The crowd couldn’t help but follow Wen Qingye’s gaze, their hearts filled with confusion. They didn’t understand why he had suddenly looked over there.
A black dot appeared in the distance. A figure, as if teleporting, was before them in an instant.
In that moment, the air crackled with terrifying explosions from the fluctuations of the person’s Primordial Qi, demonstrating their extraordinary cultivation.
The man was dressed in a purple robe with a golden coronet holding up his hair. His eyes were bloodshot as he scanned the thousands of people and roared, "Who is Wen Qingye?! I’ll flay him, rip out his tendons, and cut him into a thousand pieces!"
Su Ding’s expression changed in shock when he saw the man. He murmured, "Lim Tian... That’s Lim Tian, an Elder of the Taiyi Pavilion. A peerless master at the Life and Death Realm Third Layer Heaven."
"What? Lim Tian from the Taiyi Pavilion?" Su Qingyun was also startled to hear Su Ding’s words, and his brow furrowed deeply.
The surrounding crowd felt their hearts clench as they looked on, and their eyes couldn’t help but turn toward Wen Qingye.
Everyone could feel the newcomer’s heaven-storming aura and might. He was on a level they couldn’t even hope to match.
Wen Qingye reached out and stopped Luu Fangliang, his expression more solemn than ever before. He said in a low voice, "If we both attack, the result will be the same. You should go first. I can get away on my own."
’This person’s strength is immense,’ Wen Qingye knew. ’Even if I join forces with everyone here, I’m still not sure we could be his opponent. I’ll just have to rely on *it*. I wonder if I’ll get a chance to kill him.’
Luu Fangliang’s brow furrowed as well. He gave a serious nod and said, "Alright."
Wen Qingye nodded, took a deep breath, and walked forward, step by step.
"I am Wen Qingye! You must be Lim Tian of the Taiyi Pavilion."
Seeing Wen Qingye step forward, Lim Tian slowly calmed down. His face was grim as he said, "You dared to kill someone from my Taiyi Pavilion? You dared to kill my own disciple?"
Wen Qingye was perfectly composed as he replied coolly, "And what if I did?"
Seeing Wen Qingye’s attitude, Lim Tian flew into a rage. "Don’t think you can be lawless just because you’re a disciple of the Celestial Profound Sect! I’m telling you, even if I kill you right here in the Celestial Profound Mountain Domain, no one from your Celestial Profound Sect would dare do a thing to me! Do you believe that?"
As Lim Tian spoke, his gaze fell upon Cao Yun and Shil Tianlong. A cold glint flashed in his eyes, and a chilling killing intent shot toward Cao Yun, who instantly felt his body turn ice-cold.
"THUD!"
Cao Yun’s body fell to the ground, all signs of life gone.
The scene fell into absolute silence!
’A prodigy of the Celestial Profound Sect with limitless potential, at the Ninth Heaven of the Yin-Yang Realm, was killed just like that, without a sound. Dead, just like that. Is this the might of the Life and Death Realm? Killed with a wave of the hand... no, he didn’t even lift a finger. Is this the tyranny of the Taiyi Pavilion?’
After he finished, Lim Tian’s eyes turned back to Wen Qingye. A chill ran through the hearts of the thousands present. They could all feel the intimidation in his gaze, and none dared to even breathe loudly.
"Hahaha! Then you’re welcome to try," Wen Qingye laughed heartily, completely unfazed by Lim Tian’s oppressive aura. To be honest, there were things Wen Qingye feared, but the man before him was not one of them.
Jiekong pressed his palms together, looking at Wen Qingye with a hint of admiration. "Amitabha Buddha. Wen Qingye is truly remarkable. To still display such an extraordinary bearing in the face of Lim Tian... If he doesn’t die today, he will surely become a terrifying existence in the future."
Fangg Xin stood silently to the side. After a long moment, he shook his head helplessly.
Liu Jingwen gave a bitter smile. "Is this man a master of the Life and Death Realm?"
Pei Yuan nodded. "Mhm. That’s Lim Tian, the Elder of Tian Xufeng from the Taiyi Pavilion, a master at the Life and Death Realm Third Layer Heaven."
The members of the Jade Maiden Sect were all pale as they watched Lim Tian and Wen Qingye. The oppressive atmosphere felt almost tangible.
Seeing Wen Qingye’s defiance, the killing intent in Lim Tian’s heart flared even stronger. "A pity you won’t live to see it. Now, go die!"
Wen Qingye’s heart suddenly lurched. He felt a sharp Qi Aura flying toward his throat from the void. He couldn’t see its path at all; he only subconsciously brought his sword up to block.
"CLANG!"
In the next instant, his body was sent flying like a sheet of paper, slamming heavily into a distant mountainside. He was smashed firmly into the rock. Blood instantly drenched his entire body, and the webbing between his thumb and forefinger tore open, gushing blood.
"He’s not dead!" Lim Tian’s eyes showed some surprise, then the corner of his mouth curled into a cold, sinister smile. "Good. Then next, I’ll let you know what it means to wish you were dead."
As Lim Tian spoke, he stretched his arm out toward Wen Qingye. An immense suction force emanated from his palm. His arm suddenly seemed to become a giant black hole, pulling with all its might.
Everyone felt the extraordinary, terrifying suction. Their expressions changed in alarm as they all retreated backward.
ROAR!
Suddenly, a massive roar echoed in all directions. The clouds in the sky were blasted away, leaving the heavens clear and transparent.
An overwhelmingly powerful aura erupted, soaring into the sky at that same moment.
BOOM!
A long, phantom-like silhouette shot up from the ground toward the heavens. Its entire body glowed with blue light, and it was surrounded by billowing white smoke. Amidst the dense fog and rolling smoke, the crowd couldn’t see what was happening at all.
A moment later, within the dust and smoke, Wen Qingye’s clothes were crimson with blood, but his expression was exceptionally calm. He stood atop the head of a giant beast, which slowly revealed its form—it was the Ice Python.
"My heavens, is that a Flood Dragon?"
"What a terrifying aura! So powerful!"
"This aura... it’s definitely a Life and Death Realm Demon Beast! It’s not much weaker than my Sect’s Protective Demon Beast!"
The crowd stared at Wen Qingye, who stood upon the Ice Python against the wind, his composure like Still Water. One by one, they seemed to turn to stone.
Wen Qingye stood with his sword in one hand upon the Ice Python’s ferocious head. The Ice Python’s body coiled and spiraled as it dove toward Lim Tian.
The Ice Python flicked its massive forked tongue. The frigid air radiating from its body was like ice from the Nine Netherworld. Everyone around, with the exception of Luu Fangliang, turned deathly pale and retreated. Even Lim Tian frowned.
A fierce wind blew, making his Blood-clothed robes flutter. Shattered gold sunlight fell across his face. Wen Qingye’s brows knitted slightly, and in that moment, his bearing and aura rose to their zenith.
"Wen Qingye, do you think you can stop me with just this Life and Death Realm First Layer Heaven Demon Beast?" Lim Tian sneered at Wen Qingye.
"Then let’s give it a try!" Wen Qingye said coolly, a trace of resolve forming in his heart.
Wen Qingye’s heart was anything but calm. He knew there was still a gap between the Ice Python’s strength and Lim Tian’s. As for the gap between his own strength and Lim Tian’s, it was a bottomless chasm. The difference in their cultivation realms was simply insurmountable. But he still had to try, borrowing the Ice Python’s power.
"Then I’ll show you what true despair is!"
Lim Tian bellowed, pouring Primordial Qi into his arm. His entire arm seemed to turn red, emitting waves of intense light. Wherever the light shone, countless craters were blasted into the ground.
He threw a punch, and the very air seemed to tremble. Wen Qingye felt as if the sky was falling and the earth was cracking apart.
"ROAR!"
The Ice Python’s entire body shot toward Lim Tian. It opened its massive maw, and deep within its throat, a vortex of qi seemed to form, constantly pulling in the violent Primordial Qi from the surroundings.
The Primordial Qi continuously condensed, forming what looked like a giant, ice-blue orb. The aura was so intensely cold that even the surrounding air began to emit layers of white mist.
So cold!
The surrounding crowd retreated again and again, but even so, they felt as if they had been instantly transported from the sweltering heat of August to the dead of winter.
