My System Is a Fallen God: I Level Up Endlessly

Chapter 54: Flawless Execution, The Diamond Cores

The canyon hung in a dead, suffocating silence.

Saile stood between the two Holy Knights. The stench of his own charred flesh filled his nose. Yet, the agonizing throb in his ruined arms was gone. It was buried under the cold, clinical apathy of a god.

Sharing thirty percent of his neural pathways with Naicul was a waking nightmare. His heartbeat slowed to a creeping crawl. The hot desert wind felt like freezing ice against his cheeks. He could feel the ancient entity sitting in the passenger seat of his mind, sifting through centuries of slaughter to find the optimal angle of attack.

His right eye tracked the uneven rise of the tall Paladin’s chest. His silver left eye saw the world in geometry and weak points. It saw the rigid, terrified tension locking the man’s muscles.

Religious zealotry overrode basic survival instinct.

The tall Paladin snarled. He ripped his broadsword from the cracked stone. He

lunged, driving his boots into the blood-soaked sand. White fire spilled from the edge of his blade, meant to cleanse the canyon of Heretic filth.

To Saile’s human eyes, the strike was a blur of lethal light. Through Naicul’s synchronized mind, it was agonizingly slow. The angle was too wide. The footing was sloppy. The Paladin was swinging with rage, not discipline.

"Too eager," Naicul whispered.

Saile did not retreat. He let the holy blade inch toward his collarbone. He felt the blistering heat singe the fabric of his torn shirt.

At the last possible fraction of a second, he pivoted. Saile pushed off his toes, launching into a tight, explosive backflip. The movement was entirely his own, driven by his Diamond-Tier agility.

His burned hands, guided by the ghost of Naicul’s ancient grip, angled the Calamity Fang. The dark blade grazed the incoming strike. He parried the momentum just enough to let the fire slide past his chest.

As he inverted in the air, his combat boot snapped outward. His heel caught the Paladin flush on the wrist.

Bone fractured with a sharp snap. The golden gauntlet dented inward.

The holy sword flew from the knight’s grip. It spun uselessly away, clattering against the canyon wall and leaving the tall Paladin staring at his empty, bleeding hand.

Saile landed softly in the dirt. He did not waste breath on a battle cry.

The second Paladin stepped into the gap. He placed his hand over the glowing sunburst insignia embedded directly in the center of his golden breastplate. It was an S-Rank Holy Reliquary, acting as the anchor that projected the heavy nullification field across the canyon.

"In the name of the Saints, burn!" the knight chanted, funneling his mana into the chest piece.

His voice cracked. The prayer died in his throat as he met Saile’s silver eye. The knight realized he was not fighting a teenager. He was looking at the architect of the world’s first ruin.

Naicul guided Saile’s charred fingers. They shifted their grip on the long hilt of the odachi. The thirty-percent combat synchronization erased every trace of human hesitation.

There was no wasted energy. No flashy acrobatics. Just raw, mathematical violence.

Saile channeled a tightly compressed thread of dark mana into the edge of his blade.

[Skill Activated: Divine Strike (B-Grade)]

He stepped into the Paladin’s personal space like a ghost slipping through a locked door. He swung the odachi in a surgical, blinding thrust. The black blade pierced right through the thick center of the Paladin’s breastplate, driving straight into the glowing reliquary.

Glass shattered. Enchanted metal groaned.

The S-Rank holy artifact burst into fine, glittering dust right inside the armor. The oppressive, purifying light died immediately.

Without the artifact suppressing him, Saile’s dark aura flooded the canyon. The temperature plummeted. Frost crept up the rock walls, choking out the desert heat.

The two Paladins realized their god was not coming to save them. They were staring at a true deity of death.

"Retreat!" the tall Paladin choked out, clutching his broken wrist and stepping backward.

They didn’t make it two steps.

Saile vanished into a streak of black lightning. He appeared behind the unarmed

knight. The Calamity Fang moved in a blur, guided by centuries of uninterrupted slaughter.

Saile did not chop. He sheared.

The dark blade slid through the tiny gap in the golden armor at the base of the knight’s neck. The tall Paladin’s head slid off his shoulders, tumbling quietly into the sand. A fountain of crimson sprayed into the dry air, painting the nearby rocks.

The second Paladin spun around. He raised his holy sword in blind, desperate panic, swinging wildly at the shadows.

Saile ducked under the sloppy swing. He drove his free hand forward, grabbing the knight directly by the throat. His Diamond-Tier grip crushed the golden gorget inward, pinning the man in place. The Paladin choked, dropping his sword to claw at Saile’s burned arm.

He brought the odachi up. With a cold, fluid motion, Saile drove the blade straight up through the bottom of the knight’s chin.

The dark steel pierced the brain and exited through the top of the golden helmet. The holy warrior convulsed once and went totally still.

Saile ripped the blade out. He let the corpse drop into the mud.

The fight was over.

The thirty-percent synchronization lingered, leaving a cold, hollow void in Saile’s chest. He looked down at the two dead Diamond-Rank Paladins. Two glowing white spheres floated above their ruined bodies.

They were S-Rank holy cores. They radiated a pure, sickening warmth.

"Eat them," Naicul demanded softly. The ancient voice carried a deep, satisfying malice. "Let their false light feed our dark. Let them fuel the Sovereign."

Saile extended his blackened, ruined hand.

The Endless Devourer woke up. Thick chains of dark lightning lashed out from his palm, snagging the brilliant white cores. The system crushed the holy magic, ripping the raw energy apart and feeding it directly into Saile’s bloodstream.

Golden screens flooded his vision.

A searing, agonizing heat rushed through Saile’s veins. It was entirely different from the destructive holy fire that had melted his skin minutes ago. This heat was restorative. It felt like needles stitching his flesh together

from the inside out.

He watched his forearms. The biological horror of his own healing fascinated the god living in his head. The charred, blackened skin began to peel away like dead bark. Fresh, pale skin rapidly knitted itself together over his exposed bones. The muscle fibers reattached with sickening, wet popping sounds.

The blistering pain faded into a dull throb, then vanished entirely.

Saile slowly flexed his newly healed fingers. The skin was flawless. He gripped the hilt of his sword, feeling the familiar texture of the wrapped leather against his palms.

The physical damage was gone. But the mental toll of sharing his brain with a Fallen God was just beginning.

He dismissed the system screens with a thought. The adrenaline faded, and the cold logic of the synchronization began to recede into the back of his mind.

The silver glow slowly drained from his left eye, returning it to a plain, human brown.

Saile stood alone in the canyon. The bodies of the holy knights lay in the bloody dirt at his feet. Lady Vesper was groaning softly a few yards away, clutching the terrible wound in her shoulder. Mrog and Alis were sprinting down the canyon path to help her.

A normal teenager would feel sick. A normal boy would feel horror at the butchery he had just committed. He had torn throats out. He had decapitated men. He had fed on their souls. He had stood in a river of blood and felt nothing but victory.

Saile searched his own heart for a trace of guilt. He searched for the pacifist orphan who used to fish in the quiet waters of Orali. He looked for the boy who had cried when the Awakening Ceremony went wrong.

He found nothing.

He felt only a quiet, calculated satisfaction. The enemies of his faction were dead. The threat was eliminated. The Holy Church had sent their best, and he had carved them into pieces.

"They bleed just like we do," Saile murmured to himself.

He did not realize he spoke the words in Naicul’s ancient, dead tongue.

The line between the host and the parasite was blurring dangerously. Saile turned his back on the golden corpses. He sheathed the Calamity Fang. The physical war in the desert was won.

The mental war for his own soul was just beginning.
