Shin just chuckled. It seemed he was being underestimated again.
If this guy knew he’d already scared off a God-King in this world, would he die of fright on the spot?
"You’ve got a lot of nerve," Shin said slowly. "You know I already dealt with that Jela fellow, yet you still came. I’d really rather not kill anyone else today. Don’t you enjoy being alive?"
A murderous aura began to emanate from him. His morning had been going so well, and now this had to happen. It was genuinely annoying.
Meanwhile, the butler and Lucy stared at the figure and whispered in shock, "That’s Rujie, one of the King’s Four Heavenly Kings. He’s one of the strongest."
"Even if you defeated Jela, Rujie’s power isn’t on the same level at all."
Shin found himself more and more interested in this Rujie. "If that’s the case, then I understand," he said slowly.
"But it’s a shame. While there are many strong people in this world, there are also quite a few... no, that’s not right. There are very few."
The figure seemed to fly into a rage. Shin was confused. All he did was say a few words, and now this guy was glaring at him like he’d committed some grave offense.
Truly bizarre.
"I’ll kill you! How dare you challenge our king!!"
Shin was speechless. Why did villains always have so much to say? He stopped engaging and sat down where Lucy had been, starting to eat her leftover food.
Lucy’s face instantly turned bright red. She never thought Shin would be so forward, but now really wasn’t the time for that.
Rujie was completely enraged.
"You only got lucky with Jela... You must have a trump card, right?"
"But don’t think for a second I don’t have my own."
He vanished in an instant, and a massive magic circle appeared in his place.
Shin’s nonchalant attitude finally evaporated. "So, you want to play? Then I’ll play along."
<Bankai: Invincible Thunder!>
Shin didn’t feel like showing off anymore, so he directly unleashed his Zanpakutō. This was his blade with the highest attack power, his go-to for taking out the trash. Anyone who crossed him could be dealt with by this blade.
In an instant, Shin transformed into a bolt of lightning, an untouchable force.
When the shadow came into contact with him, it was instantly blocked by a massive surge of electricity.
At that moment, Shin realized something—this person wasn’t that strong at all. To be called one of the Four Heavenly Kings, he was far too weak. He was just a bit stronger than Jela; he shouldn’t be this arrogant.
That’s when he sensed someone else, hidden in the shadows.
"I see it now. No wonder you’re so cocky. You’ve got help."
As Shin spoke, another shadow appeared.
"You’re worthy of being the one who defeated Jela. We’re impressed. But the king has given his order, so you’ll have to face the two of us now."
"We are the third and fourth of the Four Heavenly Kings. And Shin, I’m aware of your blade’s peculiar nature. It seems even stronger than it was that day."
Shin finally looked at them with confusion. "How do you know about that day? Were you up to something then? Or were you at the scene?"
"But why didn’t you show yourself? Why didn’t you help Jela?"
The figure gave a slow smile. "The king knew that kind of person was unreliable. Our emperor is actually quite reasonable."
"Since you seem to fancy this little girl, the king is willing to give her to you."
"We are the king’s personal guard. Our words are the king’s words. You can rest assured on that matter."
"I know you might find it hard to believe me, but if you don’t, there’s nothing I can do."
"The king values your strength. If you join forces with him, you could have not just this empire, but the entire world."
Shin chuckled but said nothing.
These two were living in their own little world, completely clueless, and still chattering away.
They talked about defeating the Black Dragon—Acnologia. Because of Shin’s previous battle with a god, he had already sensed Acnologia’s aura.
While Acnologia wasn’t as strong as a God-King, he was far more powerful than some mere God of Death.
And Zeref’s curse was so powerful that even a god couldn’t harm his body. This meant the curse was incredibly potent.
So, a god was stronger than Zeref, but as Shin now understood, if Zeref was unkillable, then he was beyond the reach of a God of Death.
An average God of Death could definitely be defeated by Zeref and Acnologia.
Yet this thing was just blabbering on, spouting nonsense.
Saying they could surpass the Black Dragon. He could already feel it. If a God of Death was a mid-tier god, then in this world, only the Black Dragon and Zeref could reach that level.
He finally spoke slowly. "I’ve heard everything you have to say. Can you stop talking about the Black Dragon and all that?"
"I’m telling you now, I will never submit to your king."
But this sentence infuriated the two figures.
"You had a golden opportunity, but you chose the path to hell. The king has already said, if you refuse, you can be eliminated."
Just as Shin registered his surprise, the two shadows transformed into something tangible.
A shrill scream pierced the air.
