Mystic Calling:Stone of Glory

Chapter 1317: A Birth Without Allegiance

Vexara didn’t bother to swing the cannon around.

She’d already confirmed Ethan was still there.

She didn’t know why he hadn’t moved, but scent didn’t lie.

Go.

My children.

The red laser punched cleanly through that area and kept going, climbing higher. It tore open the ceiling of the nest, drilling through layers of flesh and steel until it finally speared up into the surface world.

And up on the ground, the fight was already nearing its end.

Seraphine forced Primordial Death Energy and Light Force into Azmekar’s body at the same time.

Death and light spread through the mechanical structure like twin infections.

But Azmekar didn’t have Seraphine’s gift for controlling both.

The moment the two opposing forces entered, they split along different pathways, both racing for the core. Azmekar tried to vent them, but the energies had already sunk into its armor, its tentacles, and its internal framework.

The harder it tried to expel them, the faster its body fell apart.

Cracks spidered across metal.

Red and gold light alternated as they blasted out through the seams.

"I don’t want to die!" Azmekar’s voice had lost all its earlier composure.

"You just wait—!"

The power inside it completely ran wild.

Seraphine threw up a shield, wrapping everyone under Light Force.

Azmekar’s eruption smashed into the golden barrier head-on. The shockwave tore across the ground, sweeping mechanical insects and gray-black soil together into the air, while the group stayed safe inside the shield.

When the energy finally calmed a little, they saw it—

A red laser blasting up from underground.

They’d been searching for a way down.

All the cave mouths around them had been sealed again, flesh and steel knitting the entrances shut. Kaelira was just about to gather power to blast through the ground by force...

When the laser carved a straight, perfect path for them instead.

Underground, Vexara kept unloading on the "Ethan" above—relentless, merciless.

She trusted the scent her swarm had gathered.

And she trusted the locked position it led her to.

But the real Ethan had already left.

You didn’t seriously think I came down here just to fight you, right?

Ethan moved without sound above the sea of mechanical eggs.

Below him, egg after egg—stretching farther than the eye could track—shuddered faintly.

Power condensed rapidly in his palm.

He dropped.

As he neared the floor, he raised his hand and slammed the white energy sphere straight into the ground.

BOOM!

The force didn’t just blow upward.

White lightning raced outward through the nest’s flesh-and-steel structure, following the channels that connected the eggs—piercing into every single shell.

In the distance, Vexara sensed the change. Confusion flashed across her face.

When had Ethan gotten over there?

But she recovered almost immediately.

Not only did she not stop him—she gave a cold little laugh, pretending she hadn’t noticed a thing.

Those eggs needed energy to be fed in the first place.

If Ethan wanted to deliver it himself, she ought to thank him.

Ethan noticed she wasn’t closing in.

That made his skin crawl.

But the eggs were already changing.

The first egg split open.

The shell peeled apart to either side, and a snow-white dinosaur crawled out. Its body was still threaded with mechanical structure, but its eyes didn’t carry Azmekar’s glaring blood-red glow.

Then the second egg opened.

Then the third.

More and more white mechanical dinosaurs poured into the nest.

Ethan watched them, his confusion deepening—

And yet the energy kept streaming out of his hand.

Not because he refused to stop.

Because he couldn’t.

These newborns were pulling.

White power was being drawn from every direction, tugging along Ethan’s arm and ripping outward. Each newly born dinosaur opened its mouth and drank in the lightning spreading through the nest.

Ethan finally understood why Vexara had left the mechanical egg behind and walked away so casually.

These things’ hunger for energy was insane.

"Oh?" Vexara’s voice floated from behind him.

"Out of strength already?"

"Getting tired?"

She walked toward Ethan at an unhurried pace.

Her mechanical wings had folded away, but her three-pronged tail still swayed lightly behind her. The white mechanical dinosaurs kept feeding, and the power Ethan could still command was nearly drained dry.

Vexara stopped at his side.

Her tail brushed past him, almost gentle.

Looking at the young man who could barely even form energy again, she shook her head like she was disappointed.

A sharp whoosh of air cut through from above.

A group of people dropped down the straight tunnel the red laser had drilled.

Ataneya saw Ethan first—surrounded by white dinosaurs, clearly in bad shape.

All twenty-four fox tails burst open behind her and whipped across the egg field, snapping straight toward Vexara.

Phoenix Queen Ignara turned into a line of scorching firelight and shot straight for Ethan.

Vexara looked up at the group falling through the opening, her mechanical eyes calm—no panic at all.

She flicked both foreclaws.

Hidden between the walls and the egg racks, small War Machines shot out. In midair they disassembled and reassembled, metal plates biting together, cores lining up at fixed intervals, until a layered, interlocking formation shield snapped into place.

Ataneya’s tails arrived.

The first wave cracked into the shield’s front, denting the metal surface inward. The second followed right behind, wrapping from above and below to squeeze the edges. Force rippled across the array, shaking nearby eggs so hard they wobbled.

Vexara stood at the center of the defense and slowly closed her eyes.

She opened her mouth. Deep in her throat, a strange vibration began.

The sound wasn’t piercing, but it traveled—through steel walls and flesh corridors—spreading outward like a signal.

The scattered white mechanical dinosaurs all lifted their heads at once.

They stood with eerie uniformity, mechanical eyes turning toward Vexara. Then they started walking, converging on their "mother" from every direction.

Ataneya kept tightening her tails.

One by one, they looped around the formation shield and linked end to end, shaping a circular cage—fully enclosing Vexara and the War Machines inside.

On the other side, Phoenix Queen Ignara had already caught Ethan as his strength failed.

Flames supported his body beneath her wings, carrying him steadily to Feylora’s side. Once he was safe, Ignara turned back, spreading her wings as fire ran along each feather, staring hard at Vexara inside the fox-tail prison.

Feylora immediately pressed both hands to Ethan’s chest.

Green energy flowed into him, moving slowly through the energy channels that were nearly exhausted, replenishing him bit by bit.

Meanwhile, the white mechanical dinosaurs kept closing in.

The first few that rushed the cage were whipped back by Ataneya’s tails, rolling into the egg field. But the moment they hit the ground, they stood back up—

And each of them now had a thin, newly grown mechanical "tail."

That fresh tail stabbed into the ground, helping the body pivot and change approach.

They avoided the angle that had just been punished and charged Vexara again.

Ataneya’s tails snapped to adjust, batting them away again.

After the second failure, the white dinosaurs didn’t slow.

Armor plates shifted. Limb joints changed length. The mechanical tails split, reshaping into different forms. They reconfigured themselves based on what they’d just suffered, then lunged for the same point again.

Once.

Twice.

More white dinosaurs crawled up from the ground.

Every time they were thrown back, they returned in a new shape—one better suited to breaking through—marching back toward the "error" that had beaten them.

The problem became obvious fast.

These mechanical dinosaurs were adapting.

Evolving.

Ataneya felt it too, but she still didn’t retract her tails.

The circular cage had already tightened by more than half. If she held a little longer, she could truly lock Vexara down.

"Just a little more..."

Beside Feylora, Ethan’s eyes fluttered open.

The first thing he saw was the white mechanical dinosaurs, bodies changing again and again as they repeatedly slammed into the fox tails.

Ataneya was still trying to force it through.

But the more those things failed, the harder the next attempt became to stop.

"Ataneya—open it!"

Ethan pushed himself up.

"I’ve got this!"

Before anyone could argue, he jumped down from beside Feylora.

He slipped through the gaps between his companions and landed in the middle of the egg field.

Nearby, the white dinosaurs immediately turned their heads.

The group braced, expecting them to lunge for Ethan—

But instead of biting, those mechanical creatures padded closer and rubbed against his legs, almost affectionate.

One of them even flopped down at his feet, craning its head up like it was waiting to be petted.
