Avery screamed from the crowd.

"Saile!"

Her voice tore through his chest worse than any magic spell. Saile tried to push himself up, grinding his teeth together as he forced his tired muscles to obey.

He managed to lift his head just an inch off the ground.

The Inquisitor laughed coldly.

"Still trying to move? Let me fix that."

The tall man raised his heavy, silver-plated boot. He brought it down with crushing force, stomping directly onto the middle of Saile’s back.

Crack!

The horrible sound echoed across the silent village square.

Saile’s spine shattered instantly. A blinding, white-hot agony exploded through his entire body.

He could not even scream. All the air violently rushed out of his lungs.

His vision blurred into dark, dizzying spots. The pain was too much for his human brain to handle.

He felt his arms and legs go completely numb.

"I warned you," Naicul whispered in the dark corners of Saile’s mind.

The ancient God’s voice was completely empty of pity.

"You play the pacifist, and you lose everything. You are too weak to protect anyone, boy. Go to sleep. I will handle this."

Saile wanted to say no. He wanted to hold onto his mind.

But his health dropped right past the breaking point.

The darkness swallowed him whole.

Suddenly, the entire world stopped moving.

Time seemed to freeze completely. A stray drop of Saile’s blood hung perfectly still in the air, while the dust kicked up by the Inquisitor’s boot stopped floating.

The terrified screams of the villagers faded into absolute silence.

Right in front of Saile’s fading eyes, the familiar golden System screens appeared.

But they were no longer a warm gold.

They turned a dark, bleeding red.

Saile closed his eyes.

He let go.

When the eyes opened again, they were not brown.

They were a piercing, glowing silver.

Time slammed back into motion.

The Lead Inquisitor turned away from the boy’s body, wiping a speck of dust from his silver armor. He looked at his two partners.

"Burn everything. Start with the crying little girl over there."

"I wouldn’t do that if I were you," a voice said.

The Inquisitor froze.

It was the boy’s voice, but it sounded completely different.

It did not sound like a frightened seventeen-year-old orphan. It sounded ancient, heavy, and dripping with raw, sarcastic arrogance.

The three Holy Inquisitors turned around.

Their blue eyes widened in shock.

Saile was not lying in the dirt anymore.

His broken body was rising into the air.

He did not push himself up. He simply floated upward, his feet touching the ground with a soft tap.

Snap. Crack. Pop.

Crazy sounds proceeded from his back and arms.

The shattered spine and broken bones forced themselves back into place.

The healing was brutal and instant.

Saile’s posture straightened unnaturally.

He stood tall, completely relaxed, rolling his shoulders to test the joints.

"Pathetic," Naicul muttered, using Saile’s mouth.

He looked down at his skinny hands and sighed.

"This mortal shell is incredibly frail. But it will have to do for a quick stretch."

The Lead Inquisitor gripped his sword tightly.

"What is this trick, peasant? Did you use a healing potion?"

Naicul slowly lifted his head.

His glowing silver eyes locked onto the Inquisitor.

Boom!

A massive, invisible weight crashed down on the village square.

The sheer physical pressure of Naicul’s presence triggered a deafening sonic boom. The ground beneath his feet shattered completely, forming a massive spiderweb of deep cracks in the dirt.

The three Inquisitors gasped for air.

They felt like a mountain had just been dropped directly onto their shoulders.

The dense, dark EX-Rank mana began to leak wildly from the boy’s skin. It was so thick and toxic that the sunlight around him seemed to dim.

"You called me a rat," Naicul said, his silver eyes narrowing.

He took a single, slow step forward.

"You stomped on my host’s back. You bark orders using magic you stole from me a thousand years ago. I really hate thieves."

"Kill him!" the Lead Inquisitor screamed, his voice shaking with sudden, uncontrollable terror.

"It is a demon! Cut his head off!"

The two backup Inquisitors charged forward.

They pushed their A-Rank holy magic to the absolute limit.

Their silver swords glowed like twin suns. They swung their heavy blades, aiming directly for Naicul’s neck.

Naicul didn’t dodge.

Neither did he do a backflip.

He did not even bother drawing the rusted harpoon from the System inventory.

He just raised his right hand and snapped his fingers.

"Tier-Zero Magic," Naicul whispered coldly.

"Void Edict: Erase."

The world turned black and white for a split second.

A silent, invisible wave of dark energy exploded outward from his fingers.

It hit the two charging Inquisitors instantly.

Their glowing holy swords did not just break.

They turned into gray dust.

The magical silver armor melted away like snow in a fire.

The two men opened their mouths to scream, but no sound came out.

The dark magic ripped right through their bodies, ignoring their A-Rank defenses completely.

In less than a heartbeat, the two veteran Inquisitors popped like water balloons.

They were instantly turned into a fine, red blood mist.

The mist rained softly onto the dirt.

There were no bodies left.

No armor.

Just red stains on the ground.

The villagers of Orali screamed in absolute terror. They pressed themselves flat against the dirt, covering their heads.

This was not the boy they knew.

This was a walking nightmare.

The Lead Inquisitor dropped his sword.

It clattered loudly against the stones.

His hands were shaking so violently he could not hold his weapon. He stared at the empty space where his two partners had been just a second ago.

He could not comprehend this overwhelming power. It defied every single rule of the Church’s talent system.

"What... what are you?" the Inquisitor stammered, falling backward onto the ground.

He scrambled backward, kicking his legs in the dirt like a frightened little princess.

"An SSS-Rank? No... you are a monster!"

"I am your God," Naicul corrected him smoothly.

With a burst of speed so fast it tore the wind, Naicul vanished.

He reappeared instantly, standing right over the crawling Inquisitor.

He reached down and grabbed the tall man by the throat. Naicul lifted the grown man into the air with one single hand.

The Inquisitor choked, kicking his legs wildly as his silver boots dangled above the ground.

"Please," the Inquisitor begged, tears streaming down his sharp face.

"Please, spare me! The Light will forgive you!"

"The Light is a lie," Naicul said.

His silver eyes burned brightly. He tightened his grip on the man’s throat, slowly crushing his windpipe.

"But before you die, you are going to answer a few questions for me. I have been asleep for a very long time."

Naicul raised his free hand.

He formed a small, sharp needle made of pure dark lightning.

He slowly drove the black needle directly into the Inquisitor’s shoulder joint.

The tall man shouted in absolute agony.

The dark magic burned his nerves, sending waves of pure fire through his body.

"First question," Naicul asked calmly, watching the man suffer with a completely bored expression.

"Who sits on the golden throne in the Holy Capital right now? Give me name."

"Po-Pope Naissac!" the Inquisitor screamed, crying freely now.

"Pope Naissac the Merciful! He rules the Holy Church!"

Naicul’s smile vanished completely.

His silver eyes turned as cold as ice.

The air around him dropped to freezing.

"Naissac," Naicul whispered the name like a deadly curse.

"That backstabbing little snake. He really did steal my crown. And he calls himself merciful now? How perfectly hilarious."

Naicul twisted the dark lightning needle, digging it deeper into the man’s flesh.

The Inquisitor wailed, his eyes rolling back in his head from the sheer pain.

"Second question," Naicul continued quietly.

"Where are the others? Where are Raleak and Aril? Are those traitorous Saints still walking this earth?"

"They sleep!" the Inquisitor choked out, spitting blood onto Naicul’s hand.

"The Immortal Saints slumber in the deep crypts! They only wake to guide the Pope! Please, stop! I told you everything!"

"You did," Naicul agreed, tilting his head slightly.

"Thank you for the update. You have been very helpful."

Naicul pulled the dark lightning needle out of the man’s shoulder.

The Inquisitor gasped in sudden relief, thinking he was going to live.

But Naicul did not show mercy.

He simply shifted his grip, grabbed the man’s silver breastplate with his other hand, and pulled sharply.

The crack of bones breaking was loud and wet.

Naicul effortlessly crushed the man’s chest cavity, stopping his heart instantly.

He dropped the lifeless body onto the dirt like a discarded piece of trash.

The ancient God sighed, wiping the blood off his hands onto his torn tunic.

He looked around at the terrified, cowering villagers.

He looked at Avery, who was staring at him with wide, horrified eyes.

She was shaking like a leaf.

"Humans," Naicul said to himself in disgust.

"Always crying. Always afraid."

He felt a sharp tug in the back of his mind.

Saile’s consciousness was slowly starting to wake up, fighting desperately to reclaim his own body. The dark magic surrounding the boy began to flicker and fade.

"Alright, boy, you can have your fragile shell back," Naicul said.

"But remember who saved your life today."

The piercing silver light in his eyes suddenly vanished.

The eyes returned to a warm, soft brown.

The heavy, suffocating pressure lifting off the village square disappeared, and Saile’s body immediately lost all its strength.

He collapsed flat-faced into the dirt, falling completely unconscious.

A golden screen flashed silently in the dark.
