Wen Qingye’s injuries were currently severe. ’But what kind of wound hadn’t he endured before?’ Gritting his teeth, he jerked his sword up, and a resplendent golden light flared brilliantly. At the same time, his clothes turned an even deeper shade of crimson. His wounds had clearly burst open, soaking the fabric in fresh blood.

"Third Form of the Sword Emperor Technique! Shake the Mountains and Rivers!"

Standing atop the Ice Python, Wen Qingye’s Emperor-like aura spread out boundlessly. He gripped the One Thought Sword with both hands and slashed down. The very air seemed to split in two as a soft hum resonated from the blade.

BOOM!

The Primordial Qi collided, and the resulting sonic boom echoed in all directions. A sharp pain shot through Wen Qingye’s chest, forcing him to stumble back several steps.

That last palm strike had also cost Lim Tian a great deal of energy. To launch an attack with such lingering power from so far away was pushing the limits of his cultivation.

"Wen Qingye! Aren’t you afraid of my Taiyi Pavilion hunting you for all eternity? How about this? I’ll give you a chance to live," Lim Tian shouted, his eyes glinting with a sudden thought.

Wen Qingye chuckled. "A chance to live? What kind of chance?"

Even though Wen Qingye’s voice wasn’t loud, Lim Tian heard it carried on the wind and couldn’t suppress a surge of delight.

Lim Tian shouted back, "If you’re willing to return with me to the Taiyi Cloud Sea and kneel in penance on my Wuwang Peak for three years, we can consider the grudges between you and the Taiyi Pavilion settled. How about it?"

Hearing Lim Tian’s words, Wen Qingye couldn’t help but sneer. ’Wuwang Peak? Kneel for three years?’

"That’s right, just three years. After three years, you’ll be free to leave or stay as you please. I could even let you join the Taiyi Pavilion. What do you say?" Lim Tian added hastily, seeing the Ice Python was about to charge into Heaven’s Edge.

Wen Qingye gave a faint smile. "Lim Tian, how about this instead? Have everyone from your Taiyi Pavilion kneel before me for three years. In return, I’ll let bygones be bygones and grant you a path to survival. What do you think?"

Lim Tian’s expression soured as he realized Wen Qingye was just toying with him. "Wen Qingye," he roared, "you’re courting death!"

"Lim Tian, stop spouting nonsense," Wen Qingye said with a laugh, seeming to have regained some of his strength. "I suggest you wash your neck and wait. The next time we meet, you will die."

Lim Tian was about to retort, but he saw that the Ice Python had already reached the entrance to Heaven’s Edge. His brows furrowed deeply, and he halted his pursuit.

Just like that, the Ice Python’s massive form vanished from Lim Tian’s sight.

About the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, three experts rushed over—two at the Peak of Destruction Realm and one at the Life and Death Realm First Layer Heaven. They arrived in a fluster, clearly having traveled at top speed. The three walked respectfully before Lim Tian and said in unison, "Elder Lim, what are your orders?"

Lim Tian smiled coldly. "Wen Qingye has entered the Ten Thousand Miles Sky. You three will wait here. The Ten Thousand Miles Sky has only two exits. I’ll go to the other one and lie in wait. Hmph. Let’s see him escape this time. He’ll have nowhere to run."

The three nodded. "Yes, Elder Lim. We of the Fenghua Ancient Country will not fail. If Wen Qingye turns back, we will certainly slay him on behalf of the Upper Sect."

Lim Tian nodded. Then, his figure shot up into the sky and sped toward the other end of the Ten Thousand Miles Sky.

......

The mountain ranges on either side were so high their peaks were lost to sight, leaving only a long, narrow, seemingly endless road between them. While it appeared narrow, the path was a full twenty zhang wide upon entering.

Besides being extremely long and narrow, the environment within the Ten Thousand Miles Sky was also treacherous and complex. Many experts who ventured deep inside had met with mysterious deaths. It was even home to Demon Beasts that had escaped from the Purple Nether Swamp.

The Ice Python plunged into the Ten Thousand Miles Sky. Its body was immediately subjected to a strange suppressive force. And though it used its Wind Control Skill, its slithering speed along the ground remained incredibly fast.

"Lim Tian’s aura has vanished," the Ice Python said suddenly.

"’Vanished?’ Wen Qingye mused. ’If we turn back now, we might walk right into an ambush. He could be waiting for us where we entered, or he could be at the exit up ahead.’"

"Then what should we do?" the Ice Python asked, confused.

"We keep moving forward," Wen Qingye said, gazing ahead. "If we turn back now and he’s lying in ambush, we’ll both die. But if he’s waiting at the exit, we might still have a slim chance of survival."

The chance of survival Wen Qingye spoke of was, naturally, the Purple Nether Swamp.

Hearing Wen Qingye’s words, the Ice Python’s body became a blur as it raced deeper into the Ten Thousand Miles Sky.

Wen Qingye let out a sigh of relief, then slowly lowered himself into a cross-legged position.

PTUI!

A mouthful of crimson blood sprayed out, splattering across the Ice Python’s back. Only then did some color return to Wen Qingye’s pale face.

The Ice Python came to a halt, stopping beside a large rock.

"Are you alright?" the Ice Python asked.

Wen Qingye shook his head, a trickle of blood flowing from the corner of his mouth. A wave of exhaustion washed over him.

"All of my meridians are blocked. Right now, only a few of the main ones are still clear. It will take a great deal of time to unblock the rest. As for my internal injuries, thanks to my physique and the power of the Longevity Technique, I should be better in less than a month."

The Ice Python said in astonishment, "What? Your injuries are that severe? The human body has a complex network of one hundred and eight meridians, both Hidden Veins and visible ones. You only have a few left? Can you even use your Magic Techniques right now?"

Wen Qingye gave a bitter smile and nodded. "It will take time, but my strength will recover. My Longevity Technique can circulate with just a single meridian. Besides, Lim Tian’s cultivation is simply far too high above my own. If I hadn’t practiced the Five Elements Body Refining Technique, I’d probably be a corpse by now."

"That’s true." The Ice Python knew full well how powerful Wen Qingye’s body was. When it was at a similar level of cultivation, its own physical strength had been comparable to his.

Before they knew it, night had quietly fallen.

Wen Qingye looked up at the dark night sky and said softly, "Let’s rest here for a bit. I don’t think Lim Tian is still chasing us."

"Good. That will give you time to recover from your injuries," the Ice Python said with a nod, its body already still.

Sitting cross-legged atop the Ice Python’s head, Wen Qingye began to circulate his Longevity Technique. As his cultivation had improved, the true power of the Dao of Longevity was gradually beginning to reveal itself.

An ordinary person with such injuries would need half a year to recover, even with the help of Spirit-Grade Pills. Yet Wen Qingye had already regained his mobility.

He took out the Blood Profound Turtle’s Profound Pearl, and as he circulated his Longevity Technique, violent streams of Primordial Qi surged madly toward his Qi Sea. After a moment, the Primordial Qi in the immediate vicinity seemed to have been completely drained, but boundless energy from further away rushed in to fill the void he created.
