Shin was completely bewildered. What in the world was going on?

The two of them had fused together—something he hadn't seen coming at all. The resulting creature was bizarre. Still, Shin had seen stranger things. He'd seen Orochimaru. This was weird, but manageable.

"So, you fused," he said slowly. "Does this really make a difference?"

"But since the king sent you two here to die, I guess you can't blame me for being ruthless."

Shin was done with these people. Acting all high and mighty in front of him? He wasn't having it.

He sized up the two fused shadows.

"This level of power… I suppose it's enough to make me use some of my full strength."

"My Bankai is more than enough to deal with you. But you should know, just because you showed up doesn't mean you get to leave."

"Now, let me show you what real power looks like."

"Hollowfication."

Even Shin at his most basic level of Hollowfication was still a Vasto Lorde. With that kind of power, defeating these two would be no problem at all.

The butler, though not a mage, had seen his fair share of the world. "Amalgamation… a magic that fuses two people into one. Once combined, they can never be separated again!"

"Unless the one who cast it is also a black mage. It must be the king! He actually taught them such a powerful spell."

"Brother Shin, you must be careful! I feel like this is incredibly risky!"

Shin was speechless. These two weren't even his opponents, but one was acting in his best interest, while the other had sacrificed his individuality for power, merging with someone else to become this monster.

It seemed he could no longer hold back.

This was his strongest combat form at the moment, and he couldn't use his other abilities. If the other two Heavenly Kings showed up and fused as well, even he would be in deep trouble.

It wasn't that he was afraid of them, but sometimes you had to use your head. He could easily defeat them, but if he got cocky, he might get blindsided. He thought of Vegeta in Dragon Ball, always thinking he was invincible right before getting utterly destroyed.

Shin wasn't about to make the same mistake.

He addressed the two fused figures. "I have to admit, I underestimated you. I didn't think you had a move like this. I'm genuinely surprised."

"But to me, it's nothing."

"Go on, make your move. Stop just sitting there. Come and attack me."

The black shadow chuckled. "What's the hurry? So eager to die? I think I'll make you wait. Don't you know?"

"This form is a disgrace to us. But we have to do this."

"To obtain even greater magic. With this, we'll be invincible."

"And you… you actually dare to challenge His Majesty?"

Shin was speechless. He was starting to realize these guys just loved to run their mouths.

They were all talk, no action. Without paying any mind to their surprised expressions, he said:

"If you're not going to attack first, then I will."

"Myriad Thunder!"

A blinding flash of light streaked across the sky. Shin moved, charging toward the black shadow with the speed of lightning.

But the shadow was no pushover. It produced a strange-looking staff and slammed it against Shin's blade.

Only then did Shin get a rough idea of the shadow's full power.

It wasn't overwhelmingly strong—about two-thirds of his own strength. It looked like this was going to be a real fight.

Without a significant power advantage, and with his limited moveset, he was actually at a disadvantage.

He began to move rapidly, his blade a blur, while the shadow continuously dodged…

"You're really starting to get on my nerves. I thought you were something special, but it turns out this is all you've got."

"But you should be proud. You'll be the first to die at our hands. We'll use you to test our new form. From what I can see, you're no match for us. You might as well surrender now and save yourself the trouble."

Shin had never seen such arrogance. "Since you've said that," he said slowly, "I can't let either of you live."

"Lucy, Butler, today I'll let you see what I'm truly capable of."

"Sage Mode, activate!"

Instantly, Shin's surroundings were flooded with energy.

"Sage Art: Great Thunder Rasenshuriken!"

This was a jutsu of Shin's own creation. He hurled it forward.

The black shadow knew this attack would take some effort to block.

"Black Magic: Blackened World!"

"Black Shield!"

After a tense moment, the shadow finally managed to nullify Shin's attack, letting out a sigh of relief.

"Your move is powerful, but you can't use it many times, can you? We can still block it. Let's see what else you've got."

"If you can't do anything to us, then the king's army and the other two Heavenly Kings are waiting for you."

"You'd better be careful."

"Hahahahaha, let's see what you can do now."

Shin sighed. He really didn't want to waste another word on this moron. "Who told you that was a special move?"

"That was just a basic attack."

The shadow didn't understand what Shin was talking about, but in the next second, it seemed to grasp the meaning of a "basic attack."

He saw hundreds of identical Rasenshurikens flying toward him. The shadow was completely stunned. What was happening?

All it could do was raise its shield.

Lucy, watching from the side, giggled. "Yay, Brother Shin is so amazing! I want to be your girlfriend!"

As one might expect, the black shadow was blasted to smithereens by Shin.
