Sienna shook her head without hesitation:

"Unless it becomes absolutely necessary, no."

"Why?"

"I cannot directly attack an unawakened being without consequence... Danton is Phei’s opponent; this is his battle."

Dravenna nodded slowly, but concern tightened her expression.

"But..."

"Yes," Sienna interrupted. "Danton possesses power. He may even command strength comparable to the Divine Lord Realm; but it changes nothing."

"Borrowed power?" Dravenna said.

"Precisely. His strength does not truly belong to his current existence and his soul and bloodline powers still remain unawakened. Until he awakens, the Laws of the Universe still recognize him as mortal."

Sienna’s fingers rested lightly upon the steering wheel, yet the black-violet Nether around them stirred with restrained violence:

"If I fight him directly, I will be breaking the Laws governing this world. You know what will happen afterward if do actually attack a mortal, do you not?"

Dravenna’s expression became solemn.

"Yes."

Earth was not powerless merely because it appeared small.

The gods of Earth might not possess enough strength to defeat beings like Sienna or the ancient families at standing behind Phei (if both really awakened all their powers than right now), but strength was not the only authority that mattered.

Earth’s gods governed the laws of this realm.

They also maintained its barriers, its restrictions; if those Laws were broken severely enough, the said "offender" would be expelled from the Earth realm.

Dravenna leaned back against her seat.

"So Phei must fight Danton himself, at least until the Destined Day comes and the Legacy bloodlines awaken."

"Yes."

"But he is still too weak," Dravenna said. "Danton alone is dangerous enough. The beings gathered around the Maxtons and Heavenchilds make the situation worse... but they’re also restricted by the same law, at least, right?"

"Those beings are different, Dragon."

Dravenna turned toward her again.

Sienna’s violet gaze remained on the road.

"They are trespassers," she explained. "If they act independently, I am permitted to intervene. They do not possess the same protection as the unawakened Legacies."

"But since they’re summoned by Danton and they’re all tied to his soul (more or less) the matter becomes more troublesome."

The sunlight shifted across Sienna’s face as the car entered another long bend beside the cliffs.

"If a summoned being has been directly linked to Danton through blood, soul, Fate or a binding contract, attacking them may be interpreted as attacking him. The same applies to any creature whose existence has been made an extension of his own."

Dravenna’s eyes narrowed.

"And if you violate that distinction..."

"I will force the gods of Earth to step forward," Sienna said. "They will expel me from this realm."

Dravenna released a slow breath.

"I know. That is precisely why the Madam has never acted directly against the Maxtons or Heavenchilds, despite everything they have done. The same is true of the Lin family."

"Mmm."

Sienna nodded once.

"The gods of this world cannot necessarily overpower either family once we really use all our powers. But they control the laws of this little rock. That is enough."

A faint trace of contempt entered her voice when she called Earth a little rock, but Dravenna ignored it.

"Any being above the Sovereign God Realm who releases even two percent of their true power on Earth will be rejected automatically," Sienna continued. "The world itself will force them out and cast them into another realm. No appeal. No negotiation."

"So in the end," Dravenna said, "even we remain at the mercy of the Laws of the Universe."

Sienna’s expression darkened.

"For now."

Unlike the Legacy Families, whose present strength remained beneath the Sovereign God Realm and could therefore be exercised with far fewer restrictions, beings such as Dravenna, Sienna, Chaos and the rest of her family, the Lin family and the other powers watching from beyond Earth could not act freely even if they used lesser powers... they were like outsiders in this world; unlike the Legacies.

The laws binding them were severe.

They could not casually attack unawakened mortals.

They could not descend with their full cultivation and settle earthly grudges through overwhelming force.

They could not simply erase the Legacy Families before the Destined Day, no matter how easily some among them might have accomplished it elsewhere.

But those restrictions were only part of the problem.

Threads of Fate had already spread around Phei.

They bound him to his family, his allies, the Legacy heirs and every ancient being connected to the coming awakening. Those threads forbade Sienna and the others from simply attacking, much less killing the Legacies before awakened.

Death would not truly remove them.

If an unawakened Legacy heir was slain by anyone connected to him they could return as Supreme Immortals.

And they would return against Phei.

Worse, because the return would have been caused through an outside violation of Fate, the Laws of the Universe would no longer suppress them in the same manner. Earth’s gods would not be able to expel them merely for unleashing their full strength against the person to whom their vengeance had become bound.

Phei would be forced to face a Supreme Immortal without the protection of Earth’s restrictions.

If that happened now, there would be no battle.

Only his end.

Yes, Sienna or any of the others could swallow a forbidden pill, briefly force their cultivation beneath the world’s detection and kill Danton at the cost of being expelled from Earth afterward; they did no care about being exiled from the Little Rock.

But they would not be saving Phei.

They would be abandoning him to the consequence of their interference.

A Supreme Immortal, no longer restrained by the Laws of the Universe, would descend upon him with they’re complete power.

That was why power alone could not solve this.

That was why beings capable of crushing continents remained silent while the Maxtons and Heavenchilds continued moving beneath their noses.

And Danton knew it and understood the restrictions surrounding Phei and his overly powerful families (Ryujin Tiamats and the Lin) rather intimately and he also knew the higher beings protecting the Young Dragon could not strike him directly without risking a far greater disaster.

’Well, he does not know about the Supreme Mortal thing or he’d make Phei kill him for an instant power-up upon awakening!’

Anyways, Danton had found another path:

Through the five Chained elves, Danton had summoned the Void-Djinns and linked their existences to his own. They were also bound to the elves who had opened the Eternal Prison Gates, creating overlapping threads of ownership linking them to Danton, his soul and bloodline.

Attacking them recklessly could count as attacking Danton.

And if Sienna’s instincts were correct, which they almost always were, the Maxtons and Heavenchilds possessed far more Chained beings than the Lesser God Witch she had already taken from them.

Some had likely been linked to Danton already.

Others were still undergoing the process.

Powerful prisoners, stolen races and summoned creatures were being woven into extensions of the Jörmungandr Prince’s mortal existence, each new bond creating another weapon that Earth’s strongest protectors could not easily destroy.

If Sienna, Dravenna or anyone of comparable cultivation attacked those beings without understanding the exact nature of their bindings, the Laws of the Universe would judge them as having violated the protection surrounding an unawakened Legacy.

And Earth would cast them out!
