The Ice Python watched the surrounding Primordial Qi ebb and flow, utterly shocked. Even though it had seen Wen Qingye cultivate before, it was still astonished. The speed at which this Magic Technique absorbed Primordial Qi was simply too domineering.
The Primordial Qi continuously gathered, surging through the meridians in Wen Qingye’s body. In a single night, he had managed to clear two more. Combined with the seven that were already intact, nine of his one hundred and eight meridians were now open.
Several double-hours passed. The sky turned the color of a fish’s belly as the morning light shone into the Ten Thousand Miles Sky.
Wen Qingye’s eyes slowly opened, and he gazed ahead.
"How are your injuries?" the Ice Python asked.
Wen Qingye shook his head. "It’s only been one night. They’re still far from healed. But as long as I have time, I think they’ll improve."
"I see. What’s the plan now?" the Ice Python asked.
Wen Qingye’s brow furrowed as he stared grimly ahead. "The main thing right now is to evade Lim Tian’s pursuit. Hopefully, he won’t be waiting to block us at the exit. If he’s not, we can head straight back to the Celestial Profound Mountain Domain."
"And what if..."
Wen Qingye’s tone became firm, and he said with a casual air, "If he blocks us, we’ll just have to cross the Purple Nether Swamp."
The Ice Python sighed. "I suppose that’s our only choice. I am no match for that Taiyi Pavilion Elder."
"Right. Once we’re back in the Celestial Profound Sect, I believe Lim Tian of the Taiyi Pavilion will have to be more cautious. Things will be much better by then," Wen Qingye said, pausing. He thought for a moment before continuing, "Then, I’ll find the Taiyi Pavilion’s mole within the Celestial Profound Sect and try to use the sect’s power to resist them, or at least find temporary refuge under its protection. Besides that, this will be a good time to eradicate the Heaven-Burying Sect, one of Taiyi Pavilion’s subsidiary powers."
"It seems you’ve already thought everything through. That’s a relief," the Ice Python said with a nod.
Wen Qingye replied, "Yes. The only thing that matters now is getting out of here."
The Ice Python gathered its massive body, raised its head high, and shot forward again, shattering the loose rocks in its path.
Wen Qingye sat cross-legged on the Ice Python’s back, continuing to mend his injuries.
Suddenly!
Just as the Ice Python was sliding forward at high speed, a tiny black speck suddenly shot toward them like a sharp spike.
SHING!
The One Thought Sword flew from its sheath and struck the black glint, instantly producing a spray of sparks with a sharp CRACKLE.
Wen Qingye felt a powerful recoil. The force was so strong it nearly threw him backward and sent him tumbling off the python.
Seeing several black grains of sand land on the Ice Python’s back, Wen Qingye couldn’t help but frown. ’Is this... Dark Star Sand?’
Dark Star Sand was an extremely peculiar type of sandstorm. Its grains were like tiny black stones, incredibly hard. When whipped up by the wind, they became like incomparably sharp black spikes, capable of easily piercing a Treasure Armor Spiritual Artifact at the Peak of King Grade.
SWOOSH! SWOOSH!
The next moment, several more black spikes shot toward them from the front, streaking through the air like rapid-fire meteors.
Seeing this, Wen Qingye’s sword became a blur. A cold light flashed continuously, as if his blade were painting countless flowers in the air.
PFFT! PFFT! PFFT! PFFT!...
Wen Qingye’s Swordsmanship and perception were extraordinary. He easily deflected the incoming streams of Dark Star Sand, but their powerful impact still made his body begin to tremble.
When the Dark Star Sand struck the Ice Python’s body, however, it was like sand hitting a boulder; the grains simply bounced off.
Seeing this, the Ice Python flicked its tongue and increased its speed, surging forward once more.
Before long, however, what looked like a black tidal wave rose up before them.
On closer inspection, it wasn’t a black tidal wave at all—it was a veritable tsunami of Dark Star Sand! Countless grains swarmed toward Wen Qingye, blotting out the sky.
"Can you handle this?" the Ice Python couldn’t help but ask, worried.
Wen Qingye laughed carefreely. "Hahaha, of course I can!"
With that, the One Thought Sword in his hand unleashed a golden Sword Aura that raged forward, instantly scattering countless grains of Dark Star Sand and creating a vacuum in its wake.
The attack instantly drained Wen Qingye of his Primordial Qi. However, a Profound Pearl from a Blood Profound Turtle immediately appeared in his hand, and an immense tide of Primordial Qi surged madly toward his Qi Sea.
Wen Qingye immediately unleashed another Sword Aura. The brilliant golden light danced through the air, colliding violently with the Dark Star Sand.
Sparks flew across the sky, dazzlingly bright.
Whenever Wen Qingye’s Qi Sea was depleted of Primordial Qi, the Primordial Qi Essence within the Profound Pearl would madly pour in to replenish it. Only the Primordial Qi from a Blood Profound Turtle’s Profound Pearl was so pure and vast that it could directly channel such a massive amount of its source into his Qi Sea.
Ordinary Primordial Stones would require the energy to circulate through the body before reaching the Qi Sea, and they couldn’t provide nearly as much Primordial Qi.
Gradually, beads of sweat appeared on Wen Qingye’s forehead. The movements of his sword slowed considerably as the waves of Dark Star Sand came one after another.
PSHIK!
With a ripping sound, Wen Qingye’s clothes were torn. The Dark Star Sand had pierced through the fabric, revealing a bloody scratch.
Following that, more and more grains of Dark Star Sand tore through to Wen Qingye’s skin, but none managed to penetrate deep into his body.
It was because whenever a grain of Dark Star Sand was about to break through his skin, a four-colored light would flash from beneath, blocking it from going any deeper. That was why the sand could only pierce the surface of his flesh.
The Ice Python said in relief, "It’s a good thing you practice a Body Refining Magic Technique. Otherwise, you’d have died who knows how many times over by now."
If an ordinary Destruction Realm Martial Artist tried to cross the Ten Thousand Miles Sky, they would have likely been devoured by this endless storm of Dark Star Sand by now.
"By the way, is the 5th Layer of your Body Refining Magic Technique its limit?"
Wen Qingye continued to swing his sword as he shook his head. "This Five Elements Body Refining Technique is extremely difficult to cultivate. The 7th Layer is its true limit. Reaching the 6th Layer requires a Heavenly and Earthly Treasure that combines all Five Elements, and breaking through to the 7th Layer requires an Immortal-grade Heavenly and Earthly Treasure."
The Ice Python nodded, its curiosity about Wen Qingye growing. A Cultivation Technique that required an Immortal-grade Heavenly and Earthly Treasure to advance—needless to say, its power upon mastery would be unfathomable. The Ice Python was naturally astounded that Wen Qingye possessed such a powerful Cultivation Method.
More and more Dark Star Sand flew toward them. The number of cuts on Wen Qingye’s body multiplied. Although they were only superficial wounds, he still felt waves of pain.
