The gate of the Kangen Family isn't grand or magnificent, nor is it richly adorned. This kind of gate displays a simplicity everywhere, seemingly not like a wealthy family's.
This simplicity gives Igor and Kadi a bit of a familiar feeling. This sense of simplicity is closer to nature, making Igor and them feel as though the whole vibe is a bit like Guru Mountain.
So now Igor and Kadi feel as if they're coming home, although this home is still somewhat unfamiliar.
Coban Kangen leaped off the horse; he is truly returning home.
Knock knock knock, Coban Kangen rapped on the gate, feeling a bit anxious as he returned to his long-gone home.
He didn't know if his clansmen could recognize him instantly, an ordinary young man who hadn't inherited the family's glorious achievements.
Failing to become a Wizard was Coban Kangen's biggest stain as a Kangen, of course, the Kangen Family is vast, and wouldn't care about missing one Wizard like him. But for him personally, it was crucial, as he mourned over it for quite a while back then.
Of course, now Coban Kangen isn't as pained; he found his belonging, realized his value, though this value didn't manifest within the Kangen Family.
Not thinking too much, this return isn't for himself, nor for the Kangen Family.
Coban Kangen calmed down; now clear about his mission, he can do anything to help Igor and Kadi.
The humble gate creaked open.
A middle-aged man walked up, wearing the Kangen Family's White Robe, symbolic of Wizard rank as the Kangen Family is renowned for Wizards.
"Patrick the Housekeeper!" Coban Kangen greeted the middle-aged man.
"Who are you?" Awkwardly, the housekeeper didn't recognize Coban Kangen.
Unfazed, Coban Kangen continued, "I am Coban Kangen, son of Yura Kangen, my sister Alisa should now be the Wizard Alliance's scribe."
"You are, the eldest son of the Yura Family?" Patrick the Housekeeper couldn't quite believe the Yura's eldest suddenly returning.
"Yes, the disreputable eldest of Yura." Coban Kangen's tone held a bit of resignation, seeming still uneasy over the matter.
"You overestimate; your experiences provided a fine route for the Kangen Family, not everyone must become a Wizard, nor has every person who left Kangen's protection failed to survive."
"The family has always been lenient towards its members. I find myself speechless."
Faced with Coban Kangen's humble attitude, Patrick spoke no more, being the Kangen Family's new housekeeper, managing various chores, even taking on roles like gatekeeping, newly promoted to housekeeper within the last two years.
Previously, Old Cole had been the Kangen Family's housekeeper, the older brother of the former clan leader and uncle to Bigas. Due to what Bigas had done, the former clan leader resigned, bringing shame upon the family, and Old Cole stepped down as well.
Of course, these changes were known within Kangen Family, any major incident would be publicly known, it was Kangen's tradition, always has been.
"Is there something for your return?" Despite not displaying his value within Kangen Family, Coban Kangen's achievements were notable among the young, rising to deputy captain of the Bistal City League Guards through self-effort!
"I come representing Bistal; I assume Lord Popovich's Mail Bird must've arrived in the clan leader's hands."
"No instructions from the clan leader have come yet," Patrick said coldly, the brief warmth evaporating suddenly.
This reaction caught Coban Kangen off guard; his understanding was that Lord Popovich's letter should precede them, but the Kangen Family's housekeeper seemed to know nothing, indicating an issue.
"Are those two the ones you vouched for?" Patrick the Housekeeper pointed at Igor and Kadi, inquiring.
"Yes." Coban Kangen recognized complications weren't as smooth as presumed.
"Recently, those Fighters sent a notice to Bayes Avenue about Kangen Family vouching two unfamiliar youths, I was puzzling over who this Kangen was, preparing to investigate, surprisingly quick you arrived here."
"If there's any problem, I'll bear responsibility for my guarantee, not dragging the Kangen Family down." Coban Kangen calmly affirmed.
"Not necessary, Kangen's don't doubt or reject family members, especially since you represent Lord Popovich."
"Should Lord Popovich's letter not reach the clan leader's hands, I fear entering this gate won't be easy," Coban Kangen smiled quietly, realizing the situation was unusual.
"As a Kangen, you may pass this gate; regarding those vouched, beyond entry, I can't assure your freedom!"
Patrick's meaning was clear; Igor and Kadi wouldn't freely enter the Kangen Family's gates.
"Thanks, Housekeeper, but if they don't enter, neither need I!" Coban Kangen smiled facing Patrick.
"Then, I can't do much." Patrick turned, leaving with the gate slowly closing behind.
Coban Kangen shook his head, rejoining Igor and Kadi.
"What's wrong, turned away at your own home?" Kadi quickly sought confirmation from Coban Kangen.
Coban Kangen shook his head, denouncing Kadi's assumption.
"Then why the door shutting?" Kadi felt miffed; how could the gate just shut like that!
"What's happening?" Igor inquired too, discerning from Coban Kangen's look that things weren't going well.
"Lord Popovich's letter hasn't arrived!" Coban confirmed.
This answer clued Igor and Kadi into the situation; earlier Coban explained Lord Popovich's letter would simplify matters, it was crucial, and the Kangen Family would shift stance upon receiving it.
"We can't enter?" Kadi speculated again.
"We can't enter, right?" Igor gestured between himself and Kadi, correcting Kadi's wording.
"Yes, if entering, your liberty's restricted!" Coban Kangen shook his head pondering why Lord Popovich's letter hadn't arrived.
"Unbelievable, another closed-door treatment!" Kadi found it implausible; Bayes Avenue seemed increasingly peculiar.
