Sienna’s hands tightened around the wheel before the tips of her pale ears reddened first and the colour spread across her cheeks; it was faint, but on the face of the Nether Goddess it looked almost catastrophic, as if winter itself had suddenly remembered warmth and become ashamed of the weakness.
"Yes... P-Phei’s essence stabilised me."
Dravenna remained silent.
Sienna’s blush deepened.
She had forced the words out, yet Dravenna had offered no reaction, no nod and no merciful interruption that would allow the conversation to end.
Infuriating woman.
Sienna stared ahead with growing resentment.
"I can harness my power now to the fullest of my cultivation stage," she continued stiffly. "Both Nether Energy and Death Energy. My body no longer breaks beneath the burden of my power, and the energies are no longer leaking continuously into the surroundings."
Still, Dravenna said nothing and the silence became pointed.
Sienna’s eyes narrowed.
"What?"
"I am listening."
"You are staring."
"I can do both."
Sienna briefly considered opening the passenger door and allowing gravity to conclude the conversation. Unfortunately, Dravenna would simply fly back into the car and continue asking questions, which would make the attempt both dramatic and useless.
She turned her attention back to the road:
"My cultivation also advanced too."
That finally caused a change in Dravenna’s expression: "How far?"
Sienna hesitated.
"Divine Queen.<anno data-annotation-id="c4e6cf18-fe19-9949-282a-2e88c88e0439" data-title=""">"1</anno>
The words entered the car quietly but their meaning did not; Dravenna’s jade eyes widened.
Although she had expected advancement, she had expected one realm, perhaps two if the transformation had been unusually complete. She had not expected Sienna to cross the distance between Saint (the cultivation Sienna had been at) and Divine Queen in a single night.
That was not a breakthrough but a heavenly staircase collapsing upward beneath her feet.
"You crossed from the Saint stage to the Divine Queen stage?"
"Yes."
"In one night?"
Sienna’s grip tightened again: "Must you make it sound so indecent?"
"I am discussing something akin to dual cultivation here... what do you expect?"
"You are enjoying this way too much."
"I am concerned."
"While you are smiling?"
Dravenna immediately flattened her expression, which only proved Sienna correct.
The Nether Goddess looked deeply unimpressed:
"The feather elixir had already strengthened my mortal body," she explained. "And it also helped me cultivate my flesh, bones, organs and meridians until my physical body reached the Half-Divine Stage. However, my true spiritual (energy) cultivation remained unstable."
Before the previous night, her condition had been nearly impossible to classify through ordinary cultivation laws.
Her body possessed the strength of a Half-Divine body, yet the cultivation housed within it had remained suspended between the Divine Being stage and the Saint stage. Her Nether Goddess Soul stood far beyond both, ancient and vast, while her meridians remained too narrow to support the energies flowing from it.
Body Cultivation... Spiritual Cultivation... Soul.
Three foundations that should have risen together had instead existed like mismatched celestial pillars holding up the same collapsing temple.
Whenever she summoned too much Nether Energy, her meridians split.
Whenever she released Death Energy, her organs began failing beneath the corrosion.
Whenever she entered her true Soul Realm or assumed the Nether Goddess form, her flesh was forced to carry an existence it had never been designed to contain.
The elixir from the Great Immortal God’s feather had helped tremendously; it had tempered her flesh with corrupted divine essence, reinforced her meridians and pushed her physical foundation to the Half-Divine Stage.
But strengthening the body had not resolved the imbalance completely.
"My cultivation was still shifting between the Divine Being and Saint Realms," Sienna continued. "It had not properly consolidated. My soul was too powerful, my body had advanced too suddenly, and the Nether and Death were resisting one another just like in the past instead of circulating through the same cycle."
Dravenna listened carefully.
Sienna’s blush returned with renewed violence.
"But when Phei took my... my..."
Her words stopped.
Dravenna waited.
Sienna’s jaw tightened.
"You know what."
"I do."
"Then there is no reason for me to say it."
"None at all."
Sienna gave her a suspicious glance, but Dravenna’s face had become perfectly serious again.
"When that happened," Sienna continued, speaking faster in the desperate hope that speed might reduce mortification, "my cultivation finally consolidated at the Saint Realm. The chaotic foundations inside my body aligned for the first time. Nether became Yin and Death became the law within it. And my Soul ceased pressing blindly against the my body and began circulating through it."
Dravenna’s brows drew together.
"And then?"
"Something strange happened."
"Strange by mortal standards or yours?"
"Mine."
That answer extinguished the last trace of amusement from Dravenna’s expression.
Sienna rarely called anything strange. When one had existed as a Goddess, and her Soul Realm kept continent-sized dead immortal gods buried inside mountains of fused divinity, the threshold for strangeness rose considerably.
Sienna drew in a measured breath:
"Before he released his essence into me, I absorbed Soul Energy from Phei."
"How much?"
Sienna was silent for several seconds.
Then her expression turned faintly troubled.
"Too much."
Dravenna waited.
Sienna’s fingers shifted against the wheel.
"An enormous amount."
"How enormous?"
"Really, really enormous." The childish emphasis sounded absurd coming from her, which made it far more alarming.
Dravenna’s gaze sharpened.
Soul Energy was not ordinary spiritual power. Mana nourished the body and techniques. Divine Essence reinforced laws, bloodlines. Soul Energy nourished the very architecture of existence within a cultivator.
It was the energy of completed Soul Realms.
The current of divine consciousness; the essence used only by Divine Lords and higher beings to shape their inner worlds, strengthen Primordial Souls and impose personal laws upon reality.
Even Saint Realm cultivators could not safely touch it, if you do no consider the likes of Sienna and yet Phei possessed it while remaining within the Mortal Realm.
And Sienna had absorbed enough to frighten herself.
"My Soul Realm expanded," Sienna said.
Dravenna’s breath slowed.
"How much?"
"In simple terms it is now approximately the size seven Earths."
The car continued racing, the sun continued burning but for several heartbeats, Dravenna forgot both existed.
Sienna’s Soul Realm had already been monstrous. It was no ordinary Inner World filled with mountains, spirit rivers and ancestral palaces but a vast wound in existence, a dominion of black lakes, unfinished dead, Nether storms and divine corpses held beneath her sovereign will.
Now that world had expanded to the scale of entire seven planets.
Worse, the increase had occurred because of Phei’s Soul Energy.
"The expansion did more than increase its size," Sienna continued. "The realm stabilized too. It no longer tear whenever I enter and the laws inside it have stopped grinding against my consciousness, and the pressure of assuming my Goddess form no longer feels as though my soul is being peeled apart."
Her voice became quieter:
"I will not suffer that pain anymore."
Dravenna looked at her.
For once, the Nether Goddess’s face held no embarrassment.
Only relief; small and controlled to almost being hidden but real.
Dravenna and the Empress understood that pain better than anyone.
They knew the sacrifice demanded each time Sienna reached for her power and understood the violent imbalance between her cultivation, her Soul Realm and the true form of the Nether Goddess.
Every transformation had been an act of self-destruction.
Every use of genuine power she completely owned always forced that ancient power through a body that could scarcely withstand its shadow. Bones fractured, her meridians split and organs failed.
Nether Energy leaked through her flesh and poisoned the world around her.
Even breaking the Lesser God Witch’s dome had nearly destroyed her body.
Sienna had summoned the her Unfinished and unleashed Nether and Death in a single horrifying convergence and forced her power against a barrier built from Lesser Divine Law. The dome had broken, but the backlash had torn through her body so violently that she had been forced to retreat into her Soul Realm before her body collapsed completely.
Had her soul remained in her body for even a few breaths longer, there might not have been enough left of her body to recover.
And the danger had not ended there.
The Nether Energy leaking from her shattered body had spread through Infinity Chaos Hotel, devouring warmth, poisoning space and nearly summoning undeads and turning kids into her undeads.
Had Hayashi not reacted quickly, the resulting catastrophe might have swallowed far more than a single room.
