Li Lian shook her head.
"That is not okay no matter what. What kind of despicable master punishes their disciple by taking away their sight." The eyes of Li Lian glowed as the shape of the irises changed into a heart shape.
Her hand moved from Shin’s cheek to his blindfold as it held it tightly. The previously innocent smile turned much slyer.
The hand pulled down pushing along with it the blindfold.

Rei walked up the platform gracefully. Many disciples who had become fans of Rei over the past month yelled.
"Fairy Rei! Fairy Rei!!" A small chant had appeared among the outer sect disciples. But the amount of people who sang her praises were nothing in comparison to the amount of people who were watching the fight in interest.
"So it is the newly crowned genius disciple Rei of Elder Karn’s tutelage. Her opponent is the disciple of the Heavenly Mountain Elder. Another dark horse contender who nobody knows about yet. Elder Heavenly Mountain found him in a village a month ago and brought him back. I feel bad for Elder Heavenly Mountain’s disciple though, disciple Rei will likely win without going out fully." A disciple who had witnessed the fight between Rei and Disciple Cai a month ago spoke.
"Eh? You really think Elder Heavenly Mountain’s disciple would lose to someone not even fully going out?" A disciple spoke in shock.
"Keke, you don’t know the heights of the heavens. She is quite possibly the most talented individual in the outer sect. She hasn’t become famous due to her having joined the Sect recently." The disciple replied.
"Speaking of, where is the gambling den? I am putting all my money on her immediately. Do it quick or don’t blame me!" The dust rose high as the young man ran to the gambling den that allowed disciples to bet on the winner of each fight.
"..." The other disciple looked at the running young man in a blank stare. His eyes darted between the arena and the cloud of dust far away. The disciple took a step and then another which turned into a full on sprint towards the gambling den. A little child spectating the coming match could swear he saw the disciple run with a big money symbol in his eyes.
Rei stood with her hand on the hilt of her blade in front of the inner sect disciple presiding over the match. On the other side of the arena stood a tall big man that looked as big as a mountain. The Inner Sect disciple nodded as he looked at the paper in his hands that showed the face of two people.
"Good, the both of you are here. I will reiterate the rules once again before the match starts. Do not hold back and do not be afraid of killing your opponent. Rest assured I will stop you if it is too dangerous." The inner sect disciple spoke with a smirk and reiterated the same rules the disciple who had admitted Shin and Rei into the contest had told.
The disciple of the Heavenly Mountain Elder did not speak. His size spoke for him as he bowed in respect to the inner sect disciple and Rei.
"Thank you for the match in advance!" The disciple spoke as he readied himself into his fighting stance.
Rei nodded in response and readied herself as well. The both of them entered a trance, judging the opponent in front of them, calculating the best possible next movement.
The Inner Sect disciple between the two nodded with a smile at the seriousness from the two.
"Begin!!"
BOOM!
The massive disciple lowered his center of gravity. The arena trembled beneath his feet. A wave of dust spread outward as his enormous body shot forward.
’He is Fast!’ Rei’s pupils narrowed. The thought barely entered her mind before the man’s fist was already in front of her.
She tilted her head and the fist passed beside her cheek.
Whoosh!
The wind generated by the punch caused her hair to flutter violently. The disciple immediately followed with his other fist, to match, Rei’s sword finally left its sheath.
CLANG!
Steel collided with flesh. The sound echoed throughout the arena. Yet the giant disciple’s fist had been stopped. Rei’s sword trembled slightly in her hand. Her feet slid backward several meters. The spectators fell silent.
"She blocked that?" Someone whispered.
"Elder Heavenly Mountain’s disciple has learned the Heavenly Mountain Cultivation technique. It allows the user to solidify their Qi into their body so densely that their body becomes as hard as a mountain! To think she was able to stop an attack like that."
The large disciple was not listening to the disciples nor was he surprised that his attack had been stopped. Instead he was currently looking at the shallow cut across his knuckles.
His expression became excited.
"Finally!!!! A toy who won’t break... HAHAHA!" The large disciple roared.
The disciple was called Hong Tao. A man whose height was twice his parent’s. Ever since he was young, the village had considered him a demon and ostracized both him and his parents. Children were forbidden from playing with him and adults would pull their children away whenever Hong Tao approached.
Even the village elders would lower their voices whenever his name was mentioned. They called him a monster. A child who should never have been born.
Hong Tao didn’t understand why. He had never wanted to hurt anyone. He simply didn’t know his own strength.
When he was five, he hugged another child too tightly and broke the boy’s arm. When he was seven, he accidentally destroyed the village’s wooden gate while trying to open it. And when he was eight, he became tall enough that even his parents could no longer look him directly in the eyes without tilting their heads upward.
Every accident only reinforced the villagers’ fear. Eventually, Hong Tao stopped approaching other children. He stopped leaving his house and he spent most of his days sitting beside his parents, listening to them speak while trying his best not to touch anything.
His mother would tell him that he wasn’t a monster. His father would tell him that strength wasn’t something to be ashamed of. Hong Tao believed them but even children could understand when the rest of the world disagreed.
Then, when Hong Tao was twelve, a cultivator arrived at their village. He was an old man from the Dragon Meteor Sect. The moment the cultivator saw Hong Tao, he didn’t recoil or reach for his weapon.
He simply stared at the enormous boy for several breaths and laughed.
