By the time Phei stepped out of the dressing room, the penthouse had gathered enough beauty, perfume, and feminine attention to turn breakfast into a diplomatic hazard.
He emerged dressed entirely in white.
The high collar of his turtleneck framed his throat and sat close across his broad shoulders, while the fine ribbed fabric followed the strength of his chest and arms with quiet precision. Matching trousers rose neatly around his waist before descending in wide, immaculate lines, their sharp pleats lending graceful structure to the relaxed cut.
Phei wore it, and simplicity became celestial arrogance.
Morning light poured through the glass walls and settled over him in pale gold. Against the white, his dark hair looked deeper than ink, while his amethyst eyes gained a crystalline brilliance capable of holding attention hostage. His complexion appeared flawless, his features sharpened into otherworldly harmony, and the lazy satisfaction behind his gaze added enough heat to corrupt the purity of the entire picture.
He looked immaculate and pure enough to have stepped out of an untouched heaven; hot enough to explain why heaven had eventually developed sin.
The entire room stopped for him and conversations died mid-sentence... eyes—every single pair—locked onto Phei the moment he appeared.
Catrina looked him over with open, shameless hunger. Victoria’s composure lasted only three seconds before her gaze dropped to his waist and stayed. Valentina studied him with the same intensity she usually reserved for training, except the heat underneath was anything but professional. Amber’s lips parted. Patricia’s mature restraint lost the fight against a smile. Maya’s silver eyes melted into pure adoration. Cassiopeia’s stare lingered long enough to become a silent confession. Nastya recovered too late behind a lifted chin. Even Lydia forgot her unease for a breath.
Sierra just smiled slowly, already knowing exactly what he did to them—and still completely defenseless against it.
Delilah who stood beside Melissa in her grey and black outfit, one hand resting near the hem of her skirt, and froze so completely that the warmth already staining her cheeks deepened into something far more incriminating.
Phei stopped before them and allowed the silence to flatter him.
His mouth curved:
"What?"
Maddie placed a hand over her heart. "Go back inside."
Phei glanced down at himself. "Why?"
"That outfit is hostile."
Yuki gave him a slow examination. "The white is fraudulent advertising."
"It is clothing."
"It is entrapment disguised as knitwear."
Amber finally found her voice. "You look like a celestial prince arriving to pardon everyone’s sins."
Catrina smiled. "He looks more likely to create several new ones before lunch."
Amber considered him again. "That too."
Valentina folded her arms. "The outfit fits properly."
Phei looked at her. "That sounded almost disappointing."
"It means whoever tailored it understood your proportions."
Maddie’s eyes widened. "Valentina."
"What?"
"You said proportions with dangerous energy."
Valentina met her stare without blinking. "I trained him. I know his proportions."
Patricia took a measured sip of coffee. "That explanation worsened matters considerably."
Laughter moved through the room.
Nastya kept her arms crossed. "It looks fine."
Phei turned his attention toward her.
The faint red touching Nastya’s ears deepened under the full weight of his gaze.
He remained silent.
"It looks exceptionally fine," she amended with smooth Romano dignity.
Maddie laughed. "The sharpshooter has been hit."
Phei’s gaze moved to Delilah.
Her thick grey turtleneck carried a heavy ribbed texture that softened her royal beauty while emphasizing the graceful length of her neck and the lush shape beneath the fabric. The sweater tucked into a fitted black skirt cinched high around her waist, tracing her hips before ending well above her knees. Black thigh-high boots wrapped her long legs, leaving a narrow strip of bare skin between leather and skirt that drew his eyes with immediate appreciation.
Her throat remained bare off any jewelry, and the clean simplicity made the outfit feel intimate, elegant, and dangerously easy to remember.
Phei studied her from head to toe.
Slowly.
Delilah’s blush returned with such speed that several women noticed at once.
Melissa’s own outfit drew Phei’s attention next.
Melissa had chosen a champagne-toned knit dress that crossed elegantly over her chest before gathering beneath a slim belt at her waist. The soft fabric embraced her mature curves with graceful confidence and fell below her knees, while a cream shawl rested over her shoulders.
Her dark hair flowed in loose waves around a face glowing with restored vitality, morning warmth, and the quiet satisfaction of having been thoroughly cherished.
She looked regal, soft.
Phei crossed the room and took her hand:
"You look unfair beautiful."
Melissa smiled. "That is vague praise from you."
"You look like your feet should never touch the floor today."
Her eyes warmed. "You already carried me this morning."
"And the world improved."
Delilah drew a long breath through her nose. "Can we reach breakfast before both of you force me to leave through a window?"
Maddie raised her hand with delighted urgency. "Speaking of breakfast, I already told Hayashi we would be eating in the Empyrean Dining Hall, while you were occupied."
The word travelled through the penthouse and detonated with remarkable efficiency.
Sierra’s smile sharpened.
Catrina looked between Melissa and Delilah, curiosity brightening immediately while everyone looked interested.
Delilah looked ready to strangle Maddie with the nearest curtain.
Maddie widened her eyes. "Occupied with dressing."
Cassiopeia spoke with perfect calm. "Your innocence lacks supporting evidence."
Maddie gasped. "Even Cassiopeia has turned against me. Morning has made everyone cruel."
Phei shook his head and moved toward the entrance. "Fine. Empyrean Dining Hall."
The penthouse shifted into motion.
Maddie moved ahead beside Yuki, Amber joined them, half listening and half continuing to glance at Delilah with growing delight but Maya stayed near Phei, silver hair flowing over a pale dress as she watched him with quiet softness. Sierra walked beside her, one arm loosely linked through Emily’s.
Lydia remained close to Emily as well, drawing reassurance from familiar company.
Catrina and Cassiopeia followed together, their contrast was striking. Catrina carried open sensual confidence now, while Cassiopeia moved with cool, dangerous poise.
Valentina walked near Patricia, the former dressed in a sleek athletic ensemble that emphasized her disciplined figure, while Patricia carried mature elegance in a dark tailored dress and long coat.
Their low conversation ended whenever Phei glanced toward them, which naturally made him more curious.
Nastya preserved an exquisitely casual position near the center of the group, always within easy reach of Phei while behaving as though the arrangement had occurred through innocent geometry.
Victoria joined from the far side of the living room, dressed in a fitted black outfit sharpened by silver accents. Her beauty remained cold, polished, and formidable. She greeted her mother then studied Delilah’s blush and bare throat with one long, intelligent look.
Delilah immediately looked elsewhere.
Roxanne emerged last in muted luxury, her mature beauty carrying enough command to make several younger women instinctively straighten. Sierra offered her an arm, and Roxanne accepted before looking Phei over once more.
"White suits you, Phei, or should I say son-in-law." she said.
Phei smiled. "You sound surprised, mother-in-law."
"I am surprised the fabric survived your reputation."
Maddie nearly walked into the doorframe laughing.
Before entering the elevator, Phei looked across the group and counted the visible faces.
"What about Mother, Diana, Ashford Madam, Elena, Landon, David, and Brian?"
"They’re already there," Emily answered.
"Already?"
The elevator doors opened, though Phei remained outside for another moment.
His gaze travelled across the women again.
Sierra noticed first.
"Soraya had to visit her sister," she told him. "Noor wanted to escort her. They asked me to tell you."
Phei nodded, and a faint thread of disappointment entered his expression. "I wanted Melissa to meet them."
Melissa slipped her hand into his.
"I already have, last night." Her thumb brushed warmly over his knuckles. "They are lovely."
"I know. I wanted to introduce them properly."
Melissa’s smile became knowing. "You wanted to present them while looking proud of yourself."
Phei considered denial, found no profitable outcome, and abandoned it. "Perhaps."
She leaned against his arm. "Believe me, my love, I know everyone who entered your life while I was away; I know about Noor and Soraya," she continued. "I know Catrina has already found her place near you."
Catrina smiled, clearly pleased.
Then her attention settled upon Nastya Romano.
"Heck, I even know Nastya made her move."
Nastya’s face turned red with breathtaking speed, the sharpshooter recovered through sheer pride and lifted her chin. "My approach was precise."
Maddie burst into laughter. "The legendary sharpshooter move."
"Do not make it sound ridiculous."
Yuki leaned toward Maddie. "Her nonchalance is bleeding out."
"With dignity," Maddie whispered.
Amber tilted her head. "Should we call a doctor?"
Nastya heard all three and chose silence, which frightened them more than retaliation.
They entered the elevator.
Perfume, warmth, and feminine presence filled the spacious interior. Melissa remained on one side of Phei with their fingers linked. Delilah stood on the other side of her mother, preserving a careful inch between them.
Maya settled close on other side of Phei. Sierra, Emily, and Lydia gathered nearby, while Valentina and Patricia stood near the mirrored wall. Catrina, Cassiopeia, Roxanne, Victoria, Nastya, Maddie, Yuki, and Amber completed the crowded circle around him.
Phei caught their reflections across the polished interior.
Sixteen women.
Sixteen separate beauties, tempers, histories, ambitions, and dangerous attachments arranged around one young dragon before breakfast.
His life had become unreasonable.
He liked it immensely.
