Karn steadied himself and continued searching through the library, this time looking for information on cultivation techniques. If he could understand how other techniques functioned, perhaps he could uncover more secrets about his own.
After some searching, he came across a book titled ’Cultivation Techniques Emporium’.
Judging by the records within, the book had been compiled relatively recently. That made it particularly valuable to Karn. Most of the historical texts he had read were filled with conflicting accounts, but this book appeared to contain the most up-to-date information available in the sect.
Karn picked it up and returned to his reading area.
As he flipped through the pages, countless cultivation techniques appeared before him. Each was accompanied by information regarding its origin, cultivation requirements, and the Dao it followed.
Eventually, Karn came across two familiar names. Meteor Dragon Cultivation Technique and Old Man’s Cultivation Technique. His fingers paused as he read the descriptions.
The Meteor Dragon Cultivation Technique was listed as a Black-Rank technique belonging to the Dragon Meteor Sect. It followed the Fire Path and required abundant Yang Qi to cultivate.
Karn then turned to the description of his own technique. The Old Man’s Cultivation Technique had been created by a cultivator known as the Supreme Old Ghost hundreds of years ago.
The records painted a rather unpleasant picture of its creator. He was widely regarded as a demonic cultivator who cared little for human life. According to the accounts, the Supreme Old Ghost had suffered a shattered dantian during his early years. Rather than accepting his declining cultivation and lifespan, he had somehow managed to restore his dantian.
It was during this period that he created the Old Man’s Cultivation Technique. The technique was supposedly designed to compensate for the weaknesses of an aging cultivator, particularly their declining Yang energy and limited lifespan.
’So this technique really was created for an old man.’ Karn’s eyebrows rose slightly.
’Is the Dao of Time required to extend lifespan then?’ He scratched his beard thoughtfully.
Karn continued searching for information about the Heavenless Shadow Cultivation Technique. There was nothing, not a single cultivation technique bearing that name appeared in the book.
Karn frowned and searched through several other texts. The result was the same. The Heavenless Shadow Cultivation Technique seemed to have been completely erased from the records of the Dragon Meteor Sect.
Even stranger was what he discovered when he searched for information regarding the Human Path. Across all the books he had read, there was only a single word associated with it. Forbidden.
’How intimidating.’ Karn stared at the word for several moments.
’But Rei should be fine.’ His lips curled into a faint smile. If the technique truly proved to be dangerous, he would simply have her abandon it and cultivate something else. There was no reason to risk his disciple’s life over a single cultivation technique.
’Koko... I’ll just have to keep an eye on her.’ Having gathered most of the information he needed from the first floor, Karn finally closed the book.
He rose from his seat and made his way toward the staircase. At the top of the stairs stood a massive billboard. A single word had been carved into it. YELLOW.
’So the second floor is where the Yellow-Rank techniques are kept.’ Karn raised an eyebrow. He stepped onto the staircase, a faint smile appearing on his face.
If the first floor had already given him this much information, Karn was curious what secrets awaited him upstairs.
The Yellow rank floor was much smaller compared to the floor below but each technique here was a Yellow-Rank martial technique. This floor was exclusively used by Tier Two Inner Sect disciples.
Many inner sect disciples who saw Karn bowed in respect to his elder status. Karn walked between the shelves, finding many familiar techniques like the one he had used many times.
Fire Fist Martial Art or the Myriad Mirror Technique.
The stone skin martial technique or the Heavenly Thief Technique were not present but that was not surprising as they were Black Rank techniques according to the system.
As Karn made his way around the bookshelves he found a technique that interested him. A system window immediately appeared.
Temporal Slash Martial Art

Description: A martial technique that allows the cultivator to imprint a fragment of the River of Time onto their attack. Upon release, the slash temporarily accelerates the flow of time along its trajectory, allowing it to reach its target faster than the eye can perceive.
’What a unique technique.’ Karn thought as he learned the technique using the system. As his fifth martial technique was learned a different system prompt appeared.

He had assumed that the System would allow him to learn as many martial techniques as he wanted. Apparently, he had been wrong.
He picked up another manual and attempted to learn it.

Karn found another martial technique that resonated with his understanding of the Time Dao.
Rewind Martial Technique

Description: A martial technique that imprints the cultivator’s current physical state upon the River of Time. Upon activation, a temporal anchor will be created and the cultivator may rewind their body to the state it possessed when the anchor was prepared, restoring injuries and physical damage accumulated afterward.
Limitation: The temporal imprint lasts for only one hour. The technique cannot restore lost cultivation, replenish Qi, or revive the dead. The greater the difference between the current state and the recorded state, the greater the Qi required.
Karn was in need of a technique like this. His current techniques covered offense, defense, and movement, but he was still lacking reliable methods of recovery and tracking.
This technique was much needed in his repository of learned techniques.
As Karn used the system to learn the technique a list of techniques showed from which he could forget.
