
[Divine Strike: Promoted to B-Grade.]
[Shadow Swap: Promoted to B-Grade.]
Saile stood up slowly, rolling his shoulders. His body felt terrifyingly light, packed with explosive, kinetic power.
Now, he needed his weapon to match.
"System," Saile commanded. "Initiate Weapon Upgrade."
[Consume 10 Weapon Fragments and the Iron-Scaled Basilisk Core? Y/N]
He confirmed it.
His High-Tier Storage Ring burned with a searing heat. Ten jagged chunks of glowing metal shot completely out of the ring.
Right behind them, the glowing green monster core of the Iron-Scaled Basilisk floated out. It dripped with highly corrosive magic, hissing loudly in the quiet room.
Saile held the pitch-black Calamity Fang straight out in front of him.
The mythic odachi hummed aggressively, vibrating in his bare hands. The ten metal fragments and the heavy monster core instantly melted down. They formed a swirling cyclone of liquid silver and toxic green energy.
The magical liquid slammed directly into the center of the black blade.
A blinding flash of purple light illuminated the entire war chamber. The air warped wildly, radiating intense, blistering heat.
The phantom sound of hammering metal rang loudly in Saile’s mind. It sounded exactly like a giant violently striking an iron anvil.
Boom!
A sharp sonic wave blasted the remaining dust away from Saile’s boots. When the purple light faded, Saile looked down at his newly forged weapon.
[Weapon Upgrade Successful!]
[Calamity Fang (Fragment 3/5) - Grade: Epic]
[Attack Power Increased by 200%.]
[New Passive Unlocked: Ambient Mana Devourer.]
The blade had physically changed. It was slightly longer, possessing a terrifyingly sharp, razor-thin edge. The pitch-black metal was now completely covered in faint, glowing green veins.
The new passive ability activated immediately.
Saile watched as the faint, ambient magic in the air was physically sucked directly into the dark blade. The sword was literally breathing, devouring the stray mana left over from the shattered gravity pit.
"Let us test the new edge," Naicul purred in his mind.
"Remember your training from the Dead Sea, kid," Naicul instructed smoothly. "Do
not just swing it like a wild brute. Compress the dark magic."
Saile nodded slowly. He took a deep breath, perfectly recalling the heavy macro-mana control he had practiced for weeks.
He gripped the long hilt with both hands and pushed his raw EX-Rank aura into the sword. He did not let the black lightning completely cover the blade.
Instead, he forcefully compressed the dark magic. He pushed it entirely into the razor-thin edge of the weapon.
A tiny, highly condensed line of pure black lightning settled right on the cutting edge.
Saile locked his brown eyes on a massive, solid boulder left over from Mrog’s shattered earth wall.
With a burst of explosive speed, Saile launched himself forward. He chained a rapid Phantom Step with a low spin sweep to build unstoppable momentum. He executed a flawless, spinning horizontal slash, bringing the sword around with massive kinetic force.
The compressed black lightning sliced through the air with a deafening sonic boom.
The upgraded Calamity Fang cleanly passed right through the solid, ten-foot-tall
boulder. There was absolutely zero physical resistance. It felt exactly like cutting through soft, warm butter.
A second later, the top half of the massive boulder slid off perfectly. It crashed heavily into the dirt, sending a small cloud of dust into the air.
"Beautiful," Saile muttered softly.
He spun the sword smoothly in his hand and sheathed it across his back with a sharp metallic click.
Saile turned around and looked directly at Lady Vesper.
"I am ready," Saile stated clearly. "Take me to the relic vault."
Vesper bowed her head respectfully.
"Right this way, Sovereign," she replied.
She turned and led him toward a heavy iron door completely hidden behind the raised stone altar. Mrog and Alis stayed behind to aggressively guard the war chamber.
Saile and Vesper stepped into another long, downward-sloping tunnel.
This pathway was completely different from the rest of the bunker. The heavy stone walls were lined with glowing, highly volatile red explosive traps. Deep, jagged scorch marks on the ceiling proved that many thieves had died trying to sneak down here.
The freezing air grew heavier and heavier with every single step they took downward. It felt exactly like walking into the frozen maw of a dead beast.
"The relic vault is the most secure location in the entire Lawless Zone," Vesper explained quietly. "Only the three faction leaders have the keys to open the final door. Anyone else who steps on these stairs is instantly incinerated."
They finally reached the absolute bottom of the tunnel.
A massive, incredibly thick circular vault door blocked their path. It was forged from solid white steel and covered entirely in glowing magical locks.
Four heavily armored Elite Guards stood strictly at attention. They wielded glowing, enchanted broadswords.
When they saw Vesper, they immediately crossed their swords in a strict military salute. But when they looked at Saile, they hesitated.
"Open the vault," Vesper commanded loudly. "The Sovereign has finally returned
to us."
The guards’ eyes widened behind their heavy steel visors. They immediately dropped their weapons and fell to one knee, bowing entirely out of raw shock.
Vesper stepped forward and placed her bare hand against the center of the massive steel door. She channeled her Diamond-Tier gravity magic directly into the lock.
The heavy steel groaned loudly. The massive gears inside the door violently clicked and snapped.
With a loud hiss of compressed air, the giant circular door slowly swung open.
"The relic is inside," Vesper whispered, stepping back to give Saile total
space.
Saile pulled his black cloak tight and stepped cleanly over the threshold. He entered the deepest vault of the Remnant army.
The room was surprisingly small and completely dark. There were no torches on
the walls.
The only light came directly from a heavy stone pedestal resting perfectly in the center of the room.
Saile walked slowly toward the pedestal. His heavy boots echoed loudly against the cold floor.
Resting on top of the stone was a thick, solid block of glowing magical amber. It radiated a warm, golden light that completely illuminated the dark vault.
Trapped perfectly in the dead center of the solid amber was a single, blackened finger bone.
It did not look like much. It was small, charred, and heavily damaged.
But the sheer, overwhelming wave of pure Divine Authority leaking from that tiny bone was terrifying. The air in the room felt physically crushing.
"My body," Naicul whispered in Saile’s mind.
The ancient God’s voice was completely stripped of its usual sarcasm. He sounded
entirely desperate and violently hungry.
"A thousand years," Naicul said softly. "They tore me to pieces and scattered me across the dirt like absolute trash. They locked my bones in the dark."
The heavy dark magic inside Saile’s chest began to violently thrash.
The Endless Devourer recognized the divine item. The system was practically screaming at Saile to consume it.
Saile stepped directly up to the stone pedestal.
The golden light of the magical amber reflected brightly in his cold, plain brown eyes. He could feel the volatile purple lightning pulsing deeply inside the blackened bone.
"If I absorb this," Saile asked mentally, "will you try to steal my body again?"
There was a heavy, dead silence in his mind.
"I cannot lie to you, kid," Naicul finally answered. His voice turned cold and brutally honest. "Assimilating a piece of my original flesh will forcefully repair my shattered soul. The Sync Rate is going to violently spike."
Saile slowly reached over his shoulder. He gripped the hilt of the Calamity Fang and fully drew the Epic-grade weapon.
"It will be incredibly agonizing," Naicul warned darkly. "Your mortal bones will break and reforge themselves to handle the raw divine pressure. You might not survive."
"I have to survive," Saile replied coldly. "Avery is waiting for me."
Saile raised the heavy, pitch-black odachi high above his head. He stared down at the glowing block of golden amber.
"Break it, kid," Naicul commanded fiercely. "Let us become whole again."
Saile tightly compressed his dark macro-mana into the razor edge of his blade. He swung the sword directly downward with massive, absolute force.
Swoosh!
