Kazuki bowed his head slightly. "I accept your generous offer, Lord Fugaku. Thank you for this opportunity."

Fugaku nodded, his expression remaining as stern as ever. "Before you leave, there is one more thing."

Kazuki looked up. "Yes?"

"You may be the runner-up of the Chunin exams, but I want to see how strong you are with my own eyes," Fugaku said, leaning forward slightly. "How about a spar with Itachi? Are you up for that?"

Kazuki thought for a little, no expression on his face. "I would be honored to spar with him."

"Good. Come here tomorrow morning. I will see how capable you are," Fugaku said.

"Understood, Lord Fugaku," Kazuki said. He bowed deeply and slid the door open, leaving the office.

On his way back home, Kazuki walked slowly through the compound, his mind racing with possibilities.

He thought, 'What should I do now? I'm officially going to be part of the clan meetings. I can actually prevent both the coup and the Uchiha massacre if I just save Shisui from dying.'

His brow furrowed deeply. 'But for that to happen, I would have to join them and gain their trust. And what would happen if I actually prevent the massacre?'

He looked down at his hands and thought. 'If that happens, my knowledge of the story wouldn't be of much help anymore, everything would change.'

But then he thought of all the lives that would be lost. He remembered the blood in the bandit camp and the fear he felt when Yuki was almost killed. He thought of the Uchiha compound and all the people living their daily lives around him.

Then he thought of Itachi and Sasuke. None of them deserved all that suffering.

'I can't just let them die,' Kazuki realized, his eyes filled with determination. 'Now that I live in this world, I don't think of these people as just characters or NPCs anymore. They are real.'

He clenched his fists. 'I've decided. I will do everything I can to prevent the massacre from happening. I will take every precaution so that nothing bad happens.'

Continuing his walk, Kazuki realized he was quite hungry. He decided to stop at Ichiraku to eat the ramen after a long time. He walked in and took a seat at the counter.

He let out a soft sigh as he thought, 'It's a shame that Yuki and Ryuma couldn't come with me today. They both said they had something important to do. Well, whatever.'

Teuchi looked up from behind the counter and smiled warmly. "Hey, Kazuki! It's been a while since you've come around here."

"Yeah, I've been pretty busy, old man. Give me the usual," Kazuki said, managing a smile.

Kazuki looked behind the counter and saw a young girl around his age.

He said, "Is that your daughter, old man?"

Teuchi looked up and said, "Yeah, she started helping me with the shop around a month ago."

Kazuki thought, 'These two people might be the kindest people in the village, they were one of the only people who never treated Naruto like a monster.'

Teuchi started preparing the ramen. "You were in Iwagakure for the Chunin exams, weren't you? Did you qualify?"

Kazuki replied, "Well, the exams are over, but Lord Hokage will review the final reports and then decide if we become chunin or not. I was the runner-up in the finals, so I'm pretty sure I'll become a chunin."

Teuchi smiled slightly. "That's amazing! Congratulations, kiddo. Here, let me add some extra pork on the house to celebrate."

"Thanks, old man," Kazuki said.

He quickly finished his delicious ramen, paid for his meal, and left the shop feeling much better.

By the time Kazuki reached just outside his home, it was already early evening.

As he approached his door, his passive sensory ability suddenly picked up something inside his room.

Kazuki stopped in his tracks, his eyes narrowing. 'Three chakra signatures are inside my apartment. And they have high chakra as well.'

He instinctually reached for his weapon pouch. 'Are they from the root? Did Danzo finally make his move?'

Kazuki sensed it closely, and the tension in his shoulders vanished, a smile appeared on his face. He recognized the warm, familiar chakras immediately.

'Did they actually remember?' Kazuki thought, chuckling softly to himself. 'I thought they had forgotten. Man, this sensory ability can be a pain sometimes. It completely ruined their surprise.'

Kazuki twisted the doorknob and pushed the door open, entering the room.

"SURPRISE!"

Kazuki was hit by a sudden burst of noise. He looked around and saw that his usually dark and cramped room was brightly decorated. Right in the middle of the room, on his small table, sat a beautifully frosted cake.

Standing around the table were Yuki, Ryuma, and Akari. As soon as they saw Kazuki, they wished him a happy birthday in unison.

"Happy eleventh birthday, Kazuki."

Kazuki quickly forced his eyes to widen, acting a little shocked to play along, before letting a genuine, bright smile break across his face.

"You guys," Kazuki said, his voice softening as a slight blush appeared on his face. "Thank you so much for this. I can't believe you remembered."

"Of course we remembered, you idiot," Yuki said, crossing her arms with a bright smile. "That's why we were 'busy' earlier."

"Yeah, we've been setting this up for hours," Ryuma added, with a slight smile.

Akari clapped her hands together playfully. "Alright, alright, enough talking! Let's cut the cake now."

Kazuki laughed, feeling a warmth in his chest that he hadn't felt in a very long time. He walked over to the table, and surrounded by his team, they celebrated his birthday.
