Chapter 460
Seeing the sphere approaching him with astonishing speed, Orvak ground his teeth and pointed his one remaining hand forward.
"Help me."
Silver didn’t need to be told twice. She swiftly combed her hair with her claws, and soon, an electrical trail could be seen running up and down her strands of silver hair.
Orvak’s tail was also pointed forward.
Then—
BOOOM!
An obsidian void sphere shot forward at breakneck speed.
At the same time, a crescent-shaped electrical slash erupted from Silver’s hair, surging forward before coalescing with Orvak’s attack.
Raze turned around and saw the combined attack almost upon them.
His eyes narrowed.
He immediately darted away with all his might, barely escaping the blast.
KA-BOOOOOM—!
A thunderous shockwave exploded in every direction, spreading across fifty metres and violently knocking several Aspirants off the buildings they stood on.
Those strong enough quickly anchored themselves as low as possible, gripping onto whatever they could while the shockwave tore past them.
Houses that had already been weakened by the repeated clashes could be seen crumbling like towers of cards, their structures collapsing beneath the overwhelming force.
Even Raze was sent crashing through a store.
His body tore through the walls before he managed to stop himself with his earth ability.
A few seconds passed in tense silence as the dust slowly began to settle.
[Daigeto; What happened? I can’t see shit.]
[Proud Hater: Is this how to do a broadcast? Fucking fix your cameras already.]
[Fenrir-StormSpear: Is it just me, or did my room just shake from that attack? Damn. Who could be strong enough to unleash something like that?]
Soon, the dust settled enough to reveal Orvak on his knees, panting heavily, while Silver stood beside him, examining his debilitating condition.
"He did this to you? How?!"
Orvak didn’t reply.
Instead, he lifted his head and looked at Silver’s own condition, his expression twisting into a frown.
"Who did this to you?"
Silver didn’t reply either.
Her claws tightened slightly.
Two powerful forces of the Abberants had been reduced to a pathetic state, and the situation had left them with no other choice but to escape.
How would the other Abberants react when they heard that two of their supposed leaders had fled from the battlefield?
Not only would they lose respect, but some of the newer Abberants might even challenge them for their positions, deeming them unfit and too weak to rule.
This was bad...
Jack landed in the street with feline grace, his axe resting firmly on his shoulder.
Raze walked out of the store he had been knocked into.
And at the same time—
"AWHOOOOOOO!"
Part of the wall was smashed apart as Bruce furiously walked out.
His fangs were on full display, and the torn-off leg he had lost earlier was now completely regenerated.
His yellow eyes glowed angrily with an almost golden sheen as he snarled in Orvak’s direction.
The Abberant stood upright, his gaze flickering between a smirking Jack and a furious Bruce.
"What’s that?" he whispered in Silver’s direction.
"...."
"What put me in this condition? A human that can transform into a beast for some weird reason."
Orvak stared at Bruce’s form for several seconds.
His eyes glinted.
Then, they sparkled with recognition.
"That’s no ordinary beast. It’s a werewolf. I would know because I battled one a long time ago. The race still exists?"
Seeing that Orvak wasn’t attacking, Jack finally allowed himself to properly take in Bruce’s appearance, raising a brow.
"...Or I think I did battle one. My memory is hazy, and I don’t know if it’s mine or His.... Anyway, what’s one doing fighting for humanity?"
Silver listened to Orvak’s rambling.
Soon, the sound of helicopters cutting through the air could be heard.
The Abberants lifted their heads.
More humans could be seen standing at the hatches, ready to descend.
’This is bad. Reinforcements have arrived?’
BOOOM—!
Bruce suddenly lunged forward without any warning whatsoever, catching Silver completely off guard.
His fist rocketed towards her face.
"Call it in," Orvak uttered.
He simply blurred forward, meeting the werewolf’s incoming fist head-on.
BANG!
Their knuckles collided in mid-air with a resounding explosion that sent cracks spiralling across the earth beneath them.
The sheer force of the collision made the surrounding air tremble.
Then—
Crack!
Crack!
Crack!
Bruce’s eyes widened as the sound of his bones breaking echoed from his arm.
The Abberant’s overwhelming strength tore through his limb, ripping the arm completely from his shoulder.
Blood sprayed through the air as Bruce’s body was knocked backward.
But Orvak didn’t stop there.
His tail lashed forward like a striking viper, aimed directly at the werewolf.
CLANG!
Jack suddenly emerged into view and intercepted the tail strike in the nick of time.
His axe slammed against the appendage, sparks exploding from the point of impact as he forced it away.
His other hand crackled with white light.
The energy surrounding his arm intensified, glowing brighter and brighter as he prepared to detonate it.
Meanwhile, militants could be seen descending from the hovering hellicarrier through ropes.
Dozens of them poured onto the battlefield.
It was clear these were the militants sent to defend the food factory, especially with Captain Jake and Captain Drey being the first to descend.
Orvak glanced towards them before returning his attention to Jack.
"We will meet again, you all."
Jack’s fist shot towards his face.
Orvak grinned.
"...We will meet again, and the next time we do, I’m coming back stronger to take your life for this."
A second before Jack’s fist could smash into the Abberant’s face, a gigantic beam suddenly descended from the Abberants’ Mother Ship.
It swallowed both Silver and Orvak at once.
"Thanks for showing me all I wanted to see today."
Orvak grinned in Jack’s direction.
Jack’s fist passed through the Abberant’s body harmlessly, completely unable to touch him within the strange beam.
"Wuait!"
Bruce howled as he attempted to chase after the beam.
His remaining claws dug into the ground as he pushed himself forward, but he was already too late.
Silver casually turned her gaze in his direction.
Her eyes remained fixed on the werewolf for several seconds before the beam suddenly shot upward.
With a loud, resounding roar, it vanished back into the Mother Ship.
The gigantic vessel began moving away.
For something of its immense size and weight, it was surprisingly agile, accelerating through the sky as it rapidly increased the distance between itself and the battlefield.
Everybody—both at home and on the battlefield—stood in stunned silence.
Nobody moved for several seconds.
They simply stared at the retreating Abberants with expressions ranging from shock to confusion...
And finally, excitement.
The comment section was the first to explode.
[Jimmy_Parker: We won?! We fucking won this invasion?!]
[Anime weeb: Oh goodness. We won.]
[Goon lord: Tsk. I had to go beat my meat one last time thinking we would all die. Anyway, let’s go do some celebratory beating now.]
The Aspirants on the battlefield suddenly roared in unison.
Tears streamed down their faces as they gazed at the retreating Mother Ship.
Some collapsed onto their knees, sobbing uncontrollably.
The ones who had lost dear friends on the battlefield...
The ones who had watched their comrades die...
The ones who had genuinely believed they were going to die themselves...
They all shed tears.
The militants and Vanguard who had landed and prepared themselves for battle also paused.
Common soldiers began hugging one another, laughing and celebrating after narrowly escaping death.
The battlefield that had been filled with screams, explosions, blood, and destruction only moments ago was now filled with cheers.
But while basically everybody else was celebrating, Ray’s friends didn’t move an inch.
Their gazes remained fixed on Bruce.
"What happens now?" Chloe muttered, her heart practically leaping inside her chest.
The moment the Abberants began retreating, Bruce clicked his tongue.
He angrily abandoned the chair.
Ray immediately rushed forward and took control of it.
Shiiiing!
Shiiiiing!
Shiiing!
Weapons were immediately raised towards Ray.
Guns cocked.
Barrels locked onto his body.
Every weapon was ready to fire.
Raze also lifted his axe towards the boy, who was already beginning to de-transform.
Jack merely turned his head, calmly observing the sudden change in the situation.
"Aspirant Dawson..."
Raze paused for a moment.
His gaze remained fixed on Ray.
Then he shook his head.
The fur covering Ray’s body began shedding away.
His claws slowly retracted.
His monstrous frame began shrinking back towards its human form.
Raze’s expression hardened.
"You abominable creature..."
His voice carried across the battlefield.
"...you are under arrest."
