Chapter 397: Ten Thousand Miles Sky

「Three days later.」

「Near Yu City in the Fenghua Ancient Country.」

"CRACK!" "CRACK!"

The Ice Python’s massive body slithered forward at incredible speed, snapping every tree in its path and filling the air with a cacophony of cracking wood.

Wen Qingye sat cross-legged on the Ice Python’s back. Though he had changed his clothes, his face remained deathly pale, and fresh bloodstains already marred the sleeves of his new robes.

The Ice Python said, "Are you alright now?"

"It’s nothing life-threatening," Wen Qingye said slowly. "My organs have realigned, but the bone fractures will take a great deal of time to heal. I need a stable environment to recover from my internal injuries."

The Ice Python said helplessly, "But that Lim Tian is still right behind us. He’s locked onto my aura, so it’ll be very difficult to escape his range."

The Ice Python hadn’t even grasped the basics of the Wind Control Skill, so its speed was significantly slower. With his incredibly high cultivation and Taiyi Pavilion’s sophisticated Body Technique, Lim Tian stayed right on their tail, preventing them from creating any real distance.

"Wen Qingye, you can run to the ends of the earth, but you’ll still die! My allies in the Mountain River Sect have already sealed off the escape route through Salt City in the Fenghua Ancient Country. There’s nowhere left for you to run, nowhere left to hide!"

Lim Tian’s voice echoed from behind them. The Ice Python ignored his words and continued to race forward.

Wen Qingye pulled out a map to examine it. ’So, the Fenghua Ancient Country really is a vassal state of the Mountain River Sect.’ He already knew that the Mountain River Sect and Taiyi Pavilion were allies. With that thought, he said to the Ice Python, "We’ll head south."

The Ice Python hesitated for a moment. "The south? Didn’t you say that was an extremely dangerous area?"

Wen Qingye shook his head, his voice heavy. "We have no choice. There are no other options left. I don’t know if more experts are waiting to ambush us along the main route, so we have to take a risk."

"I’ll do as you say." The Ice Python no longer hesitated. It wheeled its body around and charged south.

Lim Tian, chasing swiftly behind them, sneered when he saw the Ice Python change direction. But then a thought struck him. ’No, don’t tell me he’s heading for the Ten Thousand Miles Sky to cross the Purple Nether Swamp? Does that kid have a death wish?’

At that thought, Lim Tian shot forward even faster, roaring as he went.

"Wen Qingye, are you trying to get yourself killed?"

Wen Qingye, still on the Ice Python’s back, looked back at the relentlessly pursuing Lim Tian and laughed. "And if I fall into your hands, would I be allowed to live?"

Lim Tian’s face darkened as he roared, "Of course you won’t just die! I told you, if you fall into my hands, I’ll make you wish you were dead!"

His relationship with Jiang Wu was far more than that of master and disciple; in his heart, he had long considered Jiang Wu his own son. Now that Jiang Wu had been killed by Wen Qingye, how could he possibly let the man go?

Lim Tian looked at Wen Qingye’s ashen face, and killing intent flared in his eyes. The Primordial Qi in his palm condensed into a single thread that shot directly toward Wen Qingye.

BANG!

The thread struck the Ice Python’s Protective Shield and instantly dissipated.

Wen Qingye slowly rose to his feet. "Lim Tian, don’t waste your energy. From this far away, your Primordial Qi loses most of its power before it even reaches me. Trying to break the Protective Shield of a Life and Death Realm First Layer Heaven Demon Beast is just wishful thinking."

Lim Tian’s eyes were bloodshot. He roared, "Wen Qingye, I will flay you alive and pull out your tendons! I will make you beg for death! I will rip out your Primordial Spirit and subject it to endless torment!"

Wen Qingye glanced back at Lim Tian but said nothing, his gaze returning coolly to the path ahead.

Time trickled by. Lim Tian remained in hot pursuit, but he couldn’t seem to close the gap. Despite the Ice Python not knowing even the basics of the Wind Control Skill, it was still too fast for Lim Tian to catch.

In the blink of an eye, several double-hours went by.

Wen Qingye was about to leave the bounds of Yu City in the Fenghua Ancient Country. The land ahead opened up into a vast, sparsely populated expanse. A straight road stretched into the distance, its end radiating a mysterious aura.

The open space was only the beginning. Farther on, tall, lush trees began to appear, growing in dense, verdant groves.

"Where are we?" Wen Qingye frowned. He pulled out his map and studied it, a jolt of shock running through him. ’Could this be the Ten Thousand Miles Sky?’

"Should we proceed?" the Ice Python asked, sensing the shock and uncertainty in Wen Qingye’s tone.

Just then, Lim Tian closed to within a few hundred yards of them. He bellowed, "Wen Qingye, do you have any idea what lies ahead? If you take one more step forward, your chances of survival are less than one in ten! Do you believe me?"

Wen Qingye sneered. "Don’t listen to him. Go straight ahead. The Ten Thousand Miles Sky isn’t as terrifying as he claims, as long as we stay away from the Purple Nether Swamp."

The Ice Python surged forward once more, its speed increasing as it charged ahead.

Seeing Wen Qingye actually charge toward the Ten Thousand Miles Sky, Lim Tian faltered for a second before accelerating even more. "Wen Qingye, do you know that the Ten Thousand Miles Sky connects to the Purple Nether Swamp? The experts from my Taiyi Pavilion will surely be lying in wait for you there!"

The Ten Thousand Miles Sky was a massive canyon. A mysterious suppressive force seemed to exist within it—no bird could pass through, and anything capable of flight would plummet to the ground.

The massive canyon had only a single path. The dangers within the Ten Thousand Miles Sky were visible: nothing more than a massive overgrowth of Poison-Locking Vines.

The Ten Thousand Miles Sky was well-known in the Eastern Profound Domain for two reasons. First, it was genuinely treacherous. Second, it contained an entrance to the Purple Nether Swamp.

The Purple Nether Swamp was one of the four great Secret Lands of the Eastern Profound Domain. It was incredibly dangerous; even creatures like the Black Profound Snake were considered outer-perimeter Demon Beasts. The swamp was teeming with countless other Demon Beasts and crisscrossed by poisonous miasma. Not even experts of the Life and Death Realm dared to venture deep within.

"Lim Tian, your empty threats are useless! If you have the guts, then come get me! HAHAHAHA!"

Laughing, Wen Qingye didn’t hesitate for a second, ordering the Ice Python to charge straight into the Ten Thousand Miles Sky. He already had some knowledge of this place.

’Although the Poison-Locking Vines are unusual, I have the Eye of Spirit Communication.’ Wen Qingye was also well aware of their weaknesses. ’With the powerful Ice Python by my side, the Ten Thousand Miles Sky poses no real threat.’

"Wen Qingye, get back here!" Lim Tian bellowed, striking out with his palm toward the Ice Python ahead. He was clearly putting his full power into the attack.

The might of the palm strike sent tremors for miles, its Palm Qi surging like a tidal wave.

But with miles separating them, most of the Palm Qi dissipated into the air. By the time it reached Wen Qingye, it was barely a whisper of its former power.
