My Ultimate OP System: Summoning All Dragons, Gods, Heroes & Villains
Chapter 367: Demon Interrogation (1st Bonus)The King rose from his throne and walked toward the restrained demon.
"The body this creature inhabits once belonged to one of our my citizens." His expression darkened. "That life was stolen the moment this demon took possession."
He reached into his robes before producing the dark-purple crystal Dark Nova had handed over earlier.
Holding it between two fingers, he continued, "From what Norman reported, this is the source of the possession."
He handed the crystal to Ethan. "Apparently, the souls of demons reside within these."
Ethan accepted it, slowly turning the crystal between his fingers. "It does feel strange."
Carson nodded. "Norman also informed me that it temporarily amplifies those who consume it. Which means people are likely taking these willingly because of the power they promise."
He looked toward the restrained demon. "My concern is how far this has already spread."
Ethan continued studying the crystal for another moment before his thoughts drifted back to the previous night, when Hayley fought her uncle.
"The demons have infiltrated my country." The King’s voice pulled Ethan from his thoughts.
Then Ethan looked toward the kneeling demon. "Perhaps, we should get some of those questions answered."
He gestured toward the restrained demon. "May I?"
King Carson studied him for a moment before giving a nod.
Ethan raised his right hand towards it, activating his Aspect of Dominion Affinity.
An invisible force seized the demon and dragged him across the floor, stopping only when Ethan’s hand closed firmly around his throat.
The demon struggled against his grip, but Ethan paid it no attention. Instead, he borrowed a skill from his vampire summon, Andrea.
From her, he borrowed the Heydrich Family’s trait of Compulsion, a trait she had inherited through Merlin’s experiments.
Ethan looked directly into the demon’s eyes as the compulsion took hold.
With the amplification granted by his own trait, the Compulsion had reached an even higher level that even a Grade Seven Sorcerer Demon found itself unable to resist.
Ethan began calmly. "How many of those crystals are already inside Gritnia?"
The demon answered. "There are already several hundreds... perhaps thousands... within this country."
The King’s expression immediately darkened. "Thousands?"
His voice carried a note of shock and disbelief.
Ethan continued. "Besides yourself, are there others who have already possessed human bodies?"
"There is one I know of." The Demon said. "She currently possesses a woman named Rosalind Twaddle, a member of this country’s parliament."
King Carson shook his head and sighed.
The demon continued. "As for others... I do not know. Those decisions belong to my master."
Ethan’s eyes narrowed. "How so"
"Our souls are trapped within that crystal and will only take possession of the body when our master commands it," Demon Glen answered.
That immediately prompted Ethan’s next question. "Who is your master?"
The demon remained silent for a brief moment before answering. "I cannot say."
That answer caught Ethan off guard, but he asked again. "Who is your master?"
The demon gave exactly the same response. "I cannot say."
Ethan frowned, wondering what was preventing the answer from surfacing, even under the effects of amplified Compulsion.
However, he abandoned the question and asked again. "What is the true goal with these crystals?"
The demon slowly turned towards Ishtar. "We are here... for her."
It raised a trembling finger toward the girl.
"My master has need of the power she carries."
Ethan’s eyes widened.
King Carson instinctively looked toward Ishtar before turning back to the demon. "What power?"
Ethan quietly exhaled, knowing this was going and couldn’t stop it from being answered now.
A grin suddenly spread across the demon’s face. "She carries the power of a god."
The King’s eyes widened, so did Iroh. However Ethan gave no visible expression as he already knew this.
Then, the demon’s eyes instantly turned blood-red as thin streams of blood began running from both eyes.
It smiled even wider. "I have failed him...so he has come for me."
Blood poured more heavily from its eyes, ears, and nose. Its body convulsed before every ounce of strength left it.
The lifeless body slumped forward as Ethan immediately released his grip, looking at the corpse with visible disgust.
Ishtar’s mind struggled to process what had just happened. Was the demon dead or had Glen just died?
General Iroh immediately motioned toward two palace attendants. "Remove the body."
The two hurried forward before carrying the corpse from the throne room.
Only after they were gone did King Carson look back toward Ethan and Ishtar. His expression had become more serious.
He looked directly at Ethan. "What did that demon mean? What power of a god is she carrying?"
Ethan glanced toward Ishtar for a brief moment. Then he turned back at the King and let out a sigh.
-
After a while, Ethan had explained everything.
He told the King about the fragment of Carrion, how it had come into existence, and how Ishtar had ultimately become its vessel.
He also mentioned how it had been agreed between he and Rayleigh to keep this part a secret.
King Carson turned toward Ishtar for a brief moment before returning his gaze to Ethan.
"So tell me something... why did you both think it wise to keep something like this from me?"
Ethan then asked. "Your Majesty...If we had told you about Ishtar from the very beginning, would you not have wanted to make use of her power just as those in the Demon Continent?"
Carson answered bluntly. "Of course I would. Why would I not?"
Then he pointed towards Ishtar.
"She was never supposed to be here in the first place, but jr she possesses a power capable of benefiting this country in any capacity... why would you think I would hesitate to make use of it, Ethan?"
Ishtar slowly lowered her eyes. There was this visible sadness on her face.
Ethan sighed and shook his head. Well....You’re certainly honest about it."
Carson showed no embarrassment over his answer. "Being a ruler isn’t about babying people. It is about making difficult decisions for the sake of everyone else."
He gestured again toward her. "Imagine she had been placed under proper supervision from the beginning."
"Imagine she had been trained as part of this nation’s military... or even the Imperial Guards."
"If what you say about her power is true. Do you truly believe she wouldn’t have been one of our greatest assets against Audrey when she laid waste to this very palace a few months ago?"
